If you are looking for a home to practice ground arts, practice here! There is a jujitsu class dedicated specifically to women. The people that train here are very friendly and encouraging. The instruction is informative and paced to fit every need. You just have to come and try it out for yourself. Walk in the door and you will be welcomed. The jujitsu classes will help you sleep better, gain strength and you will be reminded of muscles you never thought you had. You will work hard in the process but after class ask yourself why you waited so long to have this much fun! If you are a woman this will help you learn self defense skills and develop strength. I visited Steel City Martial Arts while visiting the area on business from Atlanta. The staff and training partners were incredibly warm and friendly. The facility was clean and well kept. They even let me teach one of my favorite techniques. I would absolutely recommend Steel City MA to anyone in the area or stopping through from out of town! More...

Gabbi and I love being part of the Steel City family! The real-world techniques in the Tai Jitsu Karate program and intense BJJ training are consistently recognized as the best in the region. The dojo is clean and well equipped. Sensei, Miss Lisa and all the instructors take pride in the dojo and go to great lengths to help their students be successful. It's a great workout and a lot of fun! More...

This gym offers everything you'd want and need from a martial arts gym. SCMA has top notch instructors and an equally wonderful atmosphere.
The BJJ program contributes some of the best grapplers in the area and the curriculum is never dull. Sensei Sonny Achille is a joy in my life--and a father figure to many. His love of martial arts is only equal to the love he has for his students.
The facilities are always clean and you never have to worry about snow when winter weather hits as the parking lot is always taken care of. Pricing is fair. But the level of education you receive as a student is priceless. Your experience at SCMA will be life shaping & you won't regret it.

SCMA is truly a great martial arts academy. Sensei Achille is an excellent instructor and a wonderful person. His entire team of instructors also do an amazing job. The higher ranked students are very helpful and all of the students are friendly and a lot fun to train with. The facilities are clean and maintained very well. I've been training in the Brazilian Jiu-jitsu program for about a month and would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn self defense or looking for a great workout. I've already shed some pounds. They're an affiliate of Master Pedro Sauer who is a legend in the Jiu-jitsu world. The students that compete in tournaments do very well which says a lot about the quality of a school. If you're interested in learning martial arts in the Pittsburgh area this is the place you want to train at. More...

Great school. Great atmosphere. Great instructors. The camaraderie built between everyone gives a family-like feeling. Everybody is there to help each other get better. The instructors remember your face and call you by your name. When you first join, they keep a close watch on you for a few weeks and pair you up with someone more experienced so you're not overwhelmed. You don't walk in the door and have a bunch of people wanting to "beat up on the new guy". In fact, you'll have people coming up to you and wanting to show you things to get you started. It's a way of paying it forward for when someone did it for them when they were the new guy. I have Nick to thank for doing it for me when I joined. He made it very easy for me to keep walking in the door. More...

I would like to begin this review by stating that there is no bigger cheer leader for this establishment that I. I’m a member of the sub-affiliate of the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program at Wright’s gym, therefore;
I’m able to train at Steel City Martial Arts, (SCMA) with some of the most outstanding people that I’ve had the pleasure to meet.
Steel City Martial Arts, offers members tons of mat space and a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program that is second to none. The staff IMMEDIATELY welcomed me and made me part of the team! The training environment is constantly monitored and extreme care is taken to ensure that we train safe, (with a reduced risk of injury). Between the instructors there are well over 100 years of training that you can take advantage of. The only way I would leave the nest of SCMA and the sub-affiliate Wright’s Gym is if could no longer train.
Check them out. Let the facility sell itself. You won’t be disappointed!

Steel City Martial Arts is one of the best martial arts and bjj places I've ever trained at. For my short time there, all the instructors and students were incredibly welcoming, caring, and the entire environment is perfect for learning and development. Sensei, Don, and Santino were always there to help correct a technique or go through it slower, and it honestly makes such a difference to have caring individuals that want to see their students grow and progress in the art of BJJ! I've been to other gyms that just force grappling and don't focus on technique or have some sort of intimidation factor, but not Steel City. Everyone here showed me respect and welcomed me in to their friendly community. The first day I stepped on the mat and was greeted by random students and teachers, I knew this was the place for me. Unfortunately, I had to leave due to a location change but I plan on keeping in touch with this great gym and the instructors! Additionally the place is incredibly clean and well kept up, highly recommend! More...

Don’t think you are too old to start. There are a few of us that started in our 50’s and are still going strong. BJJ is great for any age. You can challenge yourself and train for competition or just attend class to learn, have fun, and get a great workout. Steel City has really great instructors and has a very open and friendly atmosphere. If you are at all interested, then come on in and try a class. The hardest part of trying anything new is taking that first step. More...

Steel City Martial Arts has been nothing but a positive experience for my 5yr old son. The instructors are very good at what they do and are very hands on. If you are looking for a karate school that just advances you threw the ranks because you pay every month this is not the school for you. You have to earn your belt at Steel City. My son has been taking karate since he was three years old, but has learned so much more since he switched karate schools 6 months ago. If you want top notch instruction then go to Steel City and learn from the best. More...
