The Portrait Dude

Met Wes for the first time this weekend and not only is this gentleman one of the sweetest people to meet, but you can see his talent IMMEDIATELY shine through, eve through the screen on the back of his camera.

My wife and I were discussing how you KNOW a photographer is talented when they haven't even TOUCHED Photoshop and their photos are absolutely surreal.

Had the pleasure of recently shooting with Wes at his studio. Been wanting to book a studio shoot with him for a while and so I was stoked that my schedule allowed me this opportunity. The changing area supplied on site is wonderful and allowed me to execute my costume changes nicely. The shoot was a mixture of chatting movies, comics, goofing off and capturing cosplay magic. I don't think I could gush enough about Wes, honestly. I'd always admired his work from afar, and last night a friend introduced me to him and we ended up doing an improptu shoot. I am amazed at what fantastic work he was able to pull off in such a small amout of time! He was friendly, fun, professional, and easygoing--the whole process was an absolute breeze. I also love the way he does his galleries and distribution, it's very comprehensive and user-friendly (bonus points for not charging you out the wazoo for basic functions and add-ons!) I’ll admit I was a little bit nervous when I first booked, I’d never shot with a male photographer before and I’ve heard the horror stories in the cosplay community as I’m sure everyone else has. My daughter is so into Cosplay but is too shy to really have photos done. I scheduled with The Portraitdude, fully trusting his expertise to work with my daughter. He did such a fabulous job! The session was super professional. He made her feel comfortable enough to do a few poses! It was a great experience for her. Wes is a total pro in his field. The photos are amazing! I can’t say enough great things about Wes and our group cosplay shoot we did at his studio! He has a great eye, amazing energy, he’s funny & laud back and at the same time a consummate progressional! The very large bathroom was a plus as we had multiple people changing & getting ready there. So Wes, I can honestly say is one of the nicest guys I have ever met in dealing with a business of his magnitude. Besides being nice, the guy is a photography savant. My photoshoot with Wes was the first time I have ever set up a real professional shoot for one of my costumes from start to finish. The experience was phenomenal! He made me feel really confident and worked with my group of mermaids like a professional mer-handler! He was clear in his instructions and had amazing photo ideas and poses for each our mermaids. There was so many great pictures I had a difficult time choosing which ones I wanted!
He and his wife are both amazing beautiful souls and I look forward to my next project with him!

I first met Wes years ago when my friend Dancing Mad Cosplay first introduced us. I knew right there and then, that there was something special and memorable about this guy. He gets totally into every shot and gets about as excited about your shots as you do. He goes out of his way to show you how amazing how you look and acts extremely professional with every interaction. He's a hell of a guy who takes breathtaking photos with little to no editing. I was lucky enough to meet Wes two years ago at C2E2 in 2017. That time I had him shoot my Ghostbusters cosplay. This was my first ever convention and being able have such an amazing shoot with Wes made for an even memorable experience. When I decided I was going to C2E2 again, there was no doubt I was going to book with Wes with my Indiana Jones cosplay. Each shoot he did he blew my mind with his crazy talents and ability to point, click, and make an amazing shot. He is super down to earth and makes the whole experience a one of a kind joy.
