Dog Walking
I have used Abbey Pet Care to walk my dog for a few weeks now and am soo glad I went with them. Rachel is brilliant and is very flexible which I needed due to shift work. Koda my dog enjoys going for her and I alway get an update on how the walk has been. Would definitely recommend! More...
What do you love most about your job?
I love being around animals whether pets or wildlife. My own pets have included a dog, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, gerbils, ferrets and fish! I love being able to get out in the fresh air, walking dogs and having fun with them. During COVID times, whilst things have been quiet, I have been using my spare time to help out a local wildlife hospital which I have also been thoroughly enjoying.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I have wanted to work with animals since I can remember but life never really turned out that way. However, upon turning 40 I decided to take the plunge and have never looked back.
Why should our clients choose you?
Compared to a lot of other dog walkers, I specialise in 1 to 1 walks. Many owners prefer this service as they know that their dog is getting 100% of my attention. This does not take away the chance for a run in the park with other dogs if they enjoy being sociable.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
Currently with dog walks, I am using my own lead and making sure I use plenty of hand sanitiser to help keep both myself and my customers safe.
As far as boarding small animals is concerned, drop off and collections are at the door and again hand sanitiser is being used.
Home Visits
Home visits are offered to all small animals and cats (unfortunately not dogs). They can be either once or twice per day and can help to keep your pet in their usual routine/environment. VIsits consist of 30 mins each and include feeding/watering/cleaning of your pet as well as plenty of fuss and attention.
Small Animal Boarding
Abbey Pet Care also boards rabbits, guinea pigs, gerbils, hamsters, tortoises, hamsters, budgies etc
Rabbits and guinea pigs are housed in either single or double length hutches and can spend time outside in our runs on the grass, weather permitting. They are given Burgess nuggets, fresh water, fresh veg and hay on a daily basis and cleaned every other day or more often if required. Prior to new pets arriving, hutches are deep cleaned.
During the warmer months, spa days for guinea pigs are also available. This consists of a bath, shampoo, brush, nail clipping, fresh veg and cuddles and is available to both boarders and non-boarders.
