Recently ranked Best Gym on Staten Island and there is no doubt as to why. Nicole has a dedicated practice and budding business. She has tailored the studio schedule to include classes and styles for all different levels and schedules. A hot yoga studio with 45, 60, and 90 minute options; traditional and core work; pilates -- this studio has it all. Most important to me while visiting a hot yoga studio is hygiene. Some Like it Hot Yoga & Wellness is BY FAR the CLEANEST studio around. There are no foul odors and no stains on the floor or mirrors. The room is maintained at a high level and feels brand new every time I take class. If you are thinking about taking a class at this studio, you have nothing to fear and everything to gain. I'm blown away by the recent negative reviews. Since my last review SLIH has continuously improved. Nicole works constantly by adding different classes and training teachers who like her, have a passion for practicing and teaching others. Yes, it's hot but you know that going in...there are rules and a discipline that adds to the experience. Nicole specifically explains the practice and how to prepare yourself for your first class on her website. We don't barracade students in the room, you are encouraged to just sit and calm your breathing. So many people (including me when I started) panic and assume they can't stay in the room. However, once you calm your breathing (which is the reason for the so called panic attacks) you will realize that you can take the heat. As a teacher, I've encouraged many new students who after class actually thank me and come back the next day. Lastly, I don't think it is fair to give a bad review because YOU obviously weren't prepared and had a bad experience. Read the information on the webdite, hydrate before class and come with an open mind. The discipline is part of the practice. AMAZING STUDIO WITH PROFESSIONAL TEACHERS AND STAFF!!!I first tried hot yoga summer 2018 on a vacation to California. I came back to Staten Island and starting searching hot yoga studios in SI. I came across some like it hot yoga & wellness. I knew friends who had taken yoga classes here and recommended I purchase the groupon (2 months). My first class was with Winnie and it was tough, my friend that came with me could not handle it. However, I knew that the sweat was normal and the hot room only seemed so hot because I was not used to it. When I left my first class I remember feeling refreshed and relaxed and I couldn't wait to go back. It is now almost 5 months in and its safe to say that I am addicted to hot yoga! The instructors are professional, dedicated and passionate about each class they teach. I do not like working out in a gym, but hot yoga is something I enjoy going too. Yoga has taught me patience, gratitude and balance. Some like it hot yoga is great environment. The variety of class's makes this yoga studio unique. I truly enjoyed coming to this place, I did the two months unlimited package. When I first started I truly hated it; I felt like classes were extremely long and the heat was unbearable! But after two months I could say I loved attending each and ever class. I am a guy; I always thought of the stereotype where only female would do yoga, since I was only going to this place to company my mother I thought I would be the only guy there, but I was wrong! There are many guys who try hot yoga here, so if you're a male you don't have to worry about being alone! I attend around 30 classes within the two months period & I could say I am more flexible and I could balance myself better. Hot yoga also challenges yourself to go deep, go lower and try harder and harder. Hot yoga isn't for everyone at first but once you get use to it, you will love it. I would highly recommend Francesca classes, she is a amazing instructor who take times to know everyone & is incredibly friendly. But ever instructors here are great, if a instructor comes to you and correct your movement don't take offense to it, take it as corrected criticism; so in the future you're re able to do better and test yourself more and more. Always bring a yoga mate with you, a Long Beach towel and 2-3 bottle of ice cold water. These are a must! Get to class 15-20 mins early, so you can get a good spot and I would say after a few week sit in the front row and challenge yourself a little bit, you can do it! One thing I will never forget the instructor saying "NO WIPING" because they strongly encourage you not to wipe your sweat. They believe the sweat cools you down and relaxes you! Been pracicing here for over a year, and I absolutely love it.. Great instructors!! Always a great workout, and it's amazing how everything seems to disappear for the 60 or 90 minutes of class... Even the other people in the room seem to fade into the background..
No judgements here either... Just the motivation to have the best class you possibly can on any given day...
It's certainly not easy, but nothing worthwhile is...
The discipline and concentration I've developed here have definitely carried over into my everyday life...

