Alan is a wonderful instructor. Because of him, I gained confidence and felt like I was actually learning how to improve as a driver. I had just exchanged my International licence to a full UK license and wanted refresher lessons to get used to UK roads. Luckily I found Alan, he knows his stuff. Within the first 10mins of being in the car with him I knew it was money well spent. He took me through all the roads and different rules and things I needed to know. Being a 10yr experienced driver myself (driving on a different side of the road) I could have driven and gotten used to the roads here in the UK on my own but learning things I did with Alan probably helped me be a more aware driver. Alan understood quickly what level of a driver I was and immediately tailored the lessons to my needs. I was lucky to meet Alan through recommendation from a colleague (she also passed). As a mature student, I was nervous about learning to drive, and it didn’t help that my experience with a previous instructor hadn't been very positive, however Alan from the first session put me completely at ease and I felt very comfortable driving with him. He really helped me overcome my initial challenges. I value his depth of experience, assertiveness and honesty with feedback, meaning I knew exactly where I always was with my progression. He provided great tips in any areas I needed help with and I honestly feel my skills improved optimally from lesson to lesson. He is not commercial minded and will guide you with all honesty. Alan is GREAT! Passed my test this morning and went into the test really calm and confident thanks to Alan's excellent teaching technique. He's calm, measured and has great timing pointing out the rules of the road. He's flexible when it comes to lesson timings and will go out of his way to accommodate. He teaches in such a way that you retain all the knowledge right up to test day. He's fantastic at adapting to what style works for you and you never feel nervous driving in the car with him. I found the experience of learning to drive with Alan very enjoyable, and the lessons extremely thorough and well planned. He taught me to drive in far fewer lessons than anticipated. I was always emailed lesson notes in advance so that time was not wasted at the beginning of each lesson explaining what we were going to do. He also emailed me a list of tricky junctions to practice outside of lessons and gave me advice about the theory test, learner driver insurance and all that goes with learning to drive. If your looking for a driving instructor with a great, calm driving instructors temperament then I suggest you look no further than Alan at Tulip driving school. I opted for his intense driving program picking me up at 7am for 10 days (he was NEVER late, niether was I :-) and he guided me through the whole process and I passed the practical driving test with only 1 minor fault. Alan got my wife through the test on the second attempt. What impressed me was that after the first test he didn't try to make as much money out of lessons as he could have but advised us upon what to practice before the next test. My wife took a couple of lessons with Alan before the second test and passed nicely in his car.The Panda is an excellent car to learn in and to take the test.
