Tutoring

Our son is currently having on-line tutoring from Lee for A-level maths. He’s on his second month of lessons currently and we have noticed the benefit of the tutoring already. We all know about the challenges that A-level maths brings to pupils, but Lee has helped our son gain in both motivation and confidence through her help and guidance. We have found her to be professional, understanding and helpful. Lee has kept our son fully engaged and we’re sure that this will go a long way to improving his grades. In our opinion Lee is an excellent tutor. More...

Thank you Dave and it is a pleasure to work with your son. He is working hard and as a result is making very good progress. A level maths involves learning many new methods and takes many hours of practice. I am delighted to report that your son is keen to both learn and practice. This may well result in an A grade in his final exams.

As I can’t answer on your answer, I will leave another more complete review.

I did not leave a 1 star review because I am angry about the refund, even if I feel that a session cancelled 5 days in advance should not be charged and I’m sure most will agree with me. Other tutoring platforms only take the money after the session and allow cancellation up to 24 hours in advance.

I’m leaving a 1 star review because on his last session with you, my son ended up in tears. That is on you, and obviously why I chose to cancel the last session as he was really upset. You may not want to take responsibility for his lack of engagement, but as a tutor, you should be the one engaging him. As I mentioned, he has had other tutors and no issues with them. It seems clear to me that from the start you took a dislike to him. And implying an undisclosed SEN diagnosis really sums up how this experience went. There isn’t one, just to be clear. It is disappointing that you put the blame solely on a child, very unprofessional for a experienced tutor.

Fiona I tried very hard to engage with and help your son with maths. At no point during the 4 out of 5 lessons did he hide that he didn't want to do it. He was so miserable in the lessons that I felt uncomfortable. I mentioned this lack of enthusiasm to you after every lesson because as an experienced tutor I do know that if they don't want to learn then they won't put in the work necessary to master new methods. It is a partnership that requires an engaged student and an engaged / knowledgeable tutor. I was engaged but your son wasn't. Your attempts to damage my reputation are negated by the two 5 star reviews added yesterday. Same tutor but 3 different students. Two students who want to learn and one that doesn't. I did not want to continue to offer further tuition to your son because he was not enjoying learning maths. Had you not cancelled the 5th lesson I would not accepted him as a student for a second calendar month. I sincerely hope he does engage with another tutor and goes on to get an excellent grade at GCSE.

Since starting maths tuition with Lee, my son’s confidence has grown. His predicted grade at college has already gone from a D to an A within a couple of months. Really happy with his progress and in my view, Lee is an outstanding tutor. More...

Q&As

I provide tuition in English Language, English Literature, maths, and psychology up to A level and also the sciences physics, biology and chemistry up to GCSE level. I tutor in and around a town called Cramlington in beautiful Northumberland; so many of my customers are in local towns like Morpeth, Gosforth, Ponteland, Whitley Bay and the city of Newcastle upon Tyne. My GCSE students typically achieve grade 7-9. As a result I am able to provide references from many satisfied parents and students.

Higher grades result in more opportunities so there is huge demand for private tuition throughout the UK.

I am the owner of Approved Tutors and I have over 30 years teaching experience, the last 8 years as a private tutor. I can tutor on-line via Skype, at your home or mine. I enjoy the challenge of raising grades and helping students achieve their academic and career goals. It is a pleasure and a privilege to have the opportunity to raise attainment in the areas surrounding my home in Cramlington, Northumberland. I cover a 10 mile radius e.g. Gosforth, Morpeth, Newcastle upon Tyne, Jesmond, Ponteland, Whitley Bay and those in between. I know that an investment in tutoring improves their confidence and is an investment in their future earning potential and life choices.

Yes I tutor via Skype and the last year has proven it is equally effective.

During the last 12 months I have switched to only tutoring online, this protects me, my students and our families.
