Anstruther Fish Bar most definitely deserves the accolade of Britain's best fish and chips. I had the grilled smoked mackerel with chips and salad, and I can safely tell you it was the best fish and chips I have ever had the pleasure of consuming. While we were waiting to be served I read some of the information panels on the wall and the list of famous people who have eaten here is incredible. The Hollywood movie star Tom Hanks' and his wife came all the way to Anstruther, just to try the legendary cuisine, and personally I don't blame them. We ate our food in the car as the restaurant was understandably full. My only comment would be that perhaps they could expand the seating as I imagine it would be very hard to get a seat, but please don't let that put you off as the food is mind blowing. More...

Would highly recommend, we go up with the kids every so often and always anstruther fish bar we go to, best fish and chips about by far, and wether we eat outside in the car on the benches or in the restaurant it’s always fantastic and the harbour and little beach area is fantastic for the kid we love it, our favourite place
