Q&As

Eating well can make a huge difference to how we feel day to day. We often think of food as fuel, thinking mainly in terms of the energy it provides, however, the contribution of food to our wellbeing is much more far reaching. Food provides us with the building blocks to build and maintain our bodies and all of the complex processes within it. For example, sugar provides us with energy but without nutrients such as B vitamins and magnesium we are unable to convert that sugar to energy. If we are eating a diet low in nutrients, processes within our body will be functioning sub-optimally and we are more likely to feel below par, be plagued by niggling health concerns, infections, and be ageing poorly. As a result, clients will generally come to me with a particular health concern, and finish the consultations with the happy side effect of just feeling generally better.

I find it hugely rewarding to help people to feel better, whether that be that they have more energy, are managing a health problem better, or looking better. I have always enjoyed problem solving and I love helping clients to find a way to fit good nutrition into their lives - giving the tools and the confidence to make long term changes to how they eat.

I have always been interested in health, although, I have to admit my own diet wasn't exactly perfect in my 20s! Once I started to look into nutrition I found it fascinating and I'm very passionate that more people should know more about this and understand how it is relevant to them! Often people don't simply like being told what to do and personalised nutrition advice is a great way to explain to someone why a particular recommendation really is relevant to them as an individual but also to help them to make it do-able in their own life.

I feel in a strong position to understand the challenges of making changes to how you eat. I am a busy working mum and I have previously pursued a stressful corporate career. I have revolutionalised my own diet in order to feel better and support my health. When I was growing up I really wasn't taught much by way of cooking skills so I have taught myself - cooking food that is good for you but not very tasty really doesn't cut it when you are cooking for the family! Feedback from clients is that I am approachable, friendly and great at working around obstacles. Added to this I enjoy analysing problems and coming up with solutions, and I received a Distinction when I qualified in Nutritional Therapy.
