Alison has been an amazing support and made a huge difference to my son’s GCSE result.
She managed to engage him in Maths throughout year 11 - and following predicted grade 3 at the end of year 10 he progressed to get a grade 5 this summer.
This pass would not have ben possible without Alison’s patience, experience and enthusiasm. The communication she sent after every session was really detailed and very useful for us and his maths teachers to identify ways we could also support better progress.

I engaged Alison to provide some extra support for my daughter during year 11 in preparation for her GCSE.
Maths has never been Zoe’s strongest subject, but thanks to Alison’s encouragement, skill, communication and patience the grade she attained was as high as in any other subject.
Zoe looked forward to her lessons, she loved working with Alison and her confidence was elevated to another level.
Alison provided a detailed report after each lesson, telling me what was covered with feedback on Zoe’s progress, a plan for the next lesson, advice on what Zoe could practice in the meantime along with practical learning resources - and I really appreciated that.
I highly recommend Alison and if you’re looking for great maths tuition….you’ve just found it.

If i could give more stars I would!! What an amazing tutor Alison is. My daughter hated Maths and just shut down from learning at school. We enlisted Alison's support to help our son prepare for his GSCE maths as he had lost some confidence. He really enjoyed his online sessions with Alison and her style of teaching really worked for him. Both our boys studied separately with Alison in preparation for GCSE exams. They were going from a Swiss system to sitting IGCSE Adv Maths and had only 2 1/2 months to prepare. This was a tall order but Alison worked meticulously and systemically through each step with them giving methods, a focus of study between lessons and encouragement. I first found Alison when my eldest daughter was really struggling with her maths and her GCSE's were fast approaching. I can't believe the way that Alison managed to help her, so much so that she ended up getting the pass that she needed. I have now come back to Aloson with my second daughter who is in the same situation and again Alison has been amazing with her and we are heading in the right direction. Alison has been tutoring my two girls since September 2020. They both struggled with maths and lacked confidence, but since having Alison for 1hr per week they have both improved tremendously. Alison is very calm, patient and will explain the question to you a few times if you don’t understand. At the end of each session Alison emails you the summary of the what was covered in every lesson, what she will cover the following week and may set test papers to be completed in spare time. Alison is very approachable my daughters both feel that they can contact her if they have any concerns. I would recommend Alison to anyone for extra maths tuition . What inspired you to start your own business?
The realisation that working one to one with students is the most effective way to maximise their potential and create a personalised learning environment where the teaching is directly targeted at their 'zone of proximal development'.
Why should our clients choose you?
I am dedicated to creating a personalised learning experience for each student. I have taught maths in Secondary schools for the past 20 years. My experience ranges from teaching all primary year groups and all secondary school ages to teaching adult learners! My Primary Education degree training specialising in maths means that I can break any concept down to its simplest level. I have also studied Maths and Maths Education with the Open University as such I am confident in teaching at GCSE level and with using different pedagogical approaches to teach the subject.
My aim is to create an environment where each student feels at ease enough to absorb information. I believe if any learner feels anxious they are not likely to retain or learn anything new. Alongside maths my passion is caring for the emotional well being of young people. As such I have recently qualified as a Mindfulness teacher. This should reassure any nervous or reluctant students that my overall aim is for them to leave tuition feeling calm as well as mathematically empowered!
Maths Tution
One to one maths tuition with a fully qualified teacher (DBS checked)
All resources provided and feedback given after each session.
GCSE students will focus on past papers from their school's exam board in Year 11. Prior to this I will ensure that the infrastructure of the maths curriculum; fractions, decimals, percentages, proportionality and ratio are secure using a variety of different high quality resources. Once this is embedded we move onto the other content in the curriculum.
GCSE students will be given a grade after each completed past paper.
