Great theater. I visit every weekend with friends.
Neighborhood friendly, first-run movies, great prices...
Always friendly staff. Can't beat the prices, great neighborhood theater.
Love the theater, the prices and everything. The only negative is that it was very cold in the theater tonight.
This place is an awesome little hidden gem. It's cozy, inexpensive, great for impromptu date nights, and they have nice staff. I would definitely recommend coming here vs the big name theaters. More...
First- run movies. Bargain
Very nice neighborhood movie theatre . It's very clean and the staff that works at the place it's awesome . We just love this place !!
I have always loved this theater since I was a kid. My older sister used to bring me up here when she first moved to Rogers Park. This small and quaint theater is perfect. They only have four rooms for showing but somehow they make it work. The tickets are cheap and they have some type of deal every day of the week, which is awesome for Loyola students and those of the neighborhood. They also sell liquor here and it is super cheap but good quality. They have a calendar that notifies people of the movie releases etc. The staff is super knowledgeable and friendly and respectable. For the month of October they are attempting to start a tradition of showing all Halloween movies (old and new). More...
This is my favorite movie theater.. they have the best popcorn and their price is very reasonable.. will always come back for sure:)
The staff at the 400 is amazing! I was in a panic trying to plan my daughters 13th birthday and The 400 theater came to the rescue! Madisen the event manager was amazing. She helped pull everything together with ease and was VERY patient with me through the entire process. Jake the gm was amazing as well. He made sure I had everything I needed the day of the party. I forgot the two ladies behind the bar and front desk but they were both amazing as well. More...

Me and my family we love this place. It's a small size theater but we friendly staff nd a affordable prices
Fantastic theater - small, cozy and local atmosphere without feeling too modern. A rare spot that's fairly priced - if you go on a midnight release show you might be able to get a ticket, (specialty themed) drink and popcorn for the price of a ticket at some of your large corporation theaters.Staff go above and beyond - always warm and friendly but I was especially impressed when one night an employee and a manager ensured that a group of people who would not stop yelling at each other during a movie (Joker, of course it had to be this one out of the hundred times I've been here) were escorted out of the theater in the most professional manner.Always try to bring friends, family and dates here and would recommend this place to anyone. More...
Wonderful place to see a movie!
The crew here deserves a round of applause. Always friendly and accommodating, the staff really go above and beyond to make the moviegoing experience a breeze. If an incident crops up, they're on it in a flash. A staple of Roger's Park. Shout-out to Madisen and the team at the Sunday night showing. We WILL be coming back! More...
Cheap tickets, great venue!
Good local spot for movies. Decent selection of drinks. Need a little updating.

Small neighborhood theater, super cute and affordable
Why does it need to be so cold in there?
Small but all very well and the people who attend very friendly I really like going to this place in the neighborhood.Pequeño pero muy bien las personas que atienden muy amables me encanta ir a este cine en mi vecindario.
Rick J Campagnola
Small and local it is always great to be able to walk to a movie from my house!
It's our naborhood theater we just saw it chapter 2 there.
Cool staff. Clean bathroom
Good customer service just not modern enough. But really enjoyed the movie
One of my favorite theaters in Rogers Park 34 years
Staff is always really nice. Will help you to your seat if it's too dark to see. Will also help you carry your concessions if you need it. The only drawback is you if you're more than 20 minutes late they won't let you in to view the movie you'll have to wait till the next one. Bathrooms are always clean. More...
Classic small movie theater. It reminds me of the small town theaters I went to growing up.
Nice & quiet place always go to 400 theater

The staff is so very friendly. The theaters are small and not fancy like the cinemas, but you can't beat the ticket and snack prices as well as the service.
Great theater that always has first run flicks in an intimate setting, with awesome beer, wine, and cocktails. Need a good spot to take the kids to see that new pokemon movie and hoping for a cocktail to make it all go down easier? This. Looking for a perfect date night spot? This. Good people, great ticket prices, always something fun on the drinks list. Kind've a perfect neighborhood theater! More...
Love this place able to come with my kids and watch movies all in my neighborhood
I love the cozy theaters & pricing specials they have. They even have a bar.
My go to for family outings!
Nice place, not expensive
Nothing nothing super fancy but I love neighborhood feel and friendly staff and you can't beat the prices. Concessions much more reasonable here compared to your big chain theaters abd they have daily deals on drinks. Yes, this theater sells drinks! The neighborhood is really fun as well plus we've never had trouble finding street parking. More...
Love this location. Use to go on dates here. Great place, great location.
Tickets mostly $7
Great independent theater

