Bradley Building Services

We are very happy with our extension with Bradley, they were friendly, the work was done well and on time. They were very flexible to suit our needs.

We had an adaption to our front boundary wall and drive, and we are extremely happy with the work carried out. We had works carried out by Bradley Building Services Ltd starting in August 2018 at first all was well.

There were days when their contractors did not show up, their staff sometimes did not show up also and they had no one to replace them. Two of their team due to foul language so loud that our neighbours came to us and we had to mention this to Colin and he removed them from site.

Michael and Tom I must say were conscientious and hardworking and hardly ever had coffee breaks and didn’t smoke like many others in the garden or outside our house (which they were not allowed to do) however unfortunately they were not here all the time as they had other jobs for BBS to work on also.

After works finished in January 2019 all looked ok but as the weeks went on major problems started occurring. We had two GRP roofs done and their was constant banging through the day and night which kept all awake. Cracks started appearing in and out of the building, eventually Colin visited (approx April 2019) and commented on the work done and said that he was not happy with some of the work.

They agreed to start looking at one of the roofs and they took down the ceiling and found they had put in small pieces of wood rather than having an even roof, which had split. So they decided to clamp each beam and hold in place. So now we had boarded ceilings for some months and again our house looked like a building site with each bang from the roof dust being dropped.

Anyway this did not work. The banging continued and we complained again. Eventually after months of not rectifying the issues they agreed to replace both roofs in November 2019 so I took three weeks off work as they were to work consistently and put things right. We were also promised by Bradley Goodridge that this would be done and all works below would be put right.

They sent two different roofing companies one said that there was a problem with the materials they used and that they had not fused together on the top of the roof and they had changed many of the roofs because of this. When we spoke to Bradley about this, Colin made contact and said he had sacked the company as they should not say things like that. He sent another company and they put a rubber roof over the GRP and so far the banging seems to have stopped, however it is not summer yet which is when it was worse.

We were told a team of people would put right other jobs that they had done. An example is that our bathroom floor made a creaking sound and moved when walked on, when they tried to fix this they went through the water pipe causing flooding to our kitchen. When the supervisor Theran arrived he was laughing whilst a worker was trying to stop the leak and was ripping down parts of our ceiling. We asked him why he was laughing and his reply was you just got too. Upon leaving he he said to my partner I know I was laughing but we are sorry.

On 19.12.19 they came to fix the second roof as promised exactly the same as the other roof. When materials arrived we noticed certain things were not on the delivery. We tried to contact Colin and Bradley by text, calling and email asking if it was okay not having certain materials - no one answered or replied. So Theran said he doesn’t have the same materials so he took his team of site. In the evening after us trying to contact both Colin and Bradley since the morning we received an email from Bradley saying they were not coming back.

Today we still have a huge crack in our kitchen ceiling due to the above, bathroom floor has started making a creaking noise again when walked on, kitchen floor moves/uneven and damaged due to them trying to fix the leak they caused, decking huge gaps and coming up in places, one roof still banging as not done, cracks in and out of new buildings, door which is hard to close due to floor movement, living room wall is not repaired properly etc. We have photographs of work before, during and after, which can show all the above issues, including some video footage.

Now we are having to pay for a roofer to make the roof good. We also are having to take more time off work to try and make good jobs that are still not rectified and we still have to pay out more money when we can for jobs mentioned above that are still not put right.

We have asked Colin by recorded mail on 23.12.19 to visit our house and have also tried to contact him and he has not responded. Again if Colin or Bradley would like to come to the house and see for themselves issues that are not right/outstanding you are more than welcome to do so.

We emailed Bradley on 27 Jan 2020 to supply us with certificates, guarantees and supplier contacts for decking and all flooring etc and he has agreed to do so but we have still have not received anything from Bradley or Colin.

I would not recommend.

Having to pay out for another company to put right work they did on roof.

Decking, flooring not laid correctly, internal/external cracks - will cost us more money and time to put right.

The stress caused to my family I would not want anyone else to go though. More...

Colin and his team were excellent throughout in creating a very striking open plan kitchen / living area extension, as well as the refurbishment of the upstairs  bathroom and shower room. Their supply chain was superb and provided great advice and good quality materials which contributed to the overall look. Communication with Colin was brilliant and any issues quickly dealt with. We have used Bradley Building Services for all of our house refurbishments and extensions over the past 4-5 years. The first project was the family bathroom refurbishment. We were so impressed with Colin and his team that we then employed BBS to complete a first floor extension, again delighted with the outcome. More recently BBS refurbished our kitchen which we love and is the heart of our home. If we had more work to do, we would ask Colin to do it! We undertook a major house refurbishment with Bradley Builders in 2017 which took an anticipated 7 months.
