Absolutely phenomenal. The staff are incredible and took such good care of us. The food was top notch and guests are still talking about it! The cottages were beautiful and well catered for - even had milk, tea, coffee and treats for all guests. The venue itself is GORGEOUS! People said ‘Game of Thrones’ ‘Harry Potter’ ‘magical’ ‘fairy tale’ ‘perfect’ ‘rustic’ and so much more. Our entire wedding from Tuesday through to Thursday was seamless and we owe it entirely to the staff at Doxford Barns. Claire, Gemma and the team were all incredible and I cannot recommend them enough. They made our wedding the ‘wedding of the century’ (or so says a very happy guest)! The best day EVER!!! The venue is amazing !!!! It snowed and it was touch and go whether everyone would make it!! 7am the farmer was out clearing all the road so every guest made it! !!! The staff couldn’t do enough for us!!! Gemma Claudia and Sharon made sure no one wanted for anything xx nothing was too much trouble!! Claire was my wedding coordinator and honestly I couldn’t have done it without her she made sure everything was thought of and sorted she’s a brilliant addition to the team !!! We got married in July and the venue is stunning, however what made it truly memorable were the amazing staff at Doxford barns. they could not have done enough to help us and make us feel welcome, even changing the food choices for one guest on the morning of the wedding due to changes in dietary requirements. the chef on the day spoke to our guest on the phone to ask what she liked and what she could eat and created dishes especially. completely outstanding and personal treatment. Just wow! from the moment I visited there on a open day, the threshing hall took my breath away and the great barn so beautifully rustic. I knew it was the perfect venue for our big day. The fact you get the whole place for the weekend really made it for us. Arrival on the Friday we were met by the most friendly/relaxed and informative team members David, Gemma and Gina! who instantly made us and the bridal party feel welcome and at home. We were left to decorate and make the space personal and our own, however you want it. Obviously on hand when needed. communication on the Friday and on the day was 'flawless' and the service from the staff were first class as was the food. Ben and I got married at Doxford Barns on 01.08.18 and I can truly say it was magical, warm and full of love. Being able to stay there the night before really makes the whole experience that little bit more personal and family orientated. We arrived to the venue and straight away Gemma was there to help, asking if I needed anything. Once I was in the Barn I had the wonderful Emily on hand to help me with setting it up. Between Gemma, Emily and I we got people in the right places so the food service the next day would run smoothly. Both of the girls were awesome the day before, without them I would have felt even more stressed. I used to work with Gemma when I was in school and on the morning of my wedding to find out she was going to be running the day made me feel relaxed as I knew she would do everything in her power to make the day run smoothly. Any question I had she would have an answer to and if I needed anything she would sort it there and then. Throughout the meal Nick was so attentive and made sure Ben and I had drinks, checked the food was ok and always served us with a smile. He is a true gentleman. I was happy to see Emily working on the day of my wedding as she was so great the night before and it meant a lot to have yet another happy member of staff. She would check I was ok and we had a few conversations throughout the day. When her shift ended she came to say bye to me which I thought was the nicest thing ever. It made the day feel more personal and that Ben and I weren’t just a number. Lastly David and Nick were lovely on the morning after the wedding, they had put all of my belongings in on place for me to collect. Considering we had bricks as our centrepieces they did a brilliant job moving them all, as they were heavy. We didn’t feel rushed to leave the site, this I feel is great as we were able to just sit on the benches soaking it all up as the wedding day went so fast. Overall the whole experience was what I imagined and more, everybody loved the food, they loved the venue and that’s all I could ever ask for. The staff helped me out over the days I was there and made us both feel so special. I can’t thank Gemma enough for running the day and the rest of her team that she had working with her. We had the best weekend of our lives at Doxford Barns! We booked our wedding back when it first opened. We fell in love with the cottages, barn, threshing hall and the outstanding scenery! We visited every open evening they had, getting more and more excited! Each time there was something else that we noticed that made us 100% we had choosen the most perfect venue! In the run up to the wedding, Abi, Ellie and Charlotte listened to my mad rambling questions, chopped and changed everything each time there was something new to add and were just all round stars! The weekend of our wedding arrived and it was perfect in every sense of the word. Nothing was a problem, the staff made everyone feel at ease and at home! Where do you start on doing a recommendation for a venue which needs no words! The setting and all of the buildings to make the venue are amazing. From booking this stunning place for our wedding with 18 months to go, even a change in wedding coordinator did not pose a problem. Emails were passed back and forth and meetings set up when we wanted to have a catch up on a few things (And another look around as we love the place). From arriving to set up on the sunday to leaving after breakfast on the Tuesday, everything went so smooth it's hard to believe! We were kept in the loop of what was about to happen on the morning and throughout the day of our wedding and it made the nerves a lot better to cope with. David and Abi even went the extra mile and put the biggest smile on one of our bridesmaids face when the promise of a cuddle off one of the Labour puppies was fulfilled. It's little touches like that that show how relaxed and friendly this place is. The only problem is....... it's now all over! We had a fabulous wedding day at Doxford Barns at the weekend could not recommend this venue to anymore anymore than I have absolutely perfect day and there attention to detail was second to none. So professional, well organised. Gina is so lovely with fantastic attention to details, she looked after us the build up to the big day, the morning of the wedding, throughout the ceremony and totally saved the day to make the day even better and we now have a funny story to laugh about afterwards with regards to one of the best men! � David and Nick really lovely guys they looked after us after the ceremony into the evening they are so professional and want to make your day special. We got married at Doxford