It’s a decent place Food and Drinks Aren’t as expensive paid about 38 dollars for 6ppl not bad I recommend it.
It is a cute theater to go to. the prices are great. the drink special is affordable. And its between other great food place's. And the workers are very friendly.
great fun and cheap place to go with friends! tuesday deal for students is great and affordable. A little pricey for the popcorn but overall pretty good spot to go to, whether as a group, date or even by yourself, it's worth it.great that it's by the beach and other restaurants to go to beforehand/afterwards. When I lived in Edgewater this was my one and only place for movies, since it was walking distance from me. Small, cozy, good service and amazing price. If you are looking for luxury, this is definitely NOT the place for you. But if you care about supporting a small business and watching the main latest releases, this is definitely the place for you. They also sell beer and other drinks for surprisingly cheap, so you really cannot beat how convenient and amazing having a place like this walking distance from you, is! :) More...
It’s a small, cozy theater sort of..but overall nice to see movies here..cool atmosphere
Great local spot! I’ve been going there for years.
I love this theater! It's super affordable, the staff are awesome, and the snacks are reasonably priced. You can watch a movie and get snacks for less than the cost of a movie at a mainstream theater. I also thought the quality of the movie was great and the seats were comfortable. This isn't a high end movie theater, but they do play great movies, and you will have a great time! More...
This is a great little theater, cheap tickets, good drink deals, comfy seats, friendly staff. I'm so glad to be walking distance from them.
If you're a well-behaved adult, you can buy booze & snacks and watch a first-run movie on the big screen. Hey, I knew I'd have you at hello! It's a neighborhood cinema, so don't expect coliseum seats and valet parking. But neither will you trip over duct-taped torn carpets and perverts. It's my happy-medium theater. Prices are more than reasonable, the staff is on the ball, and there are good nearby eateries. Loyola Park and Lake Michigan are a half-block away, for those romantic dates. More...
This theater is old but pretty comfortable. The popcorn is cheap, but they don't have a lot of food choices. Just hot dogs and popcorn. And I think nachos. They do have a full bar though. More...
I like so much this place because is close to my house and I have so many restaurants around.
Great multiplex theater at low prices. In the summer time various Bands perform out front of the theater where you can enjoy drink specials. Cafes, ice cream, various restaurants and Sports bars are close by. More...
Best movie theater with great prices
It's a nice little gem. I live in the area, so it's nice to be able to stay in the neighborhood and still have the movie theater experience.
Like the people they are nice.
Big and roomy.
Play nice movie and easy for me take short cut my home

I actually really like this theater. My favorites are Cinemark in Evanston, AMC's Webster, AMC's Block 37, Icon Showplace, and The 400 Theater. It's not as fancy as the other 3, but it's nice to not have to drive and they have a full bar. They even offer a double serving of wine. I love that. The seats are comfortable and the movie quality is pretty good for the low-price movies they choose. They always have the best movies out for viewing. They get a 5 star review from me. More...
A great locally owned and operated theater. The prices are great, and the selection of beer is pretty solid as well. You can't go wrong! Check out their website, because they do have specials throughout the week. More...
Awesome staff, I tip every time. They're really friendly, have great drinks (though I think they could expand their bar a bit) and it's super clean. Will be going back.
This place is great! Very close to the Loyola campus and a lot cheaper than other movie theaters. This place is relatively small but its kept in good shape. Theres a full bar and concessions stand built in so no need to worry about any of that. Definitely stop by if you're trying to catch the latest flick at a quarter of the price! Bring your student ID for a discount too. More...

$5 Tuesdays. Great opportunity to see first run movies on a budget.
cheap seats but still good. For others I'm guessing would be the alcohol sold.

What would happen if the Twilight Zone / Outer Limits / The Night Gallery had a three way gang bang? Us. Been a long time since I enjoyed a good horror movie.
Looking for a cheap date? You found your spot. This independently ran movie theater sits in the heart of Rogers Park and is within walking distance from the Loyola Campus. For the price of a movie ticket at an AMC, you can get your ticket, a drink (like a drink drink) and some snacks. The staff is fun and energetic. You can tell they love their job. As for the theater, it's what you would expect. Nothing fancy and pretty standard as far as movie theaters are concerned. You have seats, sound and that random sticky spot. If you feel like talking during the movie or whipping out your phone, DON'T. The staff won't hesitate to kick you out. I've seen it. For someone who easily gets annoyed during a movie, it's a Godsend. That, alone, keeps me coming back. Anyway, if you're in the area, check it out and support your local businesses! More...

This has been my neighborhood movie theater since I’ve been a kid. I love coming here. I love the staff. I love the old school theater vibe and neighborhood orientated environment. I’ll always come here.
Stephen James Hanthorn
Can’t recommend this place highly enough. Looking at other reviews, it seems people’s issue is with other patrons more so than with the facility and staff itself. They are a lean crew for sure, however I’ve found they are super responsive to guests whenever there have been issues. They AREN’T going to kick someone out right away because 1) they aren’t cops, and 2) it’s not their job to police the audience. Think of it this way: if someone was at your place of work causing an uncommon or inconsiderate disturbance, are you going to be the volunteer hall monitor? At the end of the day, The New 400 doesn’t posture as if they have the IMAX Ultra super duper next gen movie experience- they provide movies to the community at a fair price. I’d rather sit in a theater with a family spending an afternoon or evening together at the movies with kids running around than next to someone who is constantly ordering food throughout the entire movie, causing wait staff to bring a guy the 3rd course of his movie meal right at the climax of the story. More...
Great early movie. Clean and semi quiet. The parents and young children were out to see the new Marvel movie, a bit too talkative for my taste.
Great little neighborhood movie theater. Prices are great, and the cta service can't be beat if you live in the area. It does fill up quickly though if you go on an opening weekend, so plan accordingly (I would get there early to buy tickets, then go get lunch or dinner in the area, you have plenty of options).
cheap tickets for new releases
Love this quaint neighborhood theater !!
clean, courteous and affordable
As others mentioned, this place is fantastic for a movie night because the rooms are small enough where you can get cozy. The tickets are at a reasonable price so I'd love to make this my main theater to watch movies! Also, I went yesterday for Valentine's Day and it was the best time I had. More...
I love love love these guys! Their events are amazing and well worth!
It is my neighborhood show, and I like the upgraded amenities, as well as the breaks for seniors. Capable and pleasant staff. They are not expected to be nor trained as security guards -- but when issues arose, common sense and fairness prevailed. More...
Very cozy theatre, almost like a family theatre. Great for birthday parties. Plays newest movies as well as older favorites. Not the newest theatre, so seats are old, the rooms don't get pitch black during movies (family plus for the small children). It's an experience to take in and enjoy with the whole family. More...
This is the best value on the north side for a movie. They recently remodeled (it was needed) so the prices went up to $6 for kids and $8.50 for adults for a regular show, $5 on Tuesdays. I went on a Sunday at 4 pm and was charged $12 for two people so I think the matinee fee is $6 per person. Despite the price increase, they're still cheaper than any other theater. Parking can be kind of tough because a lot of the side streets are permit parking zoned but if you don't mind walking a few blocks it'll be fine. The theaters and bathrooms are pretty clean plus you can buy beer - which is always necessary. More...
The ambience and cleanliness, plus the quality of the movies
it's very cozy place . i feel like i m watching movie at home. it's a nice neighborhood movie theater
Cute, affordable, cozy neighborhood theater

