Avoid Kate/Kathryn Lopez of Brookwood Pet Care at all costs! We hired her as a house sitter to look after our animals and home while we were in holiday. We have four cats and an old, non-dog-friendly dog. Our instructions were that two of the cats were not to be let out, and other dogs should be kept away from our dog. But she decided keeping cats indoors was “cruel,” so “they were outdoor when I’ve [Kate’s] been here.”

She once was out for four hours, during which time we saw one of the cats on our drive, which means he was locked out of his home the entire time when he wasn’t even supposed to be outside at all.

Kate brought two strange dogs into our home to illegally daycare, leaving one alone in our home while she took the other one back to his house. She laughs with the owner who collected their dog from ours about how our cats, including the two who weren’t supposed to be let out, had to hide from a strange dog in their own garden. She also must have fed the dogs together, as she said our dog stole food out of the other dog’s bowl, a potentially volatile situation considering we had warned her our dog can be aggressive with other dogs.

She brought a strange man into our home.

She repeatedly let our dog out of her car without a lead next to our busy road.

All of this was done without notice or permission, and we only found out because it was recorded on our external cctv and doorbell cameras, including audio. (She was shown the cameras before we left.) When we called to find out what was going on, she initially lied to us and denied everything. After we pointed out that it was all captured on CCTV, she hung up on us, turned her phone off, and blocked us on social media. We watched her start packing her things immediately, effectively abandoning our animals for the last four days of our holiday without plans for their care in place. We were left having to call friends and neighbours to step in and help.

After having our trust betrayed we were terrified of what this woman could’ve been doing to our animals and home, and she ruined the rest of our holiday. Upon returning we felt as if we’d been burgled, as we had the same feeling of having had someone in our home we didn’t trust, and who definitely did not prioritise our animals’ or our home’s best interests. Kate looked after my two dogs, Sam and Harvey whilst I went on honeymoon. I have left them in kennels for a weekend before and I hated it, this was immeasurably better! ! Kate has a real way with animals, she was great with my boys and kept me posted with pics. I thought they'd be crazy to see me when we returned but I really think they were a little sad to leave their new found friends!! Very highly recommended. More...

Kate came over to house sit and looked after my little dog for the weekend, she really does go the extra mile to keep your pet happy! As this was the first time I had ever left him I was quite nervous, but was totally reassured by all of the lovely pictures of his walks and cuddles! Would definitely recommend Kate to look after your pets!

With a large family event and needing to have my two golden retrievers looked after I called on Kate.

She was very professional beforehand, with legal documentation and fully insured I was confident that my boys were in good hands.

When we returned home in the evening they had been so well cared and exercised they slept for the rest of the evening instead of their usual pestering to be taken out. We were very pleased with Kate and will certainly use her again. I can highly recommend her for both pet care and house sitting.

Kate house sat for our much loved puppy Harvey this week. It wasn’t an easy week for Harvey (Orr Kate) as he’s not been left before and is quite a nervous boy. Kate kept us informed of what he was up to and reassured us when we were worried. She spent a lot of time walking him, which is his favourite thing to do and reassured him that all was ok. We have returned to find a v healthy, happy and well looked after puppy. We feel very grateful to Kate and hope once she’s recovered from this visit she will look after Harvey again in the future.
