My partner and I merged households in March, moving from two properties into one. We researched and BritMove had outstanding reviews so approached them for a quote.
Lucian quoted and we felt reassured by his ‘nothing is too much trouble’ attitude. The quote was more expensive than others but felt it was worth paying extra for a reliable, high-quality service. The full packing service cost us £3000.
Bad result. When finally loaded, our completion was still delayed so, understandably, the removal workers were restless and we felt pressured into booking storage for £1300. Luckily we completed at the last moment.
We appreciated the staff working late, however, it was chaotic so tough to get things in the right rooms. Everything was unloaded (albeit in not the right place) but we signed the relevant forms, not realising at this point that the dining table, skate ramp and football goals had not been reassembled. Annoyingly, the workers left takeaway remains on our driveway which we had to clear up.
Unpacking, things became clear; the day was difficult due to the delay in completion, however, this did not excuse terrible packing at the Property A where items were randomly thrown into boxes with very little or no wrapping. A huge contrast to Property B which had lots of items very carefully wrapped – even jelly, bags of rice, and various other unbreakable items unnecessarily wrapped in large sheets of paper. We could have praised the attention to packing at Property B but it was so slow we fell behind. Property A drove an hour round trip to drop off a two young lads to help. We think this led to rushing and breakages at Property A. Had the completion not been delayed we would have had problems with my buyers moving in (who had sat outside waiting).
Things had been packed on top of plants so ended up completely squashed and battered. Some did not survive. It looked as though ornaments of sentimental value were thrown into boxes unwrapped with the lego. Generally, all-round the packing was dreadful so not only have we ended up with lots of breakages, we also paid a great deal of money for privilege. We were left with a triple wardrobe with a broken wooden panel and scratched door, furniture with missing screws and a wardrobe (which was part of a set) completely broken and had to be scrapped. A shelving unit that was dropped was broken, a tear in a mattress and kitchen appliances dented and damaged. Damaged kids toys (including a guitar). Items to be put in the shed were all thrown in and piled up with no care.
There were a few items missing and luckily we were able to access Property A to retrieve. However, we also found damage to the interior wall when the wardrobe had been removed.
We had to repair a number of items that had not been reassembled or reassembled correctly.
Things don’t always go to plan but we found the arrogance and flagrant disregard for our belongings upsetting. We complained by email and Daniel Beta responded in an unsympathetic, defensive and arrogant tone. Later realising he was the manager (real name Bogdan Beta) we had a number of emails back and forth, where he seemed to not accept or understand our full version of events but claimed to want to sort out the matter. I had a reasonable phone call with him and we agreed we would try to come to an agreement for compensation as there had been failings leading to unnecessary stress and damages. We sent descriptions and photos and he came back offering £150 claiming it was all cosmetic damage. This was an insult and did in no way reflect the amount of hassle, inconvenience and damage done (not even monetary, yet alone sentimental value).
We refused the offer and contacted the NGRS who advised I contact Removal Ombudsman and I have my Credit Card company investigating. NGRS also suggested small claims court. This is an ongoing complaint and yet to be resolved.
I’m sure BritMove has it’s successes but if you take the risk, beware if things go wrong, you’re in for a battle to get compensation.

**THEY REFUSED TO RELEASE OUR PARTIAL REFUND FOR THE DAMAGES CAUSED UNTIL I REMOVED ALL NEGATIVE REVIEWS ONLINE**
We were moving from a two bed property to another two bed property, two men turned up in an unmarked van, we had pre packed everything before they got there so they loaded the van and took our things to the new house.
They forced our sofa through the door frame of our new living room without taking the legs off or trying to angle it and damaged the door frame. They chipped several pieces of furniture at some point in the process and damaged my plants. They have completely broken my partners ergonomic office chair by ripping it apart instead of dismantling it. They ripped our new house kitchen flooring very badly and visibly when putting the fridge into position.
We were willing to let the smaller stuff go (we hadn't seen the chair at this point) but when they left we wrote a note for them on their feedback form about the flooring and signed it, they got very argumentative at the van claiming it wasn't them and it was already damaged despite the fact my partner was in the room and literally saw it happen.
My partner then submitted a complaint within 7 days as per their terms and conditions and received no reply at all, he called them after 14 days and it turns out the people doing the removals had forged his note to say that he knew it wasn't them and agreed the flooring wasn't their fault, luckily he has a photo of the note and his signature before he handed them it.
We were passed from person to person and promised call backs that didn't happen. We finally spoke to the managing director who has given us £200 towards the cost of the broken ergonomic chair and the ripped flooring but on the condition I removed all negative reviews online which is disingenuous and misleading to customers.

Britmove arrived to quote quickly and told us that our requirements would be 'no problem'. They arrived on time on the day of our move and the 4 man team worked extremely hard. All our belongings were loaded and travelled to our new home. All my fragile packages arrived intact.We moved to a property about 3 hours away and Britmove did it all in one day working till late (11pm)We are happy to call the company 'no problem ' as they were superb and there were no problems. Britmove were simply fantastic. There was a problem in the “chain” on completion day, which meant we were sat outside our new house for hours (with Julian and his team patiently waiting). Then the sale didn’t complete - argh! We didn’t know what to do. Daniel from Britmove calmly explained the options of what we could do, and then at our request arranged for our stuff to go into storage. He then organised for it to be delivered to us at the earliest opportunity after we had moved in (sale completed the next day). Before choosing Britmove we were contemplating hiring a van and doing it all ourselves, as we’ve done this in the past. I’m so glad we used them! A nightmare situation could have been so much more stressful. Others in the chain that had hired a van told us they had empty it and move their stuff back into their house to give the van back, as it was already booked out to someone else. I have just moved today and used britmove I would reccomend them to anyone they were very professional from coming to due a pre inspection telling me what size van I would need it turned out I needed 2 Van's but the price stayed the same on the day I moved 3 men turned up on time handled all of my furniture with care they placed all of my furniture in the rooms and garden were I wanted it they were a god send take my advice use this company ifyou need to move anything

I can't praise the staff who were involved in my recent move highly enough! They worked such long hours with boundless energy and nothing was too much trouble for them. Saturday the 15th of June 2019 was nearly a disaster for me. I have booked for removal van and was let down. However, the day was saved by BRITMOVE. Alan Domos came to my rescue. I was going to use another company but my friends told me not to so I put my move info into a comparison site for removals and they called me straight away and surveyed the following day and gave the middle quote. They were professional and the two guys that did the the removal on the day worked very hard.