I tried Some Like it Hot from a great Groupon deal they offered. I never thought I would try this but I did. I absolutely love it! I have osteoarthritis and a pretty bad herniated disc in my neck and between the heat and the safe exercise, my body feels amazing. I love the instructor, Lisa and the instructor and owner, Nicole. They are wonderful, professional and fun. This was a great surprise and just what my body needs. I will definitely be coming back after the Groupon expires. It does something so relaxing to my body. I started practicing 6 months ago at age 65. Never practiced yoga before & I am committed to classes 3 times a week. Love the challenge. Every class is a struggle which is my motivation to continue & work hard. I have gained muscle & lost inches. Love the way my body has been transformed. I've been coming here for about 6 monthes now....I knew after the very first class it was something I needed in my life! I practice 3 times a week and hope to eventully get to 5 times a week in the future. The benefits are incredible, not only for the body but mind also....I totally understand why they call it 'moving meditation'now! I am so much more focused and my aches and pains seem to have disappeared.

My home away from home...I've been practicing for almost three years and although I still cannot complete all the postures I look forward to each time I practice!! It may take awhile to get used to but it’s worth sticking with it! The feeling you have after a class is amazing. I love this studio! The staff is great and are always very kind, especially Nicole, the owner! Lisa is also very sweet. Sometimes students have bad days because of lack of water and may need to sit out during postures. The instructors are very understanding and don’t single you out which creates for a calm atmosphere. I've been coming here once or twice a week for the past 5 months. Being in the military I've had my fair share of hot yoga studio experiences all over the country, and this has been one of the better ones. I've really enjoyed the community and found the owner (Nicole) to be warm and inviting. As one of the few yoga studios, let alone hot yoga studios on Staten Island - SILH has a lot of things going for them. It is a beautiful space, has men and women locker rooms with cubbies to store your belongings, they sell water and coconut water in the check-in area. In one of the previous classes I took with the owner, Nicole, she was very helpful and gave great advice on the class. The the most recent class I took (Hot 26+2 with Lisa) was over the top hot, to the point where some of the regulars were not feeling great and someone in the class asked during practice to lower the heat. I understand that there are precautions to take before class (or being hydrated both before and after class), but this was intense.I usually practice vinyasa yoga and I'm used to instructors fixing form, the practice of Bikram is very different. However, it's nice to try new things and change it up. Bikram is definitely a change of pace for me. They have a Groupon going on right now, so if you want to try something new it is definitely worth a shot! Also get there early because parking on New Dorp lane is not the best especially with the snow. More...

I had a really great experience at this wonderful, clean, inviting hot yoga studio. I was visiting family for the Thanksgiving holiday and had the glorious opportunity to escape to attend a couple of Nicole's classes. First of all, Nicole is such a sweetheart and super inviting and kind. We hit it off right away and her open heart and welcoming personality made the experience here an even better one. I was able to attend her 60 minute HOT 26 classes and I really enjoyed how she organized the poses. I even came the morning of Thanksgiving! Knowing that I worked out prior to all the feasting made me feel so wonderful. The changing facility and showers were clean and spacious. Some like it Hot is my favorite place to be in Staten Island!! I come here every day after work to destress from my job as a school teacher. The studio offers a wide range of yoga and Pilates. I'm still hooked! The studio is definitely HOT and it keeps getting HOTTER! The practice is the same but the experience for each class is always different. The instructors are very helpful and encourage you to try your best whether you're doing a full or the first few steps of a posture and you'd be still reaping the same benefit. The people are amazing and the place is in pristine condition!it's a great place to be and as well as for your body/mind. The 26+2 hot Yoga method is a GREAT workout that is both Physically and mentally challenging and the SLIH studio is the perfect place to practice it. This studio balances me in a fantastic way. Currently going through the hot yoga with my second pregnancy, and not only does this yoga help me feel better and keep my sense of self during pregnancies, it helps me bounce back (emotionally and physically after). As a very active person, I always say the classes offered at Some like it Hot are some of the best!The studio-First of all the studio is a palace! It is spacious! Oh and it super clean!  In a place where people go to  sweat PROFUSELY one would NEVER know unless they took a class. The flooring is very maintained/cleaned, the glass mirrors or spotless, the smell.... oh wait there isn't a smell, which goes to show you how well maintained the studio is The Staff-I always make it a point to try each teacher and give critical feedback to Nicole, as I have been practicing for many years.  Nicole's staff is great.  She cares about her staff but cares about her students and how they feel with the teachers and is always receptive to feedback. The practice-Boy, this practice is INTENSE (let's not sugar coat). Its not your typical yoga or Pilates where you go in a room stretch left right forward back. The stretching is not the hardest, the difficult part is the heat, but once you get use it and not attempt to run out you will become acclimated and enjoy the heat. While you are in the room you are working your body, your mind and your soul.  