We were so excited to be able to participate in the 2016 Snow Sessions again this year. Melissa was so patient as we wrangled our child and two dogs. The images are spectacular with a unique backdrop and beautiful light. We are so grateful to have these images of our entire family. Kristen and Melissa at Tangled Lilac are top notch. We had a destination wedding at Poco Diablo Resort in Sedona, Arizona in April 2013 and were looking for a photographer who could capture not only the day, but also the beauty of our surroundings. My wife and I agreed that there were 2 things we would not skimp on for our wedding - Rings and Pictures. Both will stay with us forever. While interviewing for photographers, we lined up 4 with Kristen and Melissa being the last. Mainly because once we met, we were done, we hit it off with them immediately and their portfolio had exactly what we were looking for. We knew we had our photographers. These girls were organized, professional and a pleasure to work with leading up to and including our wedding day. They not only took amazing photos of us, they were fun to be around. Additional benefits were, we had 2 photographers to cover bride and groom getting ready and to get the photos and plenty of candids. During the ceremony and reception, you hardly knew they were there. After it was all over, we had our photos and a slide show they put together for us before we returned from our honeymoon. We loved Tangled Lilac Photography who did our engagement and wedding photography. Melissa felt like a friend, and my husband and I were very comfortable in front of the camera. Melissa and her associate photographer were almost invisible the day of our wedding. They got wonderful shots that captured all emotions of the day, and that is one thing about Tangled Lilac Photography, their photographs emit emotion. “Melissa Dunstan is one of our near and dear friends and despite our desire to have her photograph our wedding personally we wanted her to be a part of our special day as a bridesmaid instead. Fortunately for us, her partner, Kristen Carnes, was available to shoot our wedding, and did a phenomenal job! Aside from their friendship, Melissa and Kristen Carnes (both of Melissa Dunstan Photography) have an amazing knack for capturing candid and special moments at weddings; those moments that are genuine, show the love between two people, their families and friends. Kristen made us feel at ease during our portraits and had a way of being almost invisible throughout the ceremony and reception. Not having a disruptive or “in your face” photographer on our wedding day allowed us to remember the moments, the laughs and the friends and family. There are too many good things to say about Tangled Lilac Photography to put into this space. Melissa has been my photographer of choice since the day she got a camera. Her ability to make me look good in photographs (not an easy job) and to effortlessly help me to be at my best is a fine art of which she is a master practitioner. She is also unbelievably good at demonstrating how much her camera loves brides and grooms and babies and pets and moms and dads. Beyond that (yes, there's more) I am proud to own a substantial private collection of her photos of old buildings, old trees and even one old bicycle. Melissa and Kristen were recommended to us by a few different friends before I contacted them about doing a family session for us. They were accommodating from the beginning. We had them four-wheeling and hiking out to one of our favorite spots in no time, and there was no hesitation on either of their happy faces. Kristen took our maternity photos and did an awesome job! She flew all the way out to CA to take our pictures. We are not the creative type, but Kristen was excellent at directing us how and where to pose. The pictures turned out better than we could have imagined...even at 8 months pregnant!
