About

Being an experienced English teacher and tutor, I specialise in helping children to achieve the all-important GCSE grade 4 and above. Past clients include the children of University lecturers as well as local businesses.

I hold a distinction grade Masters Degree in Education, as well as the usual cluster of teaching qualifications. Moreover, I have over 15 years classroom experience.

Being a naturally lively and engaging person, I have a unique teaching style including colour coding, memory hooking (both excellent for exams) as well as the more traditional approaches to learning the
essentials of both English Literature and Language.

I also credit myself with the ability to build pupils’ confidence both with their English skill obviously, but also personally. I believe individual growth comes from an enquiring mind alongside the ability to remain resilient when faced with adversity.

As part of my Masters degree, I have conducted academic research into exam stress and so feel well placed to claim myself to be a sensitive and kind tutor who has an awareness of the emotional pressures that the educational system places upon students. Therefore, my style would particularly suit the needs of a reluctant or anxious student.
