How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
The size and the position of the garage in relation to the property.
Run us through the different stages of the Garage conversion process - what's involved?
Get the brief from the client. Make a site visit to assess the size, proximity, and suitability of the garage to the client's brief. Give the client some design ideas and advise on how the concept will comply with the Planning regulations. If all comply then make a fee proposal once that is agreed. Survey the property (including garage), make proposals to the client, once agreed to proceed to make planning drawings and submit to the LPA.
How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
The minimum height of 2.20 meters to the underside of the ridge will determine the suitability of the loft for conversion. The loft conversion is under Permitted Development
The minimum as required by the Planning Regulations
• 40 cubic metres for terraced houses.
• 50 cubic metres for detached and semi-detached houses
Run us through the different stages in the loft conversion process - what’s involved?
i, Site survey by the architect.
ii. Production of architectural design for planning drawings
iii. Submission of planning drawings to the LPA for planning approval.
iv. Once the application has been approved.
v. Production of building control information. With structural engineer producing structural calculations and drawings.
vi. Submission of the building control pieces of information to the LPA building control or an approved inspector.
vii. After the building control approval, the client start inviting tenders from reputable contractors.
viii. Choose a contractor and start on site.
