It was the most beautiful, original hand crafted dress.The detail was exceptional. All the handmade lace trims for the dress and veil were perfectly matched to the antique lace. I clearly had no idea of true beauty before I stepped into Ms Tammam's quirky shop in Bloomsbury. Exquisite dresses, jackets and skirts on golden hangers line the turquoise walls. The fabric, and the shop, is like some glamorous vestige from the 1920's. Tammam is so focussed on creating the highest quality textiles so they match her feminine and dreamy designs that on first going I found myself wanting to try on everything. I left with an understanding of ethical and slow fashion. Tammam's friendly and willing knowledge of her silk cocoons from Assam or banana fabric from Southern India is fascinating and completes her designs. I have returned many times to that unique and wonderful shop, and never once have I worn a Tammam dress without some or other man trying to take me out for dinner. I get the feeling that not only are the clothes beautiful, but they have a similar effect on the wearer. More...
