We had a fantastic training session with Alison and our LH American Akita. She was so patient with us and helped us recognise the good in our puppy (then only 5 months old). She knew dogs and provided us with the tools and feedback we needed to ensure we had control of our pooch under certain circumstances we were currently struggling with. The support provided was not only at the session held with her, but afterwards via email and WhatsApp which was invaluable to ensure that we were continuing with the training properly.I would (and have) recommended her to anyone who has a dog and is considering any kind of training at all - definitely worth every penny charged. Having just rehomed a 22 month male labrador (not castrated) and having little knowledge of his previous training, we required help with pulling on the lead and recall. Alison managed to fit in our request very quickly. We were able to train on a 1 to 1 basis, which proved really useful. Alison was very patient and understanding. We also practised 'WAIT' when coming through doors and is also useful for in/out of car boot too. Also great tips in managing to stop our dog jumping up on ourselves, other family members and strangers too. We also watched some training video clips which demonstrated calm and relaxed feeding too. Alison has a lovely manner in explaining the 'psychology' of why dogs behave the way they do and it makes perfect sense. I would thoroughly recommend 'Alison Knight Canine Training' and the personalised follow up email with all the tips and instructions is ideal to refer back to. We have two very willful labradoodles - one just under and one just over a year old - and have tried various methods of training with them to date but nothing has worked for us. Training has either been too complex, or just not really been suited to our individual needs and we were starting to despair a little. Today after just an hour and a half of training with Alison, I feel the most confident I have with training and 100% like I am starting to take the control back! Simple, effective techniques from someone who speaks to you, rather than at you and genuinely wants you to get the most out your session. I'm a first time puppy owner and wanted advice on how to train my puppy how to sleep through the night and to give him the confidence to have some alone time without getting too anxious. Alison was so friendly that we felt at ease with her instantly. She's very calm and her clear instructions gave me the confidence to work with my puppy. I cannot recommend Alison highly enough. We have three dogs and are experienced dog owners but our youngest dog was proving quite a challenge to train as he is a feisty wee character! Alison took on the challenge and she has successfully taught him commands that we were struggling to do. What do you love most about your job?
I love helping people to get a better understanding of their pets. I like to get my training methods across to my clients in a fun positive way.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I've had dogs all my life and have spent the past 14 years building a successful dog walking business. I have always been fascinated by their behaviour and have gained many qualifications over this period.
Why should our clients choose you?
Over the years I've spent every day with lots of dogs and by observing their behaviour I have gained a great deal of understanding of why they do what they do. I have Open College diplomas in Dog Training ,Canine Psychology and Clicker Training. I am a registered member of The Academy of Dog Training and Behaviour and a fully qualified Dog Training Instructor. A client sadly had to give her dog up for rehoming due to challenging behaviours. I am currently fostering him and training him so he can find his forever home. This is a very rewarding process to see him gain self confidence daily.
