Xander Sandwell Photographer

Xander is a fantastic photographer with a real passion for his work, the pre-wedding questionnaire ensured he knew everything possible about our wants and needs for the wedding. We had a pre-wedding shoot near our home, which Xander scouted out before hand, helping us to become relaxed in his company and we got some lovely shots. On the day Xander was there from make-up to our first dance capturing some incredibly special moments, he dutifully captured everything and a few additional impromptu shots we asked for on the day. Within a few weeks we got digital access to over 1000 photos in both black and white and colour, plus a digital mock-up of our wedding album which was pretty much perfect in every way. Within just over a month of our wedding we had our beautiful wedding album in our hands plus mini versions for the parents, USB full of all the photos and a nice little surprise on chocolates and champagne! All the way through Xander was fantastic to work with and helped to keep the day on track, listening and doing everything he could. We will treasure these photos for the rest of our lives, thank you! We were very lucky to work with Xander and his lovely assistant, Amber, for our big day.

The work for them started well before the wedding morning as Xander got to know us both with the pre-wedding shoot, and through the detailed questionnaire he sent us beforehand.

He had also thoroughly done his research before the big day, scoping out locations near the venue on London's Southbank and coming armed with a list of suggestions we would never had thought of on our own - for example a kiss by the 'snog' frozen ice cream van!

Both Xander and Amber were incredibly friendly, enthusiastic, charming and professional. They also got things done - rounding up family members for photos and persuading a group of skateboarders to let us have out photo taken in their midst (which has produced one of our absolute favourite shots – a beautifully stylised splash of colour and movement).

On the day Xander made it easy for us, giving us clear directions when needed, and the rest of the time taking great photos without us sometimes noticing he was there! He was also incredibly patient given the day was rather chaotic at times, with numerous people in different places…

The photos were with us quickly after the event, all 950 of them! Xander also happily created a slightly smaller gallery of our favourites (250 photos) which we could more easily share with people.

The photos themselves were beautifully framed and lit. Colour was a focus of our wedding and Xander really captured the vibrant, bright atmosphere. He listened to what we wanted and delivered the fun, slightly quirky photos which summed up the day.

Working with Xander was a real delight and we will treasure his photos for the rest of our lives!

Xander is the wedding photographer that you dream of finding. He is genuinely passionate about and skilled in his craft. His attention to detail in all aspects of his work is very impressive, and he take a great deal of pride in providing a great service to the couples he works with and the quality of his photographs.

He quickly understood the approach we were taking to our wedding and the atmosphere that we hoped for, and he coaxed out of us all the decisions we needed to make ahead of time - we were clueless, so it was brilliant to have an experienced hand guide us on what to think about! We also had a pre-wedding practice shoot near our home, which was really fun and a great way to prepare so we could get the most out of the wedding day.

Xander’s manner is relaxed, friendly and very professional. He met with the vicar and reception venue before the wedding, was great with our family and all the guests, and took wonderful candid and posed shots.

After the big day Xander processed all the images impressively quickly (our online gallery was accessible less than 2 weeks after the wedding!). He then designed a stunning album and was super patient and responsive as we requested various tweaks to the format. We couldn’t have been more impressed by the quality of the photographs and the albums - it was a perfect service.