Fantastic theater great bar love being able to take my drinks to my seat and the price of tickets are unbelievable
I love coming here because of the price, but sometimes you get what you pay for. The place is clean, friendly, up to date with movies and has a bar. Sometimes people talk too much or play on the cell. More...
RENOVATIONS completed and they've made some great changes. Seats, screens and other aesthetics. I love this little local theatre and think the surrounding neighborhoods should continue to support it.
I usually have a pretty fun time when I go here
The New 400 is a theater that takes you in and makes you a part of the family. My best moviegoing experience in recent memory was here, the staff is attentive and fun, and everything there is moderately priced. Not to mention, tickets are a steal during the work week. There's no reason to go anywhere else. More...
What I like about this theater is how easily accessible it is. And I really like how they've started implementing a Discount day on Tuesdays. It helps if you wanna see more than one movie. I know it's going to help me a lot. The theaters are always clean, the staff is friendly. They finally have hot water in their men's restroom sink. It's a decent run of the mill theater. More...
I've gone to this theatre several times and have enjoyed it each and every single time. This is not some upscale theatre that your used to, it's better! It's quaint and cozy. Feels like you're walking into a neighborhood treasure. Did I mention it's SUPER cheap! ! More...

This is a great neighborhood movie house. The staff is friendly and helpful. The concessions are affordable.
It's a pretty great movie theatre experience for not a lot of money. Nice and small without being claustrophobic. The updates over the past few years have really improved the place. Friendly, local staff just add to the charm. More...
The staff is always friendly. I like that they make it a point to say goodbye as you leave. I usually get soda and pop corn but have tried their other things as well. Nothing special but decently priced.
Speaking of which, it's hard to beat their prices for first-run shows. The theatres are comfortable. The only thing is that perhaps a bit more sound-proofing between rooms would be nice. More...
Friendly staff. Beer at the movies! Good popcorn. Ticket prices are kept low so I go more often. The New 400 is one of the reasons I plan to stay in the neighborhood when I move in a few months.
Well I came to see alien covenant with a friend and the manger let us go in a little early and then these two man came in and weren't happy to see us sitting their . One of the guys became nasty with us and told us he would make our night hell . So my friend went to get the manger and he came in quick to handle the problem right away and put this guy in this place which we had no other problem after that . Great job for making sure we were safe More...

Apart from the parking issues, everything is ok for me. I was invited by my daughter . The place is on the bus route and easy to find. It's cosy and the bathrooms are close by so you won't be wasting time trying to find one. The bathrooms can be cleaner though. The price is good for the place. I would go there again and would recommend it to a friend who doesn't want to deal with huge crowds. More...
I’ve been to this movie theater twice on two separate occasions while visiting Chicago, the last time a few days ago. I enjoyed both visits, with it’s small neighborhood movie feel. It’s not a modern theater and definitely has charm. The ticket prices cannot be beat and both times there were two for one cocktail/wine specials. I’ll definitely be back at that theater. More...

Went there last to see the Black Panther Premiere and it was awesome. I’ve been going to this theater for years and it has always been a good experience I highly recommend this place good prices and great staff
A pleasant, affordable, neighborhood movie theater(s). They show the latest films, have friendly staff, and even offer alcoholic beverages. Several great little eateries nearby if you plan on a meal before or after the show. No parking, except what you can find on the street, but it is on a major thoroughfare, so there are several public transportation options. More...
My partner and I frequent The New 400 because of the theatre’s tremendous service, first run movies, and themed drink deals. The staff are super friendly, accommodating, and personable. They have drink deals every day of the week and often create cocktails inspired by the movies currently playing. They have 1/2 movie tickets on Tuesday, offer student discounts, and have VIP packages that are affordable and rad. The popcorn prices are so cheap compared to chain theaters. The space is comfortable, cozy, and one hallway has glow in the dark, one of a kind designs! The New 400 is just super affordable, local, and kind. Oh! And they often host local film festivals so the space is used for commercial and community reasons. They’re truly involved with expanding and displaying film! They care! I highly recommend checking out this gem of a place and keeping something so fantastic in business. More...
Love it! Cheap, right in the area. Popcorn is very good and it's all so cheap compared to literally any other theatre. It's actually a decent price overall. I love their random things like Halloween week, where prices were like $3 for old horror movies. So great.
I also love that they serve alcohol. Margaritas, good. More...

The New 400 is a very charming little mom & pop style theater. The workers are very nice and they have fun events. Don't expect it to be fancy, just homey with nice folks :)
It was a good experience. The cost was not high. The theaters were the right size for the crowd. It was okay. I do not eat since they stopped intermissions so I cannot comment on the food but folks seemed happy.
It's a Divy movie theater that's cool as hail... A Chicago staple no frills...old seats...old floors...great staff...don't change a thing...
I love a small neighborhood movie theatre. It has been some time since I was able to enjoy such an experience. Comfy seats and always a friendly group of employees. More...
As a poor college student this place is a dream. Tickets are around $6 each, snacks aren't crazy expensive. I recommend this theater to everyone! More...
Happy to have enjoyed watching the Loyola Chicago-Kansas game on the big screen. Thank you!
Went to this theater to see Black Panther for the second time. I love that this theater is cheap and sells alcohol. The building is older and doesnt have recline or reserved seating but it brings back the nostalgia of how movie theaters were before when I was a kid. Plus, with tickets as cheap as $6 before 6pm and having drink specials everyday of the week, you really can't go wrong. I'm happy I found this gem! More...
This gem of a theater has everything: good solid tasty corn, candy, a bar, and friendly, supportive staff that make the entire experience much better than the chains could ever hope to. The personal attention and concern for patrons is a significant part of the enjoyment of the movie theater experience. This truly is an RP classic, and I for one hope it keeps on chugging along like the well-oiled machine that it is, giving every patron the best theater-going experience they deserve. Bravo, New 400 Theater. Great show! More...

