If you want to learn Guitar this is the place to go. Been years since I played and couldn’t remember a thing. After a few lessons I’m playing the fast and quite challenging Freddie and the Dreamers I’m telling you Now. Didn’t expect to ever learn that one and correctly not like all the apps and you tubers tell you. James the teacher is a very nice guy that makes every lesson enjoyable. Highly recommended More...

I can highly recommend James as a guitar teacher. After a few lessons I feel I’ve made good progress on starting to learn lead playing. He has a very clear and patient style of teaching. Each 1 hour lesson literally fly’s by because you are so engaged in learning and playing! More...

After many years of fiddling around on my guitar, but basically being pretty stuck in a rut, I struck lucky when a friend recommended James to me. After only a couple of months, I feel like my playing has not only improved, but my understanding of what I can actually do on the guitar has really opened up - for the first time ever I can see real possibilities for developing my playing in the way I want to. James is a great teacher, patient, friendly and incredibly observant, as well as being really skilled at meeting his students where they are. I cannot recommend him highly enough. More...

My son (7) has been having lessons with James for about four months now and I can't believe it's been such a short amount of time. George absolutely loves going to his lessons and has picked it up really quickly, thanks to James's enthusiasm, encouragement, choice of music and fun methods of teaching. It's such a pleasure to see them interact and to see George so keen to practice and show us what he can do. It's a very sociable instrument - portable, nice to listen to, and fun for a family singalong. James is always very generous in answering questions and showing George all his different guitars and other instruments. I can't recommend James highly enough. I'm hoping he'll continue to teach George for years to come, on ukulele and eventually guitar. Lisa More...

As someone who has been 'playing' guitar for many years (about 20) but firmly stuck in a rut having not really pushed myself. "great, I can play that song/those chords/that riff etc., I'm a guitarist. Whoo". Thant's all well and good until you realize you're playing the same three things every time you pick up the guitar for 5 minutes.I finally decided that now I'm in my mid 30s that I wanted to improve, so went for my first sample lesson with James. Right from the off he was welcoming and friendly, taking things right back to basics so that I can underpin my guitar knowledge with some structure and hopefully begin to improve. His lessons so far are making me feel like I am unlocking the fretboard and things are starting to click. It also makes me enjoy practicing and I look forward to the lesson every week. The studio is well equipped and a great environment for the lessons - the hour really does fly by!Highly recommended! More...

Have had 3 guitar lessons with James now and recommend him highly as a teacher. Superb musician and a very patient teacher who focuses the lessons around what you want to achieve. You always emerge after the hour feeling like you have been stretched & moved beyond your comfort zone...but in an encouraging way. His endless patience on seeing a 50 something Peter Green wannabe butcher a scale shape is exemplary. But then he will make a suggestion about improving the way you attempt it and a light bulb goes on in your mind! More...

James made me feel at ease from the very first lesson, having felt a little nervous going in. He pitches his song choices at the right level; challenging enough to keep you on your toes but still at a level where you make progress and can practice at home. He also explains the musical theory behind it too, which has really helped my understanding and I have seen a lot of progress in just 3 weeks. Would highly recommend the Bristol House of Music!
