I'm so grateful to you, Gareth. Thank-you very much for such a great 12-week Shape-Up Challenge I was delighted to have won. But, mainly I was chuffed because this was the first summer in many many years that I’d felt happy enough to wear shorts and a T-shirt (let alone consider let a shot of my middle be posted on FB!). Thanks to the boost your programme gave me, I’m now more mindful of the food I eat and how it’s nourishing my body; I have increased - and am really enjoying strength training; I have rediscovered my passion for swimming; have rebooted my regular runs and am almost halfway through the couch-10k programme (ran for 20mins straight today!); I have dusted off my bike and am cycling whenever possible; I am walking a minimum of 10,000 steps a day - often doubling that; and, am on the brink of signing up for my first Sprint triathlon ***STOP PRESS UPDATE SEPT 2019...I HAVE NOW DONE MY FIRST TRIATHLON, IN A TIME BEYOND ALL MY HOPES AND EXPECTATIONS :-)*** I wanted to show my kids how they can only achieve their goals if they put the effort in, and I am so pleased to now be modelling this with the regular exercise I'm doing. I had an injury and needed to strengthen my muscles back up, a family member suggested PT and i rememeber thinking “only celebs have trainers” - oh how i was wrong. Nearly 3 years later im 2 stone lighter, stonger and fitter then ever. Stu is the best and is always encouraging! I always look forward to our sessions! The workouts are programmed around you and what goals you have, i cant sing these guys prasies enough!! The team at Studio Twenty 3 have been fantastic in helping to improve and support my fitness journey. They are very knowledgeable and really push you to work hard but in a friendly and fun way! I was anxious about doing 'weights' and whether I'd be able to lift weights etc. But they really empower you and make you surprised at what you can achieve! Studio Twenty 3 is a great place to get fit, push your limits and learn about nutrition and health whilst doing it. I look forward to going to small group training each week and feel stronger, fitter and with better posture than I think I have ever been. It's now a year later. I'm focussing on running and our group training sessions have been helping me to gain flexibility, strength and aerobic fitness to support that. The sessions, together with the great positive support from the training team mean I'm gaining PBs in my races and increasing in self-confidence as to what I can achieve. More...

I've been training at Studio Twenty 3 with Gareth and the team for almost a year now and the changes I've seen have been unbelievable! I've lost 24kg (nearly 4 stone) and dropped 3 dress sizes but more importantly I feel so much stronger, fitter and with more energy. I started with just personal training sessions and have increased this to include 2 x small group training sessions a week too as I can't get enough of these great HIIT classes. Each session is tailored around any existing injuries, or personal goals (weight loss, or strength etc) Throughout this past year we've adjusted and changed my goals - I had a back injury so we've been working around that and rebuilding my strength, specific focus on my running (which has helped me knock 4 minutes off my parkrun PB!); as well as the weight loss. It's not just about the exercise - I pick up tips and recipes from Studio Twenty 3 which have helped with my nutrition; and the motivation I get from them is fantastic. Gareth and the team are all super friendly and know just when to push you to get that extra effort out of your workout. I would highly recommend and already can't wait for my next class! More...

I've been going to Studio 23 for nearly 10 months and have never felt fitter and stronger. There's no point doing exercises badly and there's no point joining a gym and never going. With Studio 23, you are closely watched to make sure your technique is perfect and you are given the motivation to keep coming back. I was pretty skeptical about personal training (mostly because of the expense) but I have to say training with Gareth at Studio 23 has been worth every penny. The weekly motivation of knowing i'm going to be weighed keeps me on track with my diet and the intense hour work-out is re-shaping my body. Somehow Gareth knows exactly how much to push me - how many rep's, how much weight on the dumbbell - to take me to my maximum capacity and unlike a group class there's no hiding or faking!It's a really nice environment to train in - cool, clean, good equipment and whilst the music is sometimes questionable, sometimes it's alright too!I've also started using myfitnesspal on Gareth's recommendation, bought a fit bit and am doing 3 big hits of exercise a week. So far i've lost half a stone in three months, but hey, slow and steady wins the race apparently! More...

