Fantastic! I began learning Spanish this summer with Óscar and it was the best thing I have done this year. One to one tutoring is working well for me and Óscar is a great teacher, very friendly but professional and he creates a relaxing setting to allow me to confidently learn Spanish. The progress I have made has been excellent and Óscar provides advice to help focus my home learning too. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to improve their spanish or start from scratch, and it really is great value for money. More...

I highly recommend Spanish Exeter. Oscar is an excellent tutor, both professional and friendly, providing the right level of guidance but also the freedom to learn at your own pace. The classes are easy going, fun and relaxed. The learning is kept interesting and relevant. The group size is perfect, as it was just the 4 students we soon became confident to try out our new language skills without fear of embarrassment if we get it wrong. Oscar is a fantastic Spanish tutor! Very warm, friendly, understanding & extremely accommodating to others needs & different learning styles. I can't recommend Spanish Exeter enough. I've tried to learn languages before, but the lessons have made what seemed to be an insurmountable and previously overwhelming task seem possible. Everything is broken down into small chunks. Games and activities keep it fun and interesting. Small class sizes means that you can progress quickly & really get to know your class mates well (we have already talked about a trip to Spain!). The focus is placed on listening and speaking that really helps your confidence improve more quickly. Oscar is a fantastic Spanish tutor and has turned learning Spanish into a really enjoyable process.For two years prior to having lessons with Oscar, I struggled to discipline myself to properly learn the language, often turning to Spanish dictionaries and language apps to get by when communicating with my Spanish partners family, often feeling overwhelmed with how much there is to learn! !Since taking a term of lessons with Oscar, I’m already noticing a change in my ability to communicate in real life situations, with improved confidence, vocabulary, pronounciation and general understanding of the Spanish language and culture.Oscars lessons are practical, manageable and are delivered in a way that are useful in day to day life! A great Spanish language learning experience! I started learning Spanish with Oscar through my company who were providing the lessons with the idea to help communications with our office in Madrid. Immediately I liked the relaxed style of the lessons. There is structure to the learning but Oscar has always been happy to explore areas of interest and take the time to answer any questions we had.It's also made interesting by the use of games and activities that kept my interest and avoid too much of the usual artificial role play which can become tedious.I would throughly recommend anyone wanting to learn spanish to contact spanish exeter. I finally found a language school that I'm 100% satsatisfied with. I can only repeat what others before me have said in their reviews - Oscar's approach to learning is to actually encourage you to speak, rather than focusing on textbooks and homework. He puts practice before theory which I like a lot because I feel like what I've learnt will stay with me and I'll use my limited Spanish in the future with more confidence. As someone who doesn't have much spare time to put into learning by myself, I feel like I am making progress even without practising much on my own. Aside of all that, Oscar is a wonderfully kind and understanding person who will make sure to accommodate your needs and will always help you out if you're stuck on something. Oscar gets you talking straight away with plenty of extra material to use at home to boost your knowledge and confidence. He is patient with blank looks ! Lessons are varied and fun including games and a tea break should "Tienes sed o hambre". Oscar is an excellent Spanish tutor, first finding out what your objectives are, and then tailoring lessons to meet these goals. His creative teaching style ensures the classes are fun, informative, and focussed, with plenty of Spanish speaking! Oscar has a genuine understanding of how to teach language effectively, which he has developed through his own experiences of learning English, and then applying this in every-day life, which makes the learning both practical and very useful. Oscar has a far more logical approach to language teaching than I have experienced in the past. He teaches Spanish as a child would learn, by listening and practising speaking before breaking down the phraseology and grammatical structure, which I find is a far more practical and successful process. I have thoroughly enjoyed my first term learning Spanish with Oscar. I have learnt so much in 10 weeks!! His method of teaching makes learning fun but, I know I have a good knowledge of the basics without having to endlessly learn tables of verbs from a book. Oscar is a fantastic teacher. His own experience of learning English has allowed him to truly understand what learning a language is really like. He will cater the lesson exactly to you which means you really get the most out of it if you engage properly. He is supportive and very enthusiastic but at the same time doesn't give you the easy way out which keeps you really focused, you will actually have to speak spanish, its not just looking at words. If you want to speak fluently fast, this is your man. If you want to obsess over grammar and the particulars, he'll also be happy to help. Highly recommend! More...

Oscar is an excellent teacher! He taught our daughter Spanish over an 8 month period, which entailed 1 hour Skype lesson per week.
As a result of Oscar’s superb teaching skills, our daughter recently achieved a grade 9 in her GCSE Spanish exams; which is the highest possible level of attainment in GCSE 9-1 examinations. She obtained 57/60 for the speaking component of this exam and also obtained excellent grades for the other components of writing, listening and reading.
I can unreservedly recommend Oscar as a Spanish teacher, as his teaching skills are exceptional!!

Oscar is a superb teacher. His lessons are fun, creative and definitely relevant to how you might use the language in reality. He designs his lessons to enhance your skills in speaking and listening in particular. He doesn't give long-drawn-out explanations, but presents grammar in context which means you can focus on enjoying learning the lively language.
