Our experience working with The Simon Foundation to adopt a dog could not have been better! Danielle, adoption specialist worked with us and asked all the right questions to make sure a perfect match was made! There were so many beautiful well behaved dogs/pups! It was obvious that training was already in progress with the pups. Our pup Hanson, aka Hans already knew how to sit nice. It was so great to see the workers and the pride they take in finding great homes for the animals in their care! Great organization... made the process go so positive for all! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff love the dog they take good care of them there was an application process but they handled it within a day or two and that was appreciated and they were so helpful when he brought the dog back for some training and insight into our wonderful new pet thank you

The simon foundation is the only place i will ever adopt a pet from in CT. not to say the others arent great but this shelter is amazing. I just adopted blazey a one year old cattle dog/pt mix who is an absolute angel. The lovely Danielle helped me immediately find the perfect furry friend for my small family, she took her time to educate me and followed up after we left to make sure blazey was acclimating well. I was looking for a place to train my dog and the Simon Foundation came highly recommended. I previously took my dog to one of the big box stores training class and was not very impressed. I can tell you hands-down it’s been night and day with the level of training. Sue and the rest of the crew are amazing with the animals and owners. Can't say enough good things about Simon Foundation. They care more about the ANIMALS then disappointing your family, which is how you want this type of place to be. You cannot just walk in and expect to take a dog home that day. They require potential adopters to fill out an application with lots of questions, and they really do check-up on your references to be sure the animal is going to a good (in their opinion) home. They want the animal to succeed and are looking out for the animal's best interest. For boarding, they are always friendly and willing to accommodate as best they can. This is a non-profit organization, so they also appreciate monetary and in-kind donations. These folks are doing very, very good work and deserve your respect and patronage. More...

I adopted my dog, now known as Chloe from there about 2 years ago now. The adoption process was extremely thorough on the foundations part. They would not approve my application for adoption until all speaking with all my references, checking into the information I had marked down, etc. in other words be patient with the application process! This organization really cares about where their animals go, and making sure they get good homes! Then, when it came time to picking up a dog I became even more impressed. I had my choice of pick out of a litter of about 7..(All such cute puppies, so a very hard choice to make) but I had so much support in my decision from staff. When I narrowed it down to my pick of two of the puppies, one specific worker was providing be information regarding each dog (a male and a female puppy), the long term prediction of the dogs behavior, and advice regarding training with each dog. I found this very helpful and very confronting. Chloe has been the best part of my life, she’s grown to be a fun, loving, and well behaved healthy dog.
