Zoe came to help us with our young labrador when she was about 7 months old. The advice that Zoe brought to us was completely invaluable! !! She helped us to put a stop to inconvenient behaviours, helped us to nail recall and made lead walks a dream. She also answered so many burning questions about what we should and shouldn't do. Zoe is amazing with dogs and they respond to her instantly. Her advice and training has led to us being able to enjoy our pup more whilst keeping her safe and happy. Would recommend to all! More...

Q&As

Being able to help clients fall in love with their dog or puppy again!

I grew up on a small holding in the Black Mountains with pigs, chickens, ponies, cats and (of course) dogs. I've always loved animals and went on to complete a psychology degree in order to follow my interest in animal behaviour. I then started working with humans instead and my career took a very different path as careers sometimes do!

I didn't realise how much I missed working with animals until I started volunteering for Guide Dogs as a Puppy Walker. This role involves taking on a puppy from 7 weeks old for the first year of their life and providing them with love, care and training they need. In addition to this, I am responsible for introducing them to many of the situations that they will face when they're working as a Guide Dog and ensuring that they are calm, comfortable and well behaved in such situations (shops, cafes, buses, trains, hospitals, hairdressers etc.) Basically, they come pretty much everywhere with me! It's a demanding but extremely rewarding responsibility. I love being part of this volunteering community and continue to train new puppies for the Guide Dogs, and pass on the latest training techniques to my customers.

As the years have progressed and I've learnt more and more about puppy and dog training, I'm happy to say that I'm now working full time with dogs, in a vocation that I feel passionately about and that I absolutely love.

Zoe has been a Puppy Walker for Guide Dogs for over 8 years. I have known her for all that time as her Supervisor. She has a good understanding of puppy/dog behaviour. She has had a variety of puppies from sensitive pups needing their confidence building to excitable pups who needed a lot of mental stimulation to help settle them. She has a lot of patience and initiative to solve any problem that an owner may be experiencing with their dog.

I would recommend Zoe to anyone needing help with their puppy or adult dog.
