The Golden Lion

Spent 4 nights in our caravan in January. Well kept and clean. Attractive site even in Winter.
Several meals in the pub, lovely food and staff friendly and obliging. Couldn't have asked for better service from smiling staff!!
Will stay again when visiting family in the area.

Visited for a meal, party of 7, 2 of which were staying onsite at the Caravan park to the rear.

Larger inside than it seems from the outside, clean, tidy, welcoming staff, nice simple menu with nice choices on there.

Food was served promptly, all cooked through and hot...all home cooked (or seemingly home cooked...didn’t go in the kitchen, so wouldn’t know)...portions were enormous for a very reasonable price. Food was absolutely delicious, easily the best Steak and Ale pie I’ve ever had, stuffed full of chunks of steak, lovely gravy, perfect amount to cover the plate. Chicken skewer was excellent also. Nice deserts as well. Children’s menu was useful.

Had a super overnight stay at this establishment using a hard standing electric hook up facility for my camper van. For camping everything is there you need ,very clean and tidy. The location is beautiful and peaceful. This venue is very professionally run and the staff and locals very friendly. The meal in the restaurant was first class with a great selection of drinks available. I would highly recommend this site to all even if you are not staying overnight on the campsite just go for a meal, a drink and the warming atmosphere. More...

Have just had a very nice meal at the Golden Lion by Stithians Lake with my brother and sister in law. Would recommend it to anyone wanting good food and friendly atmosphere. Here's to the next time.

Lovely village inn with cosy fireplace, nooks...and a homely restaurant area with stunning views of the lake. The staff and locals were really nice and friendly and our dogs were welcome in the bar area (by the fire). The food is lovely and they happily catered to our specific requirements. Really friendly despite the fact they had just had a clogged pipe which had flooded the cellar. We were able to go in 15 minutes before opening time and get settled at our table. The food was good value, tasty and there were options for the vegetarian and vegan members of our party. We had a lovely view of the lake and all commented on how nice it had been. Fantastic in every way. A real homely atmosphere, varied menu, friendly and welcoming staff, child friendly, somewhere to park and even good quality camping facilities provided. This pub is situatted beside Stithians Lake and has a reasonable sized car park. It's in a rural location so you need your own transport to get there but it's definitely worth a visit. The food is reasonably priced and is always delicious, there are also plenty of vegetarian options. The battered mushrooms stuffed with stilton are a must. More...
