Counselling
Having counselling with Amy has been a life changing experience. When I first started to see Amy I was in a really dark place. Amy just ‘got me’ and from our first session she turned my life around. She is kind, compassionate, understanding and just a lovely person. She is an excellent counsellor and has created a warm and safe environment. I would not hesitate to recommend Blackpool and Fylde Counselling. There is now a great deal of light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you Amy for everything. More...

What do you love most about your job?
I personally, have always enjoyed helping people.
In counselling, it’s my clients who help themselves and I can just be the calm safe space in a persons live to help unravel the thoughts, behaviours to get a new perspective to allow them to find a solution.
I’m the safe space that people can open up and explore the deep hurtful emotions and experiences to find peace and a light at the end of the tunnel.
Being apart of someone’s journey is rewarding and I couldn’t not love what I do.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I decided to branch out on my own as in Blackpool there’s not a lot of support out there specifically for children and young people.
Why should our clients choose you?
One of the perks of being private is there’s no waiting lists. You can be seen quickly and not have to wait months.
You will always get 100% of effort out into each session to make sure you get the best out of our time.
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
It is possible for me to provide my services online for adults and teens.
However, for younger clients it’s not really possible, as children have different levels of developmental skills a lot of play therapy is used and those kind of activities are important for the child as well as the counsellor to be present and in the moment to allow a child to share their story.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
We have only opened after covid, so you can ensure all equipment and areas are cleaned after use. Masks are available if required as well as hand sanitation.
Children and young people
I specialise in children and young people from the ages of 5-18.
Through the use of different techniques and interventions cherry picked and tailored to the young persons needs to ensure they get the best out of their time and to allow them to share their story and explore their issues in a safe environment.
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
CBT can be used for a variety of different issues such as anxiety, phobias and changing negative thoughts.
Person centred also known as talk therapy.
The client is always in charge of this session, it allows you to talk freely with no judgement to explore your own solutions with the help of a safe space and someone to listen and explore with you.
Psychodynamic
As scary as the word looks, psychodynamic is used to help explore the unconscious thoughts that you might not know exists. It’s the underlying issue that can be explored to help you understand where a thought or feeling might have stemmed from in order to address it and move forward.
Mental health
This number Ella’s a lot of different issues from depression, anxiety, to bullying and self-esteem.
Mental health is just as important as physical health and together we can work together to get you in a better place and to give you the tools you need to recognise different behaviours and patterns and how to avoid them moving forward.
Trauma
Trauma can come from all different situations, working through trauma is really important as it will affect peoples lives in the future in unexpected ways from their behaviour to their own mentality and how they are in relationships with people closest to them.
Bereavement
The loss of a loved one can impact us devastatingly, whether it's a friend, a life circumstance, a family member or even a pet.
Through bereavement counselling, it is important to explore the feelings and help show that it's ok to not be ok. Grief and loss is a cycle that can be experienced in any order.
CPT - Cognitive processing therapy
Cognitive processing therapy is ideal on working with children and adults who have experienced trauma or childhood traumatic experiences.
Similar to cognitive behavioural therapy, except it all centres the trauma that a person has experienced and allows them to move forward in a healthy way and to identify a new perspective to help deal with negative behaviours from their trauma.
Anger and behavioural management
Finding the route cause of anger and any behavioural difficulties/issues often helps resolve the issue, through a use of different models and techniques, it is possible to find a solution to underlying causes which may be subconscious. Helping find healthier coping skills and ways to acknowledge your triggers to avoid it escalating further for yourself and your own toolkit.
Adult counselling
As well as children and young people, I also counsel adults 18+ for various different experiences and needs. I put as much support into each client as I can, so you can always guarantee to be given our all to.