Been attending since November 2017 - absolutely love it. Go twice a week, am fitter, stronger and so much healthier. Stu has been my trainer from the start and I love his no nonsense style - he just turns the music up when I start moaning! ! Attended a nutrition and lifestyle workshop in April too and just by making small changes to our diet my hubby has lost nearly a stone. Great team! Thanks guys More...

Once upon a time there was a fit, active, sporty young person then along came a stressful job with long hours, a small person and a busy life and before she knew it nearly 20 years had passed and she was overweight and unfit. Then Studio Twenty 3 came into her life; a small, friendly gym and an excellent trainer (that's you Stu Mac) in Small Group Training alongside a beginners running course run by the gym started her on the journey to reverse the decline. Yes, it requires you to put the effort in but Studio Twenty 3 will be with you all the way...encouraging, motivating and pushing you....and admirably ignoring all the whingeing but that's fair since she ignores Gareth when he becomes the alcohol police ;-) And they all lived happier, healthier and fitter lives ever after...…. If you want motivation and straight talking honest fitness advice, then Gareth's your man. PT makes your hour of excersize really count and what you learn at the studio, you also carry over into your every day life. That's the huge added bonus. Motivation - even when you aren't there ! If you want to loose a jean size, shake up your fitness regime, train more effectively .. check out this PT team. Joe Wicks DVDs in your lounge are great but Joe doesn't push you to do that extra 10 push ups or make you evaluate if you really need that extra glass of wine every night. Personal training is just that , personal to you and your goals. You only get out what you put in, so it's not easy but it's fun ( mostly ) and G Is there to encourage you when you are flagging. Great atmosphere with friendly trainers and clients. I love the buzz when I go in for my sessions and I am really enjoying doing a 1 to 1 session and a group session every week. I started training here nearly a year ago for a couple of reasons, to get Tough Mudder ready and mostly to improve my overall body condition. I am a female over 40 and started to feel unbalanced and just felt my strength was starting to deteriorate. However since training that has all changed , my core muscles have improved massively along with my whole body condition in a way I love. I now have muscle definition in places that I never thought possible, feel fitter, stronger and have so much more energy. The main thing that works for me is having the one-on-one sessions with Stu, my personal trainer for the hour, I combine weights and cardio, he gives me that push (which I need) to complete all circuits something I know I wouldn't do in a gym , and it's reassuring to know that I am lifting heavy weights correctly. My 1:1 personal training sessions with Gareth give me an escape from a stressful job and busy lifestyle (the latter being self-inflicted of course! ) Our sessions are intensive, enjoyable, exhausting and humorous, and help to clear my head of the outside world whilst improving my health and wellbeing. But my programme does not stop when I walk out the door ... far from it! Gareth gives me a daily workout I can do at home plus reminds me of the importance of a well-balanced diet, so much so that last week he gave me a copy of "Clean Eating Alice" full of nutritious, healthy recipes. Having been going to Studio Twenty 3 for nearly 4 months I thought it was about time I wrote a review!I had always been a bit wary of 1-to-1 personal training, thinking you had to be fit already, or training at a high level for a specific sport. But I was proved wrong after finally coming down to the Studio for a trial session. Straight away Gareth was very welcoming and introduced me to my PT, Ryan. On my first session with Ryan he sat with me and discussed my goals, previous experience and any injuries. From the first session, it was all tailored to exactly what I wanted to achieve. I trained with Ryan for 3 months, twice a week. Thanks to his support and experience I saw progress which really surprised me! The sessions were challenging without being ridiculous! Ryan pushed me and motivated me to go harder and stronger than I thought I could, his support was not 'shouting and screaming', it was positive, and I genuinely think he wanted me to well just as much as I did! After 3 months, Ryan moved on to take a teaching job and I started training with Ellie. Straight away she took over where Ryan had left off, and I have continued to see improvements. She has a very relaxed style and continues to push me with encouragement and varied sessions that keeps me highly motivated. I really look forward to my 2 sessions a week, and genuinely enjoy spending time with everyone in the gym, it's always a relaxed atmosphere with everyone encouraging each other along. I'm not a typical gym goer, and alwasy felt self conscious in a public gym. Gareth has created a gym where I am 100% comfortable being there and has an amazing group of PT's that all want you to succeed. My only regret is not starting sooner!! More...

