I had a quotation from Andrew to complete some works at my property, after many failed attempts at getting professionals to sort the issue out, Andrew seemed the most promising. Andrew gave me a quote and said it would cost £300 to have a survey to fully inspect the damp and dry rot, which I agreed to, as this cost would be taken off the final bill if we chose to go ahead. The survey took about an hours work, and after this an agreement was drawn up to start the works. The deposit of £600.00 was paid to Andrew after a while to start the works, and a start date was give.

On the day the works was due to start, I received a text from Andrew to say that his van had broken down and that he wouldn’t be able to attend. This continued for the whole week, however Andrew failed to inform me on the day whether he would be attending or not, and it was pretty much up to me to chase him. On one day he sent one of his colleagues over to spray some chemicals on the area to be treated for dry rot. His colleague was at the property for a maximum of 30minutes in total. Andrew would often not answer my phone calls, but when I asked a friend to call him, he phoned my friend straight back, showing that he was avoiding my calls.

After about two weeks of constant let downs and limited communication, Andrew phoned and offered me two options: 1. A full refund and cancellation of the works or 2. A discount on the works. By this time, I had seen a few negative reviews on a website called bark, and decided it wasn’t worth the hassle to continue with him, so I took him up on the first offer. A few weeks later, and after constant hounding by me, Andrew refunded me only £500.00. When questioned on this, he claimed that he would need to charge £100.00 for the chemicals sprayed at my property by his colleague. £100.00 for half an hour. I contested this, and reminded him he promised a full refund. I am yet to receive this.

I am down £400.00 because of Andrew and his unethical business practices. My advice would be to avoid at all costs.
