Our german shepherd dog had his first training session today and thoroughly enjoyed it. Josh was brilliant , he kept us up to date throughout the whole day sending us progress photos and videos. My nearly 2-year-old Maltipoo and I had the pleasure of a session with Josh. My pup struggles with reactivity to other dogs, especially black ones. During the session, Josh shared valuable insights that allowed her to calmly walk past his Cockapoo while on the lead, and even remain composed near his striking black German Shepherds. Josh provided us with practical tips to manage such encounters, resulting in my pup feeling comfortable enough to sit and observe the German Shepherds play. Debra Jo and me had a 121 session with Josh this morning to work on her social behaviour with other dogs. DJ is a patterdale terrier x whippet, 4 years old. DJ had a negative experience with dogs in the past so showed aggression towards them when out on a walk; she’d pull on her lead, bark, howl, at times has foamed at the mouth and her eyes would become bloodshot. I was avoiding passing other dogs out on a walk, walking only to places where there weren’t dogs and muzzle her in busy places. We both weren’t happy so we went to see Josh. Josh is knowledgeable of all breeds of dog so was able to understand DJ’s mindset, working with her characteristics. She’s a total foodie! Josh spent time watching her in a safe, enclosed field far from any traffic to assess her personality. Josh then worked with me and DJ on her lead skills and what to do when she pulled. We worked with Josh’s dogs too so we could really correct the negative behaviours. I was taught a lot which I can now use to help DJ have stress-free walks, for both of us. Also I now know about mentally stimulating activities so Deb has fun besides walking. Josh took our black labrador Bali out for day training as she has always pulled really bad on walks, lunging and not listening, to the point we were extremely stressed taking her out, especially in public spaces. We were kept up to date with videos and photos throughout the day of the training which was fantastic. The progress seemed to be going amazing. Once Josh brought Bali back he spoke about what he did and went through some great tips and advise for us as well as sending videos showing what we can do. When I took Bali out the next day, it was the nicest walk I’ve had with her, she was amazing and the advise really worked. We have a four-year-old Hungarian Vizsla, reasonably trained. Recently Hector has developed an issue with some other dogs, after some debate we have decided to seek help. I met Josh on a walk and immediately sensed his calmness, so booked an appointment a couple of weeks later. We have now had a fruitful and engaging meeting. Our session with Josh, was not rushed. Josh turned out to be better than expected, insightful, patient and super knowledgeable, it was good to watch Josh with Hector. Josh has been great with Cass he is a golden lab retriever. We got him at 8 months old as the people we purchased him from, purely got him as a stud dog no love involved just to make money. so no proper walks, so no training, just in a kennel with artificial grass. He was so nervous.it was very sad to see how he was , he is a stunning looking dog from being nervous shaking and cowering we knew we had our work cut out we found Josh online and although we have had labs for 30 years Cass was different. so, we have been with Josh a few times now and every time learn something new, nothing is too much trouble with Josh, very calm and understanding. Cass is going from strength to strength. From a dog that had not mixed with people to a fantastic loving dog that loves everyone we still have a way to go but with Josh we know we will get there. thank you Josh its so much appreciated. Two working line German Shepherds - Six Week Residential Stay. Both dogs struggled with settling in public places, reactivity and unpredictability with other dogs and typical shepherd protectiveness - i. e. aggression / reactivity to approaching strangers. From the moment we arrived at the training facility, I knew I had made the right decision. I let both of my dogs out of the van (not realising Josh's dog was around) and they instantly reacted to Josh's cockapoo (pinning it down and growling - bad start!), Josh was calm and in control. I am not sure I have seen such a calm reaction! We then went straight into a bit of training with the dogs and he asked me about their issues - and I left hoping that I wouldn't get a call in a few hours for me to come and collect them because they are so much work! I needn't have worried - Josh seemed to love the dogs and I think the dogs were reluctant to come home if anything! In the time they were there, I got videos every day - from long walks, to swims, to camping holidays to coffee settles - they were literally exposed to everything. They went on 2-3 coffee settles every day (so around 80 coffee settles plus in the time they were there) - as this was one of the biggest issues for me. They seemed to be constantly out walking - on the first day, Josh walked them off lead with other dogs he trusted (I am pleased he made his own judgement on them rather than being influenced by my anxiousness). He also got them to a level of obedience where he could use them as props in his own 1-2-1s. So, the dogs were literally working 6-7 hours a day which was absolutely amazing for them and I could see how much they enjoyed it. The whole experience was amazing and allowed me to focus on a house move and new job without worrying about the dogs tormenting my family - and to get two reformed characters back was a bonus! I cannot express how grateful I am. Josh has given me the confidence to trust my dogs with other dogs and to take them to public spaces. He has given me advice and follow-up training since the residential - it was the best decision I have ever made and has changed my life with them. He is a brilliant trainer (and I am pretty sure I have spent about £12,000 on other training - with nowhere near the amount of success as Josh has had) so cannot recommend him enough. In terms of the dogs' behaviour now, I have since had both of my dogs with other dogs (in and out of my house) and I have felt much more confident