My daughter started training with James last summer. Ten months down the line and her physical health and her strength have improved dramatically. She is leaner, stronger and the positive effects of her training can be seen even down to her posture. And all those times when life got to her, it was James who kept her focussed, who motivated her, encouraged her, and talked to her again and again, for as long as it would take. Despite the demands of school (S5 Higher year) and all the complicated pressures that come with being a teenager, I have a healthy 17 year old who is happy in her body, who has a positive outlook on life and a determined mind – this is no mean feat, and we have James to thank for that. Due to a previous injury from training at a national level and battling depression I have gained immense weight (100kg), as I was unable to mentally or physically challenge myself to lose weight and get back to my former fitness level. I have been training with James for only a short while now (11 weeks), and he has not only helped me to regain the focus I needed to start me on my weight loss and body development journey but also made me believe in myself again, which enabled me to mentally push myself past my limits. James showed me that you can push yourself harder than you think and goes above and beyond for all his clients. Moreover, James aids you with your nutrition and tailors the workout to your specific needs, which was immensely important due to my injury and helping me create healthy eating habits. I lost 8.5 kg and 17.5 inches all around my body in such as short amount of time, which I did not think possible. If it wasn’t for James’s positive, supportive and motivational attitude, I would not have been able to lose and train to the standard I did. James gave me my gym induction 3 months ago, and so far has set up two 6 week programs for me. He took the time to ask me about my goals and design a work out plan that I could easily fit around work.
His help has given me the confidence and motivation to lift heavy, lift safely, and generally push myself harder. He seems genuinely invested in my progress and gives great encouragement to keep going.
I would definitely recommend James to my friends!

James has set up a 12 week program for me and has been training me on a Monday and Tuesday. I struggle to push myself when I'm at the gym on my own but with james there I feel like I am more committed and push myself while he pushes me as well. We are building up my strength at the moment and making sure I'm lifting right and james is being really patient with me while I get it right. Only had a couple of sessions with James so far but I can honestly say, I'm loving it! I've never really used a gym before, I was really quite nervous to be out of my comfort zone and he completely put me at ease and is happy to give advice when needed regarding things like form or nutrition. I am a current client of James’ and am posting to share my experience so far.
We started off by assessing technique and mobility, which highlighted some areas that I needed to work on in order to reap maximum benefit from my training. After sticking to James’ recommendations I have already noticed significant improvements in mobility in a matter of weeks. I had also been experiencing lower-back pain after certain workouts (specifically deadlift and leg press), and James suggested tweaking my form in certain lifts and I have been pain-free since.
James then designed a programme for me and has helped me learn the levels of intensity that I can reach during my workout. I can honestly say that I haven’t worked this hard in the gym for years, and I’m finding my motivation levels higher than they have been for a long time. We’ve also assessed and changed diet to maximise reward.
I certainly recommend James as a PT – whether you’re a complete beginner or need help in progression. If I could go back I would have done this much earlier.

I joined the gym and had my induction with James and was very nervous but James put me at ease straight away. I decided to get him to make up a program for me and when he said I'd be lifting weights I wasn't too sure but now I really enjoy it. He pushes me to do things at the gym I would never have the confidence to do on my own and if there's something I really don't like he will change it. He changes my program slightly every 8 weeks so I don't get bored. He's very supportive and always believes i can do something even when I don't believe it myself. I would highly recommend James. I have been working with James since October now and I can see so many improvements already. I had little to no confidence in the gym before being with him and now I have so much knowledge about the apparatus and body movements. Not only does he help you reach your goals but along the way he even teaches you about nutrition, muscle growth and how the body works in general! James also has a knack for pushing you past your limit but keeping you at ease at the same time. It's been great working with him so far and I'm looking forward to seeing me being more body confident as the months roll by! Working with James has exceeded my expectations. I’ve only been working with James for about 9 weeks and I have already lost 4. 5kg.
I’ve always leaned more towards cardio workouts in the past but James has got me doing weight training which has actually helped me achieve weight loss more quickly than I’ve experienced previously whilst simultaneously toning and I could not be happier.
James is very focused on technique and alignment before building heavy weight which has been so important for me as I’ve had a weakness in my back that has been holding me back. Because James is so conscientious about ensuring technique is right and building strength in the right way, my back actually feels better than it has done in a long time which is unbelievable.
The other aspect James has been helping me with is diet. I am now on a high protein diet that has me eating significantly less calories every day yet I am actually fuller than I was and have much less need to snack. It’s got to be one of the best and most sustainable diets I know.
I’ve absolutely loved working with James, I feel so much better for it and plan to keep working with him for the foreseeable.

I have been working with James for about 4 weeks and I can see improvements already. I had little confidence before I met James with going to the gym. He motivates you to continue going through the pain and he’s such a nice guy. He also helps you with your nutrition side of things which is a great help especially since I only really ate takeaways before I started with him. I have enjoyed working with him so far and I’m looking forward to continuing with him. James will be your trainer but he will also be your friend whenever you need him he’s always there.
