Bear Grylls Extreme Survival - completed it mate 👏💪

The toughest survival course in the whole of the UK and what an unforgettable, life changing experience that was! This was without doubt the hardest thing I have ever, ever done, there have been many many highs that FAR outweigh the lows - in fact there was only one major low and that was out of pure exhaustion on the busiest day!

for the final push for our total. As a team we’re just over 35k which has gone towards helping over 110 individuals and training over 20 teachers in schools to support young people. Every penny really does help and is so so much appreciated.

I’ve learnt more this week than I ever expected to, not just about survival but about myself (apparently I’m bossy - who knew 🤨😉😂), how far I can push myself physically and mentally, group dynamics, and genuinely what is important in life.

Being without the kids for so long was really challenging and i’m so so glad i’m back home with them…the break from my phone and socials however was lovely and something i’m probably going to do more of.

We’ve learned rope skills, fire lighting, smoke signals, shelter building, foraging and preparing food, water purification, navigation - sense of direction/natural clues/map reading/compass/bearing skills, pacing, done a spot of PT, cold water dipping, rope climbing up a waterfall, climbing mountains, rock climbing, zip lining, abseiling (which I bailed on!), raft building and rafting…seriously close to getting hypothermia here and had to go sit in the landy to warm through 🤦🏻‍♀️ 🥶 and finally got ourselves lost and stuck on the side of a mountain where we shouldn’t have been creating a real life rescue mission 😂 And probably many more skills I’ve forgotten to list too!

On the last morning we took part in another rescue mission with two ‘casualties’ included in our team of 11. Our challenge was for the remaining nine members of the team to get the two casualties to safety using all the skills we learned above. It was hard hard work, I was an unconscious casualty with a head injury and it was absolute torture not being able to help the group either physically or just to give words of encouragement/help. It was an exciting, exhilarating, pretty perfect way to end the experience!

The instructors, Nick, Dom and Ray are nothing less than incredible. Their individual wealth of knowledge is outstanding and together they are literally unstoppable- there is nothing they couldn’t answer between them about survival! Sometimes in life you come across people in jobs and think wow, this job was made for them and this is certainly true for these guys!