I discovered this gem while an undergrad student at Loyola. I recently re-discovered it after returning to RoPo after a 6 year hiatus exploring new neighborhoods! I loved the Davis in Lincoln Square for all the same reasons before they underwent a massive renovation. *You can't beat the prices -- $5 for a ticket? COME ON!!*Full Bar!*Great Staff*Greater Deals (drink specials every day, special events like BOGO tickets and free family movie days?)*Fun events like re-showing Best Picture Nominees before the Oscars! You aren't going to get oversize seats that recline and have microwaves, refrigerators, make your butt rumble so hard the person next to you can hear your teeth rattling in your head, and air conditioners built into them. However, you also aren't going to spend $50 to take the most expensive nap in recent history. TL;DR -- Is it perfect? NO! Is it amazing? YES!!! More...
This place has my heart. Whereas most movie theaters have a very franchised feel to them, this place just has an aura about it that feels like home. What it lacks in size and in newness it more than makes up for in heart. One of my favorite things to do in the Rogers Park/Edgewater area is come to movie premieres here! They always have fun themed drinks and, depending on the movie, trivia. The New 400 makes me feel so lucky to live in this area and has given me so many wonderful memories. More...

Love this place. Friendly staff. Have been coming here for years, no problems. Went to a screening of IT a couple of days ago with two separate groups of yakkers/idiots in the audience. Management handled it well with each. I'm baffled why some ignorant person feels compelled to loudly announce their opinion on every scene but suspect this person had some type of development disability. It could have been a cultural thing though. More...
Best Local Movie Theatre in town. Friendly Staff (asking me if I was a student didn't hurt). Treasure!!!
Good cheap theater. Very nice to have a movie theater around the corner from home.Theater - imagine just the front 9 rows of a regular theater (the not sloped kind) that's all you get. My screen had a stain on the side. Video and sound quality is good. Selection - depends but you only get 4 choices and sometimes that means nothing worth seeing. Food - haven't tried. Great bang for your buck. Tuesday's are $5 tickets and Wednesday's have a $4 student discount. Not the most glamorous of theaters, but for the prices, it's very well worth it. I love this place. It's truly of a hidden gem although it's not really hidden. The theaters have been remolded with new seats and screens so it's more comfy. The staff is always welcoming and kind. The concessions are your standard theater stuff but there's also alcohol sold. They always have up to date movies and there's also a 3D theater. It's a great movie theater. I lived in Rogers park for 6 years and I rather go here then to Evanston to see movies. The people are great and they just re did the inside so the seats are better. Will always go here
The New 400 Is Great :) Excellent staff! Great Concessions! I love when they do events like free Halloween movies for a week during Halloween, or free Star Wars Movies before the new one opens :) More events please :)
I am from the great state of New York where you have to jump through a million and one hoops to get a drink anywhere. You can not buy real booze at gas stations, Target, CVS or movie theaters. And if it's past 11 pm, good luck finding a liquor store that's open. So when I moved to Rogers Park and discovered an INDEPENDENT movie theater just a few blocks away that also has a bar INSIDE and I can drink a MARGARITA while enjoying a film that was just RECENTLY released -- you can bet your behind I called everyone I know and love in the Empire State and said sorry I'm never ever coming home. This theatre is great, the staff is super friendly, the drinks are great, the drink specials are also great and the theatre is clean and comfortable. My one wish is they would tone down the lighting in the theatre. The exit signs in the front and in the back are so bright you can see the faces of movies goers on the other side of the room very clearly. It's a little distracting and takes away from the ambiance. Take note: I would never ever let that stop me from coming back. More...

I loooove the New 400! So much so, that I moved across the street from it (that's not entirely the reason but it was a big time bonus!). They have a bar, reasonable concession prices & ticket prices, and no upcharge for 3D! Plus, they have a wonderfully friendly staff. More...
This is the best little theater! Such a gem to have in Rogers Park. So family friendly. Every single one of the staff are wonderful. So friendly, so helpful, always greeted with a warm smile. All new seats so it's comfortable and kept very clean! Can't say enough about this theater. More...
This is a great place to see a show. The screens and theaters are small, but it didn't bother me. The ticket price and concession prices are a huge bargain, they serve alcoholic drinks too, and everyone who works here is so nice! I will definitely be back.
This is exactly the type of Neighborhood Theater I love. My first visit was to see Dr. Strange with 2 good friends. I like the fact that they've kept that old historic charm with nice new seats and a stellar sound system. The full bar is nice as are the staff with the only downside is the men's room. It's like the urinals were designed for the Chicago Bulls. There's no way a person 5'5 or shorter could use them. One was actually out of order on our visit. There are also many good places to go eat. The prices are agreeable I intend to go back often. More...
First time visiting. Liked theatre and the prices!. Staff was really friendly & helpful. Although they do need work on bathrooms for proper disability access (Disabled Stall Door in Ladies Room should open OUTWARDS. It currently opens Inwards/Towards toilet and there's absolutely No Way for person using wheelchair to have Any Privacy while using the stall. It's a Peep Show for everyone who walks into the ladies room). Not sure about Men's Restroom or its Disabled Stall *I asked for the Manager, but the bearded-guy with glasses at food counter asked if he could help. I explained the Disabled Stall concern, hope he remembered to pass info to Manager. More...

