Anna is a very experienced teacher, who knows how to get the best out of children. She helped both of my children with reading, maths and English (writing and grammar). She is always calm and very good at explaining difficult concepts, especially in maths. Anna built excellent relationships with both of my children and, as a result, they both enjoyed learning with her. A highly professional individual, I would not hesitate to recommend Anna for all aspects of tutoring, whether it's a boost in a particular subject or preparation for Year 6 SATs and beyond. More...

Q&As

I love creativity and being able to meet individual needs of each student. The joy of one to one tuition is that children can learn in a way that best suits them and I make a special effort to tailor my lessons to suit a child's individual interests, pace and needs.
I love tutoring because you really get to see a pupil blossom and grow academically. I can provide constant feedback which helps to address any misconceptions, plug any gaps and move the learning on. In addition, tutoring allows the student and tutor to build a strong rapport that is integral to the learning process too.
Seeing my students improving, growing in confidence, resilience and independence, believing in their abilities, turning their frown into a smile, achieving more than they thought was possible is the most rewarding feeling for me!
It's great when you find the perfect balance between learning and fun!

Tutoring allows me to get to know my students on personal level, to tailor and personalise my sessions in a way that really addresses the needs and learning style of the student which is not always possible in the school setting.

Working with students on 1-1 basis enables me to identify my students strengths as well as aspects of their learning they find challenging. Then I can plan personalised lessons; their contents and pace can be adapted, nothing is set in stone . Learning can be accelerated or slowed down depending on how my students are coping. Whatever the case, I will always challenge them to deepen and secure their understanding before moving on. All learning is put in a context and linked to other concepts within a subject as well as across subjects.

I am positive, encouraging, calm and patient. I truly believe there is no ceiling on a student's potential and I ensure my students understand this. I have necessary skills to model, scaffold and question effectively. I bring creativity and attention to detail to all of my work.

I can provide my services online or remotely, even though I prefer face to face interactions with my pupils.
While schools were closed during the COVID pandemic, I delivered maths, reading, writing, Science, Geography, Physical Education as well as PSHE lessons online to up classes with up to 25 pupils on daily basis.

Apart from this, I delivered specially tailored reading and comprehension lessons for pupils who have English as their second language.
All the above lessons included interactive games and activities, sharing of resources on screen, modelling, tasks, discussions about given tasks, unpicking any mistakes and misconceptions as well as homework assignments.

I am fully vaccinated. In addition, I have had a booster jab.
I do not use public transport. Instead, I use my own car to commute to my clients.

Services

I have over 20 years of experience as a class teacher in primary schools and 8 years as a maths lead. I have taught across different year groups, lead small group interventions focusing on improving pupils' phonics, reading, writing and maths skills as well as extending their skills through reasoning.

I am flexible, creative, supportive and determined to see every child succeed, improve their skills and make the most of their potential irrespective of their starting point. I am passionate about teaching maths and ensuring that my learners don't learn just procedures and methods but understand maths concepts they are learning thoroughly by making links to their previous knowledge using different resources and representations . Learning through clear, linked steps is the key.

In addition to this, I love creative writing, encouraging pupils to develop their ideas while applying a variety of writing tools, grammar structures, punctuation and spelling techniques to create a desired effect on their readers. Having experience in KS1, I love teaching phonics through a variety of fun interactive activities and games in order to develop pupils' spellings and reading skills.

Having worked in schools in Kent and London, I have gained rich experience working with pupils for whom English is their second language as well as pupils with additional learning needs such as speech and language, Autism and ADHD. My aim is to make all pupils succeed and progress therefore my strategies and teaching approach will be adapted to personal needs of each student.
