The idea was, and still is, to get people of all fitness abilities outdoors training in parks, with motivation provided by military trained instructors. While many people refer to BMF as a boot camp, it was never the intention to make BMF an intimidating, hard out boot camp.

The hardest thing about BMF York is being brave enough to come to your first session!! I know before I started I thought it would be full of scary, ultra fit people and instructors that shout at you. It’s actually full of really nice people with a real mix of fitness and the instructors are lovely. They encourage you to do your best, but within your own abilities. Everyone is warm, friendly and welcoming and we regularly get together for drinks, which are always a great laugh. If you are thinking about coming along, DO IT, you won’t regret it!! More...

It was great. Sadly no longer. I’ll briefly summarise to quantity the above with my own experience from various venues. Since last year, one of my local parks Swindon has closed, Bath and Brighton are pale shadows of what they were and I’ve been to sessions in Milton Keynes where instructors failed to show . The core loyal instructors and park managers have been upset with their treatment and when I’ve tried to contact the boss of BMF Tommy Matthews he hasn’t responded. Certainly in Bath, Brighton, Swindon and probably other venues I haven’t visited, there are now thriving independent alternatives set up by former BMF instructors. These guys were extremely loyal BMF staff who felt no alternative but to leave. Such a shame. To see something once so great lose it’s way makes me very sad. I loved British Military Fitness, sadly Be Military Fit has lost any magic it once had. Tommy Matthews and Bear Grylls what have you done? More...

Kat is a great therapist and has magical hands but this place has the worst customer service. I have been a couple times now and the woman at the desk is always rude. .. this time was my breaking point. We were going to upgrade from a single massage to a couples massage and do aromatherapy and salts but we didn't have the funds this month so we were going to cancel our membership and reschedule the upgraded massage for next month. However, since my appointment is 21 hours away, not 24 hours, we are getting charged a cancellation fee that costs about half the rate of a massage. That is bs and the massages are overpriced to begin with... I will no longer recommend this place to people nor attend a session ever again. Terrible customer service. THUMBS DOWN. More...

Oh my! I have had lots of massages in my life, including 5 star hotel and Aveda spas, and Luke is absolutely fabulous! He listened to what I had issues with and did his best to relieve my pain. Taking time to fix, than worry about rushing me out. I'm finally feeling more like myself, thank you Luke, see you in June! More...

All of Therapists that I've seen are very talented and clearly care about patients. I enjoy our conversations and find them all to be very kind and passionate about what they do. I also like the flexibility of schedule. I find the front desk staff to be very competent and courteous. Very easy to work with. I have a very busy schedule that changes frequently with work and family demands. I definitely appreciate their willingness to work with me so that I can avoid having to cancel. More...

Hi, I’m a member in Cardiff and like a load of others have found that my membership has gone up without any notice. We are annoyed as we’ve had emails telling us about new non-exec directors and how great you hope to make things but nothing about an increase in fees. I did try to contact you is your site last week and also sent a DM on messenger but this has been met with silence which is incredibly rude. Please can I have a response. I’ve been s member for 7 years and and hoping to see some improvement very soon!! Thanks. Mel More...

Fantastic instructors, totally committed to their students and really get stuck in. Some really good fun to be had getting fit with likeminded people. Merchandise - absolutely appalling with dreadful customer support. Inaccurate sizing and the stick on letters tend to come off after one wash!!!! Youd be better off going to Poundland/Pep and Co, buy a plain t shirt and a permanent marker pen. BMF, without us you are nothing, just remember that!!! More...

Can see a few negative comments, can only speak from experience, but I have not noticed any changes except for different decals on the vans, ok we still waiting for new vests, but the sessions haven’t changed, I still get beasted to beyond my capabilities 3 times a week, a burpee is a burpee regardless of what your wearing. I can understand if sessions and instructors are made easier or changed for the worse , but in my case there just as hard and fun. More...

It’s a real shame. BMF use to be fantastic, it helped me to achieve my goals. However, since new ownership, BMF has gone totally downhill. They are taking kit and vans away from parks, not providing anything they promise in their advertising videos. If they just focused on providing a service in parks and not an absurd new marketing campaign, it might actually work. Gutted. More...

You need to actually provide the service we pay for. Forget Bear Grylls, he adds nothing and is not an advert for physical fitness. We have sessions being cancelled due to having only one instructor and the van and kit has been taken away. You pay for all these ridiculous adverts that have already very fit people in and that are not representative of members or sessions. Stop lying, be honest with members and tell them what's happening! We've had another session cancelled this morning with 45 minutes notice! More...
