Our guide, Norman was very helpful and mlm informative. We were driving in to Belfast and he suggested a convenient place for us to meet. He took us to both sides of the walls and gave us great insights into the history. It was informative and fun. Norman made it all real for us. Highly recommend. More...

If you think that you’re going to get to the Peace Wall yourself and piece together the history based on the murals, think again. We tried. Nothing to see. You really need dimension and these are the guys to provide it. These locals will share the history and stories that lead up and weave through to modern times while driving you to hotspots and into the Protestant flag-waving Shankill area. At the same time you’ll be supporting a unique local taxi system. Martin (driver 35) was our guide on our visit and did a bang-up job making the tour interesting and informative. More...

Wanted to add, that this tour was one of the highlights of our stay in Europe. Intelligent, impartial, but impassioned; commentary on, and history of, one of the most difficult yet fascinating social situations at play in the world today.Highly highly recommended.

Did this tour today during a quick day trip to Belfast. My friend booked our day and only said “we’re going to look at murals and street art” so I truly had no idea the emotional journey we were embarking on. This tour was fascinating, educational, and heart breaking. I felt completely gutted by the end. I really appreciate when travel experiences provoke thought and emotion like this one did. For the rest of the day following the tour we talked about what we learned, did more research online, and discussed how the stories we heard are played out in so many other cities and communities around the world, just with different participants. Progress is sometimes so slow, peace seems forever away.Highly recommend this tour. John was incredible...empathetic, knowledgeable, and hopeful. Amazing experience. More...

This was a amazing experience and well worth the money. When we placed our booking late in the evening on a Saturday we got an email withing the hour confirming our booking. The tour itself was very informative, thought provoking and heart breaking. I had seen some documentaries before on the troubles but absolutely nothing prepares you to hear some of the details. Our guide lived through the troubles and gave his own personal view on what went on back then.I could have easily spent another hour listing to some of the stories. My main take away from the experience will be the human stories behind the mural's and what it means to he people here. A tour like this should be a must for anyone coming to Belfast. More...

I'm a wheelchair user having to use this taxi service several times during December and January while car is being repaired. The taxi is wheelchair accessible according to government standards. The driver courteous and dependable. If a taxi can't be provided at the time you require then they will negotiate with you and try and find a way round it. I had to get my frail mother who is blind to her appointment. The driver kindly guided my mother to and from the taxi. This is above and beyond and took a weight off my mind. If you are a wheelchair user I would not hesitate to recommend this service for you and your loved ones to tour Belfast. More...

Our driver was Mark and we were beyond impressed by his detailed and impartial information on how the troubles affected Belfast. Mark claimed to be "no historian" but but his lived experience and indepth knowledge on the subject made our tour completely engrossing. We were an inquisitive bunch and Mark was well able for all our questions as well as showing great humanity and compassion to all who were and are affected. Would recommend to anyone. More...

The tour was one of the highlights of my visit to Northern Ireland. Joe my driver/tour guide was engaging and informative and he spoke from first hand experience of the “troubles”. Sadly. it seems that all tension is not over and I sensed his feeling of discomfort in certain areas we visited. Highly recommend this company and thanks Joe for a fabulous experience in Belfast. I'm quite late with my review as it happened last month. My tour was with Joe in the silver van and I must say it was great.
From being informative to the honesty of giving both sides of the story, it was a worthwhile experience.
As there might be more to see than could be during the time, I'd love to have him as the guide for my group when we decide to go out there again.

Wanted to say thank you for our experience today with Joe (he of the Silver Van!!).

Our hour and half with him was touching. .. informative... funny... and a remarkably entertaining experience.

He gave an insightful overview of the city and it's political history... both recent and ancient.

But it felt anything but your usual boilerplate tour - he injected personality... perspective ... and his own personal history into the day - putting a very human face on what is a remarkably complex story.

We loved every minute of it. Just brilliant... Best thing we did in Belfast.

Highly recommended.

Best choice ever ! If you go to Belfast you must call / mail Norman at the Black Taxi Office and arrange your tour around Belfast. You won't find half of the spots you are guided to yourself, and the background informaton provided by our driver was drawing an entire picture from Belfast's past, even long before the Troubles, to it's bright future. We couldn't have seen and learned more in any other way. Great job, guys ! More...

Great tour from Rab (Robert) today. Not been back to Belfast since serving there so was a little unsure to say the least. Rab put me at ease, a good laugh, was a wealth of information and really went the extra mile . I found it a great experience that will help me move on. Fantastic to see Belfast moving forward whilst not forgetting its past. Also unbiased views from both sides of the divide. Thank you Rab and thank you Belfast. More...