Love this theatre and the prices!. Although they do need work on bathrooms for proper disability access.
This place is so cool! I've been a few times now, and I really love seeing movies here. The staff is really friendly, prices are really cheap, and you can get a beer or a drink to bring in with you! It's the perfect movie theater. They also do specials every night, so keep an eye on that! Great spot for a fun date :) More...
Love this place! Small and affordable and they always do a great job. Great for kids movies! Also a good date night spot- they have a bar full
Staff are always very nice here and prices are reasonable.
Nice to have a theatre so close to home and it plays new run films. Nice. And $6 matinee at 5pm is AWESOME.
Love this place, feels like my personal theater. Everybody is so friendly. Usually go on my day off by myself, best way to scape from reality, even if is just for couple hours.

I have been coming to the 400 movie theater for 20 years , they used to have The Rocky Horror Show on Saturdays , love this place
New 400 is my jam. I feel ridiculous coughing up $18 to go to larger theaters, and this place is so affordable. Even the concessions are fairly priced! Yes, the screens are small and the theaters are small, but I promise that you can see the screen. They have great promotions for concession rewards and fun planned nights for different movie premiers. More...
The people who work there always have a smile on . And they show new movies at half the price as the big theaters do .
Love this theater. It's a nice lil place in Roger's Park that doesn't feel like you're in Chicago.
Great theater, amazing prices! You can do the 3D movie for the same price as regular at matinee.
I like this place despite it being a little run down. It's way cheaper than other theatres and they also have loyalty cards and student discounts. Many people complain about uncomfortable seating and that the floor is always dirty, but I'd rather come here than pay $20 for a movie and snacks at an AMC theatre. I started going to this theatre because I went to Loyola and it was close by, but now that I have moved a few stops away I still come back here for movies! More...
The New 400 Theater is closer to me. It's cheaper than AMC theaters. I enjoyed how small-town it felt like. The only issues I had was the screen was a little smaller than the movie and the bathrooms were a bit messy. Overall I had a wonderful time and I will be back! More...
It was pretty nice I wish the 3D glasses were not so painful to wear.

Very nice people. Friendly good with kids. The theaters are not that big byt is okey. Saturday and sunday I'll pay 6 dollars insted 8 monday thrue friday. My son has alot of fun when we come hir to watch a movie More...
Roomy seating. Love that I could have a cocktail while watching the movie.
It's a great neighborhood theater. Kind and courteous staff! It's a nice to be able to support a local, small scale establishment like this in my area.
3 years later, I STILL love the New 400 Theaters. I went to see the Jungle Book this weekend with my husband and my friend, and tickets were $6 for 3D. That is amazing, like, less than half of what other theaters charge. I love supporting this local business. Yes, it sometimes gets gross during busy opening weekends, and yes, sometimes dumb people are loud during the movie, but that's pretty standard. The snacks and drinks are priced way lower than other theaters too. If you're looking for an inexpensive, solid movie-going experience, come here. If you're looking to complain about everything little thing (and not even willing to voice those concerns to management), go somewhere else. More...
Love love love!!! In this day in age when it cost an arm and a leg to go see a frickin movie this place is truly a gem. Small not fancy theater with super low price movies and a bar! Bonus! My go to spot evey time!

It's great that Rogers Park a movie theater.
Clean. Great customer service. Decent ticket prices. Love that they have special showings soon as new movie comes out which includes raffle and more for a real bargain price and beer for those that wish to purchase that
Great movie spot in Rogers Park. The actual screens and sound system are okay, but the drink deals are fantastic! Who doesn't love drinks with a movie? Plus, the staff are friendly and the place has a nice vibe to it as well. More...
Cheap tickets which is nice. Not the best facilities but I guess it keeps the prices low. Recommend if you don't want to venture far from the neighborhood or if you want to kill an afternoon. They've got a bar as well!
matinees at $6? yes please! great little theater with a friendly staff! it could use some cleaning inside but nothing beats the location and the price and that divey vibe, just love it!
We found this theatre two weeks moving into Chicago and it has become our favorite movie theatre here. They have $4 days for students on Wednesdays and they have special offers whenever possible. Comfortable environment, lots of movie fans flock the theatre for a chill theatre setting, and definitely better pricing than a Landmark or Regal theatre downtown. We go here whenever we can. More...
This was my first time at this place and I can't believe I haven't been here before! The staff was friendly and the popcorn was so fresh and better than anything you'd get at AMC or elsewhere. The theater itself was small but cozy and wasn't super crowded (for a Monday afternoon show). I think I'll definitely be returning here again! More...
This is an awesome little theater! I go here often and the service is always wonderful. There is a full bar, with specials and tickets are always cheap. The theaters are being remodeled and the new seats are really nice. They also do fun events from time to time. My husband and I went to their event for opening night of Star Wars and it was a lot of fun, with trivia, prizes, and themed cocktails. More...
Movie was great! Drinks a plus! Staff was sooo accommodating and friendly an uninterrupted movie sounds amazing to us!!!
We live within walking distance of The New 400. We first tried it out when we lived further away because of a Groupon deal (which is almost always available, FYI!). If you're looking for large reclining seats, IMAX, or curved screens, this isn't your movie theater. The New 400 is mostly famous for it's historic presence and acts as a local movie theater and does the job well. There are hardly any exceptionally large crowds, no reserved seating, fair prices on tickets and food, and a good selection at the bar. It's a no non-sense place to go see a movie and one of my favorite places in the city to go. The staff is also very friendly which is always a plus! More...

