What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Understanding what your client actually wants. There are many different ways to take and edit an image. Only by listening to client needs do you figure out how to please them and produce that amazed customer.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
When is it to be taken. You need to book a photographer same as any other profession. If you cannot tell us when you want us we cannot commit to being there.
What are you going to do with it. Different uses mean different set ups. What is good for producing on a sheet of canvass for a big feature picture will not work with a shot for social media or for a portfolio. Knowing what you are going to do with it helps us set up the image to be perfect when you use it.
How quickly do you need it. If you want a rush job to get it to you then we may have to cancel commitments for the following day. This helps us plan to deliver and ensure you get the right quote for the job.
Where is this to be done. If we don't know where you want things done we cannot bring the right equipment or arrange the right space to do it. Communication is the key to getting the backdrop of any image set up and perfect.
What do you love most about your job?
I get to produce things that will last beyond my lifetime.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I see the images produced by well meaning but poorly informed amateur photographers. This is especially harsh for weddings and special events where you can never reproduce what happened. I like to think I provide a level of confidence that it will just be all OK.
Why should our clients choose you?
OK I may not be the cheapest (see comment about well meaning amateur above) and I like to feel people know you pay peanuts you get monkeys. By paying for a professional though you can expect a minimum standard as a result. I give you that assurance. I also do not et people down. If for any reason I cannot attend I will arrange for a stand in photographer for the contract that I trust.
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
No. Its not that kind of business. The nature of my work means that I need proximity to the client or what the client needs.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
I try not to use studio now and have had my 2 injections for anti-virus. I will wear a mask if working close and always supply sanitised wipes etc.