I love training at Studio Twenty3 I initially started training to lose some weight for my daughters wedding, which I achieved with the help of my one-to-one personal trainer. 25 months on & still going strong! I now do 2 SGT sessions a week sometimes 3.As the saying goes ..Rome wasn't built in a day!My hard work is paying off I am 100% stronger now than when I started, I have muscle definition in places I didn't even know there was muscle.and most of all I enjoy it! You don't have to be sporty to get fit!You just need a few good trainers to show you how.The trainers at Studio Twenty3 are amazing, they will help and guide you through all aspects of your training , Nothing is too much trouble.No plans on giving this up any time soon. I can't recommend Studio Twenty 3 highly enough. The studio itself has all the equipment you could ever need and the trainers are highly motivational, friendly and knowledgeable. This is a great training studio (well equipped and clean) with a personal atmosphere where clients and trainers have good banter and people of all shapes, sizes, ages and abilities are supported to achieve their goals. I have trained here for nearly two years and in this time have worked out next to people in their golden years, youngsters still in education and everyone in between - with all levels of fitness. I had a reasonable level of fitness when I joined (I was a runner) but I have learned SO MUCH more about how to condition my body and develop my strength since working with the team. Now I can lift heavy weights (and am not intimidated by them), can do chin ups, handstands, and swing from the monkey bars :-). My Osteopath has even noted more than once how much better my lower back , knee and neck are these days and I put it down to the training. All injuries have gone away and I didn't stop training when I had them, Gareth just worked out what I needed to do and adapted my plan.Learning more about nutrition and the impact of what I eat on those pesky few pounds and last few cms I wanted to lose has also been a bonus. The trainers are great role models, they know what they're talking about and advice is gently offered (for us to take or, leave). I took it and have seen the cms melt off. I have been a reluctant athlete most of my adult life and never made the time to exercise against the demands of work and family life. I also suffer from bad joints and chronic apathy for all things fitness related. I have however come to quietly enjoy my sessions with Stu and the team at Studio Twenty3. I drag myself there when their diary alert tells me to head to Chandlers Ford but after a solid 60 minute workout I am always pleased that I made the effort and pleased with the improvement I have seen in my strength and flexibility in each session and since I began the programme. There's always great humour bouncing off the walls much of it directed at my truculent participation.As a reluctant athlete you wouldn't get a recommendation from me if Studio Twenty3 weren't delivering and making a difference to my wellbeing. If it works for me it will work for anyone!I am a big middle aged guy who really doesn't look like the 'gym type' which is why I was asked today "Why do you train? " My answer was that whilst enjoy the finer things in life I need to balance that with looking after my health. 18 months ago I was on medication for high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I am now now, thanks to the team at Studio Twenty3 medication free. I am also stronger and more flexible and proud of my achievements and the progress I make every week.This is not your average gym (which is just as well as I am not your average gym go-er) I have trained along side all shapes and sizes and even though I am overweight (less so than when I started), I have never been made to feel uncomfortable or unwelcome. There is a great camaraderie between trainers and customers and you get a genuine feeling of warmth and a desire to help you achieve your goals from the team.If you think the gym is not for you but you want to be healthier, stronger and more flexible with encouragement from people who care and don't patronise you but celebrate your progress with genuine pride then look no further. There are no crowds of Lycra clad gym bunnies looking down at you or sniggering if you don't look the part , you really only ever train along side 1 or 2 people and you soon start to think of them as friends.So why do I train?