We love this local theatre! They have affordable tickets and beer! This is my favorite place to see movies. I am so glad you are in the neighborhood.
Held the 5th Annual Chicago Comedy Film Festival here November 2015 and will be back in 2016! Great weekend packed with great movies!
An excellent theater. Great people, great movies, and they work so hard to bring us a clean and enjoyable experience. I've always enjoyed every time I've been there.
A small neighborhood theater where we love to see the latest movies. It's not the cleanest but the staff is always friendly, the popcorn fresher than most places, and it has a small bar for the adults.... They show a good balance of movies so families can see the latest family friendly movie while the adults can watch the latest thrillers... They also have special viewings throughout the year. More...

Can't beat the price for new movies under $10 plus a full bar and you can take your drinks to your seats!!
I love it! the fascists at Yelp HQ want me to elaborate but I have nothing else to say beyond "I love it!"
Love this Community theatre!! Just moved to Edgewater recently, This will be my go to spot to see a movie.. Nothing like supporting a Neighborhood spot!!
Enjoyed theater, the movie was great. I love being able to pick up and go to the movie without to much effort.
Love this place!I remember coming here as a kid before it was the 400. They've always been affordable and, given I now practically live across the street, crazy convenient. I cannot wait to see the free Halloween movies they'll be running. Plusssss it has a bar with decent drinks and affordable concession snacks.9/10. More...
Not the cleanest or best theater. But for the prices, it is just perfect. $6 matinee movies. Also, usually has Groupons (but you can't use them the first week a movie is out). They also have student discounts. Pretty good bar and snacks. The seats are okay and the staff is friendly. More...
Be sure to come to the 5th Annual Chicago Comedy Film Fest now in Rogers Park. We're so happy to be part of the community and bringing international film up "north". Tickets here- eventbrite.com/o/chicago… More...
Nice local movie theater small and intimate, prices are great and perfect for a cheap date night. Staff are super friendly!
Sure this place is old, not the cleanest, and maybe even a little shady at times but I can't help but love it. Maybe it's because I have some very fond memories from my undergrad days at Loyola, coming to this theater with various friends. Their prices are cheaper than most other theaters, their concession stand is a steal and they have a full bar! People will talk during the movie, some may even record the movie (I've seen this happen here) but just embrace the whole experience and enjoy it. Honestly if you're looking for an AMC vibe, go to AMC. This place is great for broke college students or locals who just want to watch a movie and have a fun time doing it. If you take your movie going experience too seriously, you won't like it here. More...
Cheap seats kind of theater. They have an awesome Groupon dealI just saw the deal they have on checking in!!Can't beat that
Super great prices for students, which is great since I go to Loyola and live in the area. I love supporting local businesses, so it's awesome to be able to frequent 400 so often. They're usually very up to date, but I guess I'm very used to theaters with more than 4 screens. Options are pretty limited, and it usually is a week or 2 before any movie changes. Movie times rarely go past 9 or 9:30pm, so a late night movie is rarely an option.Overall, a clean and friendly atmosphere. I love being able to be in such a historic old movie palace because 400 still has that vibe.Snacks and bar are pretty well prices, and they run specials for deals on drinks, which I always make sure to keep updated on.I also really love their popcorn and movie special events, where fliers are posted around the Rogers Park area. More...
It's not the best or most comfortable sitting and it's pretty small but it is also very affordable, you can't go wrong with that. They got booze and they got popcorn. What else do you want? I think I have been here over 10 times in the last two years. More...
I like this theatre. It's close to my apartment, tickets are not over priced like chains and food and drinks are really well priced (especially the alcohol!) the only two downsides are they have 4 screens so if it's not a huge blockbuster it won't be showing and the seats are a little out dated and uncomfortable. But they are vintage and affordable so I don't mind it. More...
Very small theater and peaceful area! They even sell alcohol, oh my God! This is like the first and probably only theater that I have seen that sells alcohol. If you're in the Rogers Park & Edgewater area, and want to catch a movie, stop in! Neighborhood parking is decent despite the theater being located in Rogers Park. And CTA Loyola isn't too far away if you have no interest in driving. More...
my favorite neighborhood theater, cheap movies all the time, decently priced snacks and cocktails!! I love supporting this places and encourage others to do the same!!
I love this movie theater! It's more my style than your average AMC movie theater. Yes, the ground is sticky. Yes the seats are old but that doesn't take away from the friendliness of their staff and their drink specials! I always get their groupons, such a good deal! This is a gem to the rogers park neighbourhood. For me, I prefer to give my money to the smaller businessman so I will always come here for my movie fix. Popcorn and candy is reasonable as well. Parking sucks but that's okay. Another plus is they always show the best mainstream movies out at the time. Not the best choice if you're looking to see more independent films. Check it out you won't be disappointed as long as you're not looking for AMC quality! More...
It's small and neat. Not a place to go if you want huge screens and 100s of seats. Cheap and friendly staff.
I love this theater! It's smaller compared to your typical AMC theater auditorium; however, it'll meet all your needs. They usually only show 4 movies at a time on smaller screens than what you'd get at an AMC, but I'm totally okay with that. You don't pay the insane $10-$12 prices you would normally pay elsewhere, and prices for an evening film are $8.50 or $7.50 with a student ID. The films will usually be the more popular, money-making films, so don't expect an independent film here. If you check-in on Yelp, they give you a free medium drink or well drink. Candy and popcorn isn't insanely priced either. My 2 complaints are that hot dogs are never ready and they have to come find you in the theater to give you your hot dog and that the bathrooms can get a bit gross. Otherwise, the staff and management is always super friendly and accommodating, and I never have a bad experience when I go here! More...
