Founded by director Tom Sands in 2009, Substantial Films is a production company that employs strong narratives and powerful storytelling to deliver films with substance. At its heart is a father/son team – Mick Sands is an award-winning scriptwriter and copywriter with 30 years experience, Tom Sands is an up-and-coming producer/director.

Substantial Films brings a unique and cinematic approach to commercial work. Recently, we have produced music videos for emerging artists like Alex Holmes, branded content for Wembley Park and a TV commercial for Liquiproof (voted one of the top 10 Most Innovative Businesses in the O2 Smarta 100 Awards).
