Had VJR Roofing out twice over the past 18 months having suffered leaks in the front and back bedrooms of my semi detached house.
Both seemed to be resulting from the old chimney stacks on both sides of the roof.
They came to take a look, suggested they could sort it, then had to wait ages for them to sort it (based on them saying they would be coming then not coming and saying other work or the weather got in the way of it being possible).
After each visit, as soon as we had any serious level of rain following them, the roof leaked again causing damage to the bedroom ceilings of which one had already been repaired after the first visit.
When I dared to suggest that the work was not ok, I was told that it was and that there had been enough rain to test it. I found his manner aggressive and condescending, and if I raised my voice back to speak over him he suggested that I was being out of order.
Paid both times in cash, had no paper work and this week following the second time we have had leaks (on both stacks this time) I contacted him to say it was not ok again, he called me and then suggested AGAIN that there had been rain so no reason it shouldn't have happened sooner if the work was not sufficient.
He came round on Monday 10th Feb to 'take a look' then suggested that there was nothing else he could do so no point taking a look. Again rude and condescending. Fortunately for me paid me my money back for the 'work' they had done £520 (so not a small amount).
I have today had a professional roofer come take a look who is fixing the problems on the roof now. He identified that there was not enough (and never had been enough) lead on the end of the back stack so it would leak into the house. He also found some covering that had been put in to try patch the middle of the stack to stem the leakage, this was the handy work of VJR, it was insufficient and had holes in it!
He has fixed it appropriately and taken images of it all which I shall attach where appropriate to this review.

Massive botch job from VJR, clearly either lacking in capability or could not be bothered doing a proper job just wanted some cash in hand but feared being reported hence returning the monies to me.
Any roofer worth their salt should have been able to identify the lack of lead on the back stack.
Avoid at all costs, unless you want a slap dash job doing at a time that is convenient for VJR whenever they can be bothered turning up!

I phoned Peter for a quote on 8 July 19 and had a quick response to my request .Work started on my mid terrace victorian house on 6 August and was completed on Tuesday 13 August after a one day break due to weather plus an intervening weekend i. e a total of 5 working days to completion.Punctuality and professionalism are the hallmarks of this firm.They start early and, except for a mid morning break ,they work continuously until arriving at a suitable stage in the work ,to finish for the day .Careful attention is paid to weather conditions in order to avoid any possibility of damage to exposed areas of the structure during any period of inclement weather.The whole team work diligently throughout their time on task and even phoned on a Saturday morning to ensure that there had been no problems.We have been kept informed at all stages of the project about progress and anticipated termination dates .I have no hesitation in recommending Peter and his team for any roof related work that one might require in the future.Finally I would like to thank the whole team for their pleasantness and the attention to cleanliness of the working area during and after the project period. I contacted Peter regarding a leaking flat roof. I checked with other companies too (who quoted costs much higher than we expected on our large, 3 storey Victorian house). And actually it was only VJR who actually arranged a thorough inspection to the roof prior to quoting. We received a competitive quote and proceeded with the work which was completed this week. We're very happy with all aspects of the job including being informed along the way when the scaffolding would be erected and the roof work start date etc. I highly recommend VJR and would most definitely use again for any other roofing work that may be needed in the future. We cannot thank Peter and his team enough for the fantastic job they’ve done in removing our old roof and fitting a new one. It was a big job being four bedroom, but they did everything from sorting out the scaffolding and skips to fully replacing the existing tiles and repairing two flat roofs. They left a clean site afterwards and came in on budget and a day early. Both Pete and his team were highly professional, quiet, friendly and polite. Emergency repair need to an old flat roof for a 90 year old lady rang for quote, Peter went out of his way to help, gave a no messing about price & did the work in extra quick time. The company keep us well informed of what was happening with timescales nothing was too much trouble for them. I found VJR Roofing via a Google search and was impressed by the high rating in the customer reviews.
A telephone call to the company resulted in a site visit that day (We were lucky in that a delay on work elsewhere created that opportunity.
A verbal quotation, quickly followed by email confirmation allowed us to place our order. Work was on the specified date, completely to my satisfaction. Peter and his son Ryan worked very well, tidied up after themselves and left everything clean and tidy. I have no hesitation in recommending them for flat roof work.

I called Peter on the basis of the positive reviews and was not disappointed. He responded to my phone call immediately and arranged to call the same day. The problem was identified with photographs and options for resolution discussed. The scaffold tower was arranged and erected the next day and then Peter and his son completed the work the following day. The work was efficiently and tidily completed with photographs again showing the extent of the work as well as the damaged gulley etc being retained for examination. The scaffold was dismantled the day the work was completed and the property back to normal within 2 days of contacting Peter. Overall a very positive experience leading to this positive review. Peter was really helpful, explaining the existing problem to me before he gave a quote. He then honoured that quote even with a substantial time delay. When I asked if he could wait to do the work until a specific date he was happy to do so, although he had said he could do the work sooner if it suited me. Once he began the work he was always punctual and efficient. When he noticed additional problems with the house he pointed them out and recommended ways to mitigate/ solve them. He then recommended additional tradesmen for internal jobs I had pending. The quality of the work is perfect and was completed swiftly, in less time that was originally proposed. I was very impressed with Peter and his team, and have already recommended them to my neighbour.
I particularly needed someone who could repair a chimney stack as well as re-tiling a bay window and replacing/repairing gutters.
I felt confident that Peter knew what he was talking about when he looked at the condition of the chimney stack, and he was able to show me photos of the damage and explain what needed to be done. I felt that his quotation was very fair considering the amount of work that he and his team did. In the next year or so, our entire roof will need re-tiling and I will definitely be asking Peter back to do this work.
As well as the standard of work being very good, and the price being fair, it's always a bonus to deal with a company that turns up when they say they will, completes the work as scheduled, and does a really good job tidying up afterwards. I can't praise them highly enough!

We had VJR Roofing in to replace all the ridge tiles on our bungalow and garage with a dry ridge tile system. Our bungalow has an envelope-style roof, so the job was not simple and straightforward. Peter and his team arrived at 7.30am on the day as promised. They were quick, worked hard, and left our place clean and tidy. The job was completed in a day and we are very pleased with the results. Peter has been my next door neighbour for many years. Approximately five years ago Peter re-roofed his own house, making my roof and guttering look dated and dirty in comparison! Peter, his son Ryan and the rest of the VJR team have recently completed a large job on my house involving a new roof, new guttering and new panels on and around the flat roof of the carport. The quote was free and was provided in a timely fashion after the initial request. The work was carried out professionally and to an extremely high standard with minimal disruption to the house and garden. Despite the scale of the job and a few bad weather days, the work was completed in less than a week and any mess made was cleaned up thoroughly afterwards. The house and carport have now been transformed and look absolutely fantastic (especially when the sun’s out)!