reading their body language - and I have been able to enjoy a coffee out with them (for the first time since I have had them)! Josh has massively boosted mine and my partner's confidence while training our 4 month old pup Bandit after a home visit today. We feel a lot more equipped to deal with his puppy biting and how to prevent it developing. Josh also provided us with a lot of advice on how to provide more mental stimulation and improve walking behaviour, as well as offering ongoing support if we have further questions. Visited Brand K-9 for the first time on Saturday with my Rottweiler. Josh was very knowledgeable and helped a lot with my dogs reactivity needs. I can highly recommend Brand K-9 to use for your pooch/pooches! He really does go above and beyond for your pooch. He takes great pride and joy in training and caring for them. Doggo’s are his world and I wouldn’t want or trust anyone else to look after my pup. I needed my sprocker (Bruno) boarded so i could go to a wedding for a full day and night. He trained Bruno throughout the time he had him with multiple things and kept me up to date. With one of them being, training bruno to walk using a slip lead. He really made me feel at ease with everything, especially with it being my first time away from Bruno. He well and truly looked after him. I had no worries. I also mentioned to Josh that there was a chance we could be back later than the time we arranged and Josh was very accommodating to this. The whole interaction with Brand K-9 was stress free and an absolute pleasure. When I collected bruno he was both physically and mentally stimulated that when I got home he was very calm and slept most of the day. Highly recommend!! We approached Josh at Brand K9 as we were having some trouble with our two dogs, and we cannot believe the difference after just one day with him, and some very helpful tips and training advice! Josh was so friendly, professional and full of knowledge. He has taught us so much already in such a small space of time and we cannot thank him enough. Our dogs came back after one session both mentally and physically stimulated, and with updates throughout the day we were able to see the exact training being done with them both. Josh worked on lead training and reactivity training and we’re amazed to see both our dogs sitting not reacting to a dog walking past after just a couple of hours with him. We have continued on with the guidance and training advice Josh has given so far and have seen huge improvements to our dogs behaviour. Josh was really nice and very professional, as well as being extremely knowledgeable. He explained things very well and was great with follow up. I had a 1-2-1 training session with my reactive boy Great Dane (so they don’t come much bigger) and within 10 minutes we were walking past another dog about 1m away without a reaction, it was incredible. Josh had explained to me what to do and what I needed to look out for so I could nip it in the bud, letting my dog know what was expected from him. I Really recommend josh @ Brand k 9, I was nervous at first as my dog Ted can be a little unpredictable and hard to read at times and in the past not been great with other dogs, but as soon as I left ted, I had videos of him around other dogs that he didn’t know, completely at ease. Straight away I knew he was in safe hands. I loved the videos and pictures throughout teds time there. Josh is really informative and knows his stuff, ted absolutely loved it and his pack runs. This was the first time crash had stayed with anyone other than my mum when I went away, so I was a little nervous initially, but I had absolutely no reason to be! Josh sent plenty of picture and video updates every day, and all the dogs looked like they were having a great time and getting along so nicely 😊 when I went to collect crash I could tell he was very relaxed and happy in Josh’s home, and even took himself inside one of the crates as we were about to go, I don’t think he wanted to leave! Our Pomeranian Crash spent 4 days with Josh, he’s generally a good dog, but needed some help with recall and walking on his lead without stopping every few seconds. Within the first day of his training we received video updates that clearly showed progress in both areas! When we picked him up we were given plenty of tips on how to continue training at home, which were really helpful. We have had 2 sessions with Josh, one at our home and the other at his facility, and both times I came away with great confidence that we had picked the right person for Carter. He is very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. We came to him with two issues, one was fear based aggression and the other was really bad lead walking, all rooted in Carters anxiety, which Josh noted straight away. Josh has given us all the info we need to implement the training and even answered all of my follow up questions after the training sessions. Could not give this man enough praise for his help with my 5 month old golden retriever. I feel me and my pup have gained a world full of knowledge in one session. We have two Labradoodles we need help with: a wilful, reactive, small barker and a large, strong usually happy occasional aggression. Josh is very engaging, responsive and accommodating - which was great due to our working day. He totally understood our predicament and we were rapidly working together to get the right behaviour. Really informative 121 puppy training for my family and myself with Josh. I arranged a 2-week train and home stay for my ~11 month old rescue dog Shelly, who was struggling to settle in her new surroundings having previously been caught and kennelled in Bosnia. Josh worked on her strengths, re-directing her energy away from destructive behaviours and developed her lead/engagement/recall/bed etiquette in such a short space of time that she's already drawing attention from other dog owners. I was provided with updates and (mantlepiece-worthy) photos of Shelly every day, and had absolutely no doubt that she was in capable hands and having a whale of a time whilst training. I would (and have) recommend Brand K-9 to anyone looking to work on training and behaviour, and improve their own understanding of what a dog needs from us to thrive.
