What do you love most about your job?
At ABT, we use a mental health orientated teaching style, which focusses on building confidence in learning, as well as understanding their chosen subject. Through promoting wellbeing-positive behaviours in our students, we see their confidence flourish, and their willingness to take on new challenges increase.
We enjoy watching students become skilled and confident learners, who succeed in their topic of choice.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I had tuition throughout my secondary education, and it provided me with insight into the subject I wouldn't have accessed by any other means. However, tuition when I was at school, and still now, is viewed as something that is a 'treat' or 'indulgence' and many companies price it that way. I disagree with this view and wanted to make 1-2-1 learning with experienced individuals something that is available as an essential tool your child can have in their belt. Every child has the potential to succeed, and they should be facilitated to do so regardless of their socioeconomic class. Hence, A.B. Tutoring was born - bringing affordable classes with young experienced academics to every child.
Why should our clients choose you?
Choosing someone to tutor your children isn't an easy task, and we understand that things can take time to decide upon. With A.B. Tutoring we offer 50% off our first session, so you can get a feel for our teaching style, and we can get to know your learning style - no commitment attached.
Many tutors can explain their subject, but not many take a holistic approach to learning what we do. We use mental well-being, and general neurological health, to influence and shape their teaching style. We focus on your child, their learning style, and their interests to make tutoring a personal experience for them, that benefits them in the exam but also in the long term.
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
Yes - We use an online whiteboard called Bramble, designed specifically to deliver remote sessions.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
In-person PPE for sessions is at the parent and child's discretion - we do whatever you request to make you comfortable. Online tuition is preferable. We also offer a no-charge cancellation of in-person sessions for COVID-19-related reasons.