Barns a couple of weeks ago and it truly was phenomenal! We really couldn't have asked for a better venue. The service was outstanding - we were looked after so well by all the lovely staff. Gemma and David were remarkable; always on hand to help and never made us feel like a burden, despite us constantly seeking their assistance! They immediately put us at ease and couldn't have been any better. Emily and Abi were fantastic in making sure the ceremony ran perfectly and Jess, who sadly wasn't there on the day, was brilliant in answering all our emails in the 20 months between us booking the venue and actually getting married! We would also like to mention the food. WOW. We went to a tasting evening a year prior to our big day and were blown away, but it was even better on the day! All of our guests commented on how beautifully presented each dish was and how delicious it tasted. We would absolutely recommend this venue to anyone looking to have the perfect wedding day. We got married here in March. We attended Doxford Barns almost 2 years ago when were looking to plan our wedding. After looking around for 15 minutes and meeting some of the people our minds and hearts were set. The communication throughout booking and leading up to the wedding was fast and efficient. The planning meetings and any random requests we had were easily accommodated. We were extremely fortunate with the weather and were able to go to the lake for some stunning photos. Tom drove us and his son drove our photographers. When we got back as it was planning season we also had some photos taken with the lambs too. I cannot praise everyone who works at this venue enough. From booking and planning to being there for us on the day. Any request was no big deal as they bent over backwards to ensure our wedding was the best day it could be. It's a well oiled machine full of genuinely friendly people. The food was stunning and fresh, you can tell it's all locally sourced. We were married at Doxford Barns on 7th April and we can honestly say it was the best day of our lives. Thankyou from the bottom of our hearts for allowing us to have this most special day at your amazing venue. We fell in love with Doxford Barns from the first time we saw it and truly believe there is no better venue in the north east. It is absolutely beautiful & even though it rained all day on our wedding it really didn’t matter as the internal venue is so gorgeous. We would like to send special thanks to Jess, Abi, Emily, Gemma & David. Jess & Abi helped us throughout the whole planning process & helped us to create our most perfect day. Emily is an absolute star! She was just amazing on our wedding day - she constantly checked I was ok throughout the morning, reassured me all was going to plan, kept me calm, covered me with umbrellas in the rain and was just so so lovely. It felt like a friend looking after me rather than a member of staff. Gemma was outstanding aswell and went above & beyond from the moment we arrived on the Friday. She was just as enthusiastic & happy to help at 2am as she was first thing in the morning. David was equally extremely supportive & helpful throughout and greeted all our guests with a smile. All of the other staff were fantastic aswell but we felt these 5 needed an extra special mention. Thankyou so so much from the bottom of our hearts. It is quite amazing how special you make each wedding couple feel and yet you obviously have many couples getting married each month. Our family and friends have just celebrated my daughter Jodie, and my now son in law Stephen's wedding at doxford barn's. What a fantastic venue . We arrived on Friday 23 February for 2 nights stay at the venue, staying in the cottages. We were met by the lovely Gemma (Nicholson) who was coordinating the wedding. There are 8 cottages all rangeing in size. The cottages are beautiful , clean and quaint, all with logburning fires, which is ideal for this time of year. There is everything imaginable for your stay, washing machine , fridge, cooker etc. A welcome pack of Milk, bread, tea etc was provided in each cottage along with toiletries. On the Friday evening the family had a meal in the venue, which everyone agreed was absolutely beautiful. I would like to thank all the bar staff for the fantastic job they did over the weekend, they were all pleasant, polite, and could not do enough for you. Last but not least I want to say a very BIG THANK YOU to Gemma for making my daughter's wedding day so special and one we will not forget. Gemma you are a real Gem!!! It says so in your name!! You were the first friendly face we saw when we arrived, and the last face we saw when we left. Gemma is friendly, polite and respectful, and she could not do enough for you. Gemma is an absolute asset to Doxford Barns, I hope Gemma gets the appreciation she deserves, and continues to be part of making many other people's wedding day a special one . Absolutely Amazing. From Friday evening to Wedding on Saturday and Breakfast on Sunday , the staff were truly outstanding, friendly, pleasant, helpful, even one member took some guest back to their accommodation at 1am how above and beyond duty is that. Venue is truly magical and romantic it has a fairytale quality at The Threshing Hall. Food fantastic everyone commented how fresh and local ingredients were. Cottages were superb, had everything you could need even down to dishwasher tablets. Very warm, we had a roaring fire also, which you didn’t need on, but was great to have, all logs provided. Quite literally the wedding venue of our dreams!!! Well, I'll be honest, my dreams (the hubby didn't have a clue about weddings until we started planning ours), but as soon as soon as we both paid a visit there was no other choice. Rustic, relaxed and yet so elegant and charming all at once. Our wedding planner, Jess, was so attentive from the start and available to answer all questions, even on the day itself. The team had everything in hand, so all I had to worry about was not crying as I walked down the aisle. The venue speaks for itself: from the threshing hall, to the great barn and the lake. I won't go in to much detail here... look at the website and then go see for yourself. Having so many different areas, meant there were plenty of places for people to relax and lots of photo opportunities. The cottages were beautifully kept, and large enough to house two families and the bridal party. I especially loved all the little touches in the Hayloft, including the monographed shortbread! The day itself ran like clockwork, the cocktails and canapés were complimented by the guests, and the wedding breakfast was to die for! The team allowed us to tailor our food choices to meet everyone's tastes and honestly, it was faultless... right down to the last slice of toast for breakfast the day after. Alnwick has always been a special place for us, and Doxford has firmly cemented that sentiment. I cannot recommend them highly enough to any future brides-to-be!!