What an adorable theater! It's a little run down, but the staff was friendly and the prices are pretty good (they have a groupon!). I'll definitely be back here.
My favorite place use to live next to it every Thursday its premier. ..
Went to watch Kingsman here on a Monday night. The interior looks a bit dingy and the rooms/screens are fairly small, but tickets are inexpensive and the staff is very friendly. The sound quality during the movie is great and the theater is dark enough that it's easy to forget how small it is when actually watching the movie. Overall this was a great experience and I'd definitely come here again. More...
This is a great little local theater that's a great option for those who are looking to see the latest movies but not wanting to pay a premium. The theater seems to only show 4 or so movies at a time and the auditoriums are quite small compared to your typical AMC or Regal, but the price is $8.50, or $7.50 with a student ID. As long as you don't come expecting a super cushy theater, you'll have a nice and cozy experience. With a Yelp Check-In, you even get a free drink - and that includes alcoholic beverages! More...
I like love this movie theater, it's great to have a place near by to see movies without the outrages movie and concession prices and you can get a cocktail type beverage if you want too boot, I'm a huge fan of The New 400!!
Clean theater staff are decent seats are comfortable enough for a movie small rooms decent bar good for the price!
Terry DarkAries Barfield
So far I like ..................................................
I used to bring my kids. It is and always has been nice!
Love being able to have a drink while watching a movie! Theaters are old, but prices are great and much more reasonable then big chain theaters.
Honestly the best theater in chicago. Cheap drinks, cheap tickets, and amazing atmosphere. What more could you want!
Can't wait to try it this weekend I'll keep you posted.
This is Rogers Park little treasure. The place is clean, people are decent and the people who works here are nice. They have a bar but the popcorn is so-so. Best movie theater around and super close to CTA. More...
The New 400 Theaters is a very nice local theater that recently went through renovations. I am new to this Theater and I am very impressed. I saw here Divergent and Lucy when they first came out. The seats are very comfy and the size of the theater is just right not to small and not to large. The best part is the bar located at the main lobby. You can get a beer, wine or a mixed drink and the prices are just right. I would recommend that you come early because the theater gets busy and there is sometimes a line outside. There are also few nice places to eat on Sheridan Road and there is Starbucks next door. Parking is on the main street or if you are lucky on side streets, but I recommend taking the red line or the bus which stops pretty much right in front. I am looking forward to going here again I am eyeing the Gone Girl, I hope they have it hear because I want to see it and I want to see it at the New 400. More...
This is great theater for a myriad of reasons: - Convenient location... walking distance to Red Line stop, Loyola- Inexpensive (savings so you can go see more movies!) - Bar has specials and snack counter is efficient- Small, cozy theatre - Associates are friendly - CUPHOLDERS in the back of the seats in FRONT of me, so as not to take up any of my elbow room!!!!!! Love that! =D Is it an older theater? Yes. But at the end of the day, I like to keep my wallet fat and catch a good flick in one fell swoop. New 400 allows me to get the best of both worlds. More...
The New 400 is one of the best theaters I've ever been to! The popcorn is so good it doesn't even need butter, there's not a lot of places that can pull that off. The nachos are amazing and they have a bar. A Bar!!!!! You can't beat that! Especially with their daily specials! Yup, it's definitely the theatre to go to in Chicago!!! More...
I make sure to stop in whenever I'm in the area. Clear picture, comfy seats, popcorny popcorn. Everything you need for a good movie.
Such a great little theater!! Love the service and the bar was icing on the cake!! 5 stars!!!!
Great deals each day for alcoholic beverages that you can drink inside while watching a movie. Something you cannot do at most movie theaters here in the U.S.Cheaper matinee prices, and even regular showings are cheaper compared to places like AMC. A little run down, but they keep the place clean, and friendly service too.I recommend this place only if your closeby, for all your movie watching. More...
Great neighborhood movie theater a short walk from the red line. Management rocks and the prices are great. $6 matinee for first run 3d films and $3 for a popcorn? What a steal! Add a bar and that's just cherries on top. There's even a discount for students and they are involved with community events (had an ad for a 48 hours film festival). For those complaining about the decor etc, I think it's one of the charms of the location. It's an old building with lots of character. There's plenty of other modern theaters to choose from. Come here if you want an affordable day and a friendly staff! More...
Still a decent theater...however, just like anyplace else, the prices have gone up a little. Matinee prices are $6.00 and regular ticket prices are $8.50. Concession food snacks are also slightly higher. More...
We moved into this neighborhood over a year ago and even though this place is only two blocks from our home, we never got around to checking it out until last Tuesday evening. Umm...this place rocks. The tickets are reasonable, the place is clean, the screen was great, and their popcorn is better than the ginormous, chain theaters. Only downsides (that naturally come with an older theater) are that the seats are a little smaller than what the average person of today is used to, and the bathroom was pretty teeny. But really, that's a non-issue. This theater is awesome. More...
This place is great! its close to home and they sell liquor. the prices are better than other movie theaters, staff has always been very friendly. food prices are good to, there specials are worth the price. More...
Clean, affordable, accessible, no straining to see the screen. And they have Belly, senior rates and student rates.