You are sweating the stress of the day, week behind.  You are in a room where NO ONE judges, everyone is there to better themselves and everyone is caring and respectful of each other. Nicole has created an environment a jewel likeNo other on Staten Island. A community, a family of Yogis/ Pilate-goers. One last note- go to the website! Learn what you are going to experience, its hot in the room, you are going to stretch and push your body to the limits- you are going to need comfortable clothes, you are going to need to be hydrated BEFORE class, you Probably shouldn't eat 2 hours before class--- semi empty stomach is best ! I only have but high regards for Some Like it Hot and highly recommend you (yes you reading this) to get your workout clothes on and get to a class now- and by now I mean the next class!All the best on your practice! Update - 1/3/2017SLIH IS THE HOTTEST STUDIO IN TOWN!Still going strong with my hot yoga practice. I love this place because it has not only Bikram method classes but has also added Hot Inferno Pilates! Never thought I'd like Pilates until I tried these classes.  It's a great compliment to my yoga practice. Nicole, Lisa and Craig are personable, caring instructors and their classes kick butt! Beautiful state of the art studio makes your tough workout even more enjoying. It's really nice to go to a place where you can getaway from your hectic life and let it all go. The absolute best place to go if you want an intense workout for your body and mind. Nicole is one of the most inspiring, assertive, and encouraging yoga instructors I've ever had. The studio and locker room are always very clean and well kept and the rules Nicole has in place, keep everything running smoothly. It's an intense experience for a lot of people, but once you realize that all the rules of the class are for YOUR benefit it becomes totally worth it to follow each one. So happy to have this here in my home town. I usually attend in Manhattan. The owner is really sweet. This is for all levels from beginners to advanced. Just do the best you can as your body allows you. Like anything else, the more you discipline yourself to keep practicing the better you get at it. As for the people who brought their "Issues" with them to class i.e._ sick children and glasses and the need to be uplifted as such, take responsibility for your actions and stop blaming the owner. She has many people to accommodate and she is responsible for the safety for all those attending. The doors are locked so that no one can come in and rob or harm the business while her class is going on. The only person responsible for making you happy and "uplift"  you is you. Crazy to think that someone else should do that for you. You want to lift your spirit, then go to church or try volunteering. This is Yoga. When you go to the gym, unless you have a personal trainer, do the people at the gym uplift you?Stay home- I think the rest of the class would appreciate it if you came to class without your issues. I love this place so much! I was completely new to Bikram Yoga and I felt so welcome! I was very conscious at first considering I am a thick girl but there is no judgement here. I have only practiced with one instructor so far and she is amazing! Don't feel any way if an instructor calls you out during the class regarding your postures, Its only to help you. One little change in movement gives you great benefits! The owner Nicole has a great personality. The facility is very clean. I never had a bad experience yet and will continue to support this business. Bikram Yoga is so good for you in so many ways. It is detoxing and it tones your body. I feel amazing afterwards. I have been practicing Bikram for two years...I started in Bayridge and when this studio opened I was so excited! This facility is super clean and spacious; lots of cubbies for the clients in the locker room; always disinfecting spray for your yoga mats when class is over; a big space when you walk in to put your shoes (which is great because it helps keep the rest of the studio clean and more importantly the rug on which we take class); parking isn't an issue. Nicole is an amazing instructor and a wonderful business owner. She is extremely passionate about the practice of Bikram and it shows in class while instructing, while she practices, and while she talks about it. She always takes the time to answer any questions I or anyone else has. One thing I love and I find very important about instructors is that Nicole and Lisette both take the time to correct some of the positions during class. The corrections help me get more out of my class. I like to know that I am doing everything correctly and that I am getting the best benefits possible from each pose.Bikram is not easy! It is a discipline. But, it is a feeling unlike any other when you have successfully finished a class-  a feeling of accomplishment! It is very hot, but your body adapts when you allow it to and you listen to the instruction and suggestions of the instructor. Part of this discipline is no distractions, which is another thing I love. No cellphones, no conversations; the 90 mins is the one part of your day where you can focus on you and only you. I love this class, I love the studio, I love Nicole and Lisette (i haven't tried the other instructors yet); if you haven't tried Bikram yet, definitely give it a go!! A wonderful bikram studio to say the least! I've been to about 5 other studios across the U.S. and SI bikram is hands down the best! Here are the reasons why:1) clean clean clean clean. can't beat it. the design of the studio is clearly mindful of circumstances of the hot/sweaty practice of bikram and facilitates a spotless/sanitary environment. Plus it always has a nice clean feeling