I have been learning Italian with Alison for about a year now and I must say it has been an excellent experience. I was a little apprehensive about on line lessons especially as I particularly wanted to improve my spoken Italian. My experience has, however been entirely positive. Often we decide before the lesson what to focus on which means I can prepare beforehand. During the lesson we talk through what I have prepared and then the conversation naturally goes into different directions. So I feel I get the best of both worlds, prepared conversation but also spontaneity when we talk further. Alison is always fully prepared and often provides additional written and video resources. She also explains difficult aspects of grammar clearly. In addition, I like the way she helps me with pronunciation so hopefully I will be a more authentic speaker of the language. I have been learning Spanish with Alison Wraight for the past few months and have thoroughly enjoyed every lesson. Alison is an excellent teacher with a very professional approach to every class.
Each lesson is very well structured with clear guidance.
Being able to learn via zoom is fabulous. It is so convenient and easy to log on each week.Having individual tuition is very encouraging
and motivational.

Alison is an excellent tutor. She provides a comprehensive service in all aspects of languages. She tailors her lessons to your personal requirements. Her understanding of your personal needs is excellent. I have done group tuition in Spanish at a university and I find I learn more from her individual on line service, than I did in a class of twelve or less. I have been having weekly Italian lessons over zoom now for over a year with Alison, the lessons are very easy going and are tailored to my learning needs.

Alison is very patient, an excellent teacher and can explain the more complex side of the language in an easy format for me to understand. We have built up (as you would do with a face to face class) a good rapport with each other and feel I gain so much more than being in a group class environment.

By having the lessons over zoom, it is so convenient as you do not need to travel to a lesson, even wear your pyjamas if you want to! I have also had my lessons whilst on holiday abroad which has been great as I have been able to keep up my continual learning of the language.

I would 100% recommend Alison for your language learning journey. More...

Not all Zooms lessons are the same!

Having had classroom based lessons replaced with online lessons during Covid, I have to say that I wasn't a fan of Zoom. However, the small group sessions I currently take part in with Alison have been completely different.

We can set our own agenda, go off track and explore subjects more deeply when we want to, as well as learn in a non-pressured environment.

And that feeling of ' I don't quite get that, but I don't want to ask!' well that doesn't happen being in a small group or 1 to 1!

Even when I return to a classroom based course, I will still keep up my lessons with Alison. She's has a flexible approach, explains things clearly and sends support materials. More...

My daughter has been working with Alison for half an hour a week on her GCSE Spanish, the impact this time has had on her grade has been enormous, it's time to ask questions she doesn't get chance in class, to work on her pronunciation, to reinforce what she had worked on in her school lessons and an extended time to work on her speaking skills. Alison is responsive to my daughters needs, she is happy to be guided by her and isn't ridged in her methods. She sees Alison online and this works brilliantly it is like being in the room with her and means we get a great tutor we wouldn't normally be able to access due to the distance between us. I have been learning Spanish with Alison since the end of March and couldn't be happier with both Alison and the online learning experience. I was lacking confidence about speaking Spanish but Alison soon got me over that fear and I haven't felt that I have lost any of my learning experience by not being face to face but I think it has enhanced it because you don't leave your own home to have that tailor made one to one lesson. I have been having weekly online lessons with Alison for almost a year now. Originally I was looking for face-to face lessons with someone but Alison persuaded me to try online and I can honestly say it is just as though you are sitting next to her in person. She has a wealth of materials to draw on and she can share any of these immediately with you on the screen, plus she will e-mail any documents relevant to what you have been learning to you immediately after the lesson. It is lovely being able to have a lesson from the comfort of your own home without having to travel (saving on petrol!) and during this time of covid lessons have been able to continue without any worry. Having said all that, Alison has a lovely personality and is an excellent teacher with a thorough knowledge and fluency of languages, and she has really helped me to understand and improve my Italian. We have recently started lessons with Alison (my wife and I are studying together) and have really enjoyed the start to our journey into Italian.

Alison's style is empathetic, pleasant and encouraging which means we look forward to the lessons. She is also very clear in delivery and in answers to whatever questions we have.
The work to do between lessons is well-judged and realistic in terms of demands on our time, but Alison also points us to several other resources that we can use to extend our use of the language or to reinforce what we have done with her.

Alison is a great teacher. She recommends quality reading materials tailored to your level of proficiency. She is also flexible if you want to learn more about a specific topics. Although all my lessons have been remote via zoom, they are always structured well, I'm given plenty of opportunity to ask questions and if there is something I don't understand, Alison illustrates it clearly on a whiteboard. When I retired I began looking for something that would occupy some of my time and mentally stimulate me.
I found a beginners Italian language evening class at my local college.
After completing the course I moved onto the next intermediate stage, but I was struggling with the listening and speaking aspect of language learning.
This is when I turned to the search engines and found Alison.
Contacted her, arranged my first lesson, which was free, and I have been having weekly lessons with her since July 2020.
She has helped me with my pronunciation and grammar understanding through reading and using activity books in a friendly, relaxed manner.
I have found Alison very helpful in my quest to learn Italian as she is very patient, explains why you should say a sentence in a certain way.
Breaks down difficult words into smaller sections so you say the correct sound to pronounce that word.
Language learning is all about practice and using Alison as part of your practice routine will only help you to improve.

I really enjoy having time with Alison, she has been able to pitch our lessons at just the right level. Just enough to stretch me but not too much that I don’t understand and lose interest. She encourages me to use more vocabulary rather than the same old words every time. Lessons are always interesting, never boring or a hard slog. We decide between us what I will find most helpful rather than Alison dictating what we should do. Alison online tutored my 9 year old daughter for two hours a day throughout the lockdown, covering Spanish, Literacy and Maths using Skype. She has endless patience despite a sometimes reluctant pupil, and worked really hard to make the lessons fun and interesting. She was also very flexible and fitted us in around my busy work schedule. My daughter has definitely kept pace with all the work sent home from her school under Alison’s tutelage, and has massively improved her Spanish.