I love the place !!! ♥
oh my this place is soo awesome. i ran across it because of groupon. I wish I bought a lot of them. Only bought two. My daughter of I had a great time. 2 popcorns, 2 drinks (the grown up kind for me) with movie tickets for 18 bucks! staff were friendly. Parking was a bit of a pain but not impossible. Just plan to hunt. Would definitely come again. More...

Great for date nite with hubby!
Cheap first-run movies. They serve adult beverages. Awesome neighborhood theatre. Being going here for years.
Good little cozy old fashion theater! !!
best movie place for the price
This movie theater is awesome!!! They give free access to military to watch movies anytime!! I also think it's only like 7 dollars for students. They keep all there movies updated. This is also one of the only movie theaters I know that you are able to take alcohol with you Into the movie. The only down side to this place is the actual movie watching area is kinda bad with concrete floors. More...
This place is great! The drink specials are pretty awesome. They offer free refills on large popcorn and the staff was super friendly! Service and the prices were great! It was my first time here and I really enjoyed it! Also if you check-in through Yelp you get a free drink. Saw 22 Jumpstreet which was pretty hilarious! It is a small theater but I really liked it. There are no long lines to buy your tickets or to get your drinks. The atmosphere was great! Definitely recommend this place! More...
It's old and worn, but the sound is good, they do have 3D, and last time I went there eas a special, $5 for two glasses of wine. So that was awesome.
this place rocks what else can you say.1.bring your own booze into the theatre 2 did you run out don't worry awesome drink specials. Sound is intense and picture is perfect love this little spot. More...
Pretty affordable. Parking is difficult but not impossible. If you have a big butt though (I do!), the seats are not comfortable and are difficult to get in and out of.

Great small theatre on the north side that serve alcoholic beverages and no chaos
I love this theater. It's small, fun, nice. It's like the movie theaters from when I was a kid before everything got so crazy huge. The concessions are normally priced, which is so sweet. It's clean, and everyone who works there is so nice. I always have a good time with the audience as well - it feels like a neighborhood thing instead of some terrible corporate conglomerate. Apparently it's the same owners as the Harper, in Hyde Park, which I'm about the review - seriously the best theater. More...
This place is wonderfully imperfect. Small, loud, with a full open bar and a convenient walking distance along the beach. I honestly don't know what else you could hope for in a neighborhood theater. Tiny selection, not many showtimes, and casually endearing. This is the only type of move theater I could be comfortable going alone to, or having an affordable double gin and tonic on a Saturday afternoon to help fill up some time. More...
Extremely friendly staff, always quick to recommend which movie to see if in doubt. They have really great movies at a very affordable price. My husband and I love going there for fun and inexpensive dates. One of the best things about this place is that they serve liquor/beer. Who doesn't enjoy a good drink while seeing a good movie? I highly recommend going there! More...
I LOVE this place! Such a pleasure to walk into a movie theater and not have to deal with mobs of people and huge lines. We were greeted by the manager, Christian, and shown to tickets, and their bar, (how awesome is that?), and told about weekly specials as we waited for beers and popcorn at reasonable prices. The staff was very friendly and set us up for a great experience before we sat down for our movie. Nice not to be in a "Mega theater" it felt homey and pleasant. As we left, Christian thanked us for coming and we heard "love you guys!" from the bartender as we left. I thought to myself as we jumped in a cab to leave, this is our home theater. I've told many about our little home, and look forward to our next trip! More...
The staff here is incredibly nice and it's a very small, relaxed theater. If you're looking for a fancy place, this is definitely not for you. It is older and a bit run down, but the people are incredibly friendly, the prices are great, and it's intimate.I hope they keep renovating - there were some issues: the bathroom was a bit dirty, some chairs had rips, etc. If they do some maintenance and update it to have a more "old timey/historic" feel (since it is an old theater), it would be an absolute gem! More...
Had a great time!
I like the price and I like the location. However, I think they could be a bit more adventurous in the films they choose to screen
I love this place $5 movie if you have a school id.
Always a good time

I love this theatre!! Staff is wonderful and super nice. This is my new movie to go to spot :-) Keep up the great experiences movie guys and gals :-)
LOVE THIS PLACE....
This place is going through slow renovation. Looking good so far. Also, they got captioning devices for deaf movie goers. Sweet. Their staff is awesome too.
I love this theatre! It's cute, not too crowded and they serve drinks! I always have a fun evening when I come here. Friendly, helpful staff as well!
It is small and tight, but I love this theater. The staff is ridiculously helpful and friendly. Good drinks and location.
I love this place. Cheap tickets ad a full bar, there's no real reason not to. Everyone here is always very nice, the drinks are good, and they usually have great specials going. And like $6.50 for a student ticket for a first run show is basically unheard of in the city. The theaters are small, no stadium seating, but for what it is it's perfect. I did have one bad experience here, hence the four stars, where during the new Star Trek the movie turned off, and they turned it back on about 20 minutes past where we had been, ruining a crucial reveal in the movie. They were apologetic and gave us a free pass for another movie, so they handled it perfectly, I just wish it hadn't happened at all. More...
I love this neighborhood theater. The prices are affordable and sometimes you can even get a groupon deal. Having a full bar is definitively a plus.

im def coming back!
love this theater!!!Great prices, current movies, and reasonably priced concessions.
Cheap Movies and Great Staff... Great asset to Rogers Park!!!
Love this place.Friendly staff. Did I mention the Yelp app free drink promo they've been running for 6 months? AND free refills on large popcorn? No, they don't have the stadium seating and the carpets are a tad worn, but this is fun for the whole family at bargin basement prices. More...
I love this theater.First rum movies, a full bar, drink specials, 3-D (!), great staff and a fun vibe makes this my movie theater of choice. To top it all of, there is not a single ticket over ten bucks in the place. Yep, even for 3-D. For the matinee, tickets are $6.00. For everyone! It's completely possible to do a pair of tickets and popcorn for two for less than twenty bucks, and almost half the price of the larger theaters in the area. More...
Not a lot to review but I was very happy to find this $8 theater in my area. This theater is very small but does offer at the hall which I was not used to. I was also happy to see that this was the one theater and the area that supported a black film! Definitely four stars! More...
Love this theatre. $6 matinees, full bar, friendly staff. It's pretty great. You're definitely getting what you pay for though; don't expect stadium seating or anything flashy. But still, it's way better than going downtown and spending $15 per ticket.
