Had never seen the current series of the TV show but it didn’t impact my enjoyment. The musical was fantastic. It was hilarious through and through. The entire cast was great, the singing was great. The harmonies were great. The script was smart, pointed and moving. Went with 3 others (one not so willing). We all loved it. Well done. We will be at the next iteration. Went home and watched 3 episodes of Queer Eye back to back. Brava! More...

This theater is a great place to see improv for a steal and I love to watch performers try their 5 minutes of characters here. It's located in a great area surrounded by wonderful bars and restaurants. I love to catch a show at the playground and then make my way to Shakers for a drink. More...

Improv really works best in small, intimate spaces, but Chicago's comedy culture has shifted to larger venues. That's one of the reasons why The Playground is a gem: the room is cozy and harkens back to improv's DIY roots. The space is like an old friend who laughs really hard at your dumb jokes and always has a cold one waiting for you. (Note: not literally, it's BYOB so you'll have to buy your own beer. Great ambience! The theater is very cozy. Non stop laughing with the funniest lyrics I’ve heard. I highly recommend to anybody who wants to have a great laugh and a good old fashion sing along, with the perfect backdrop!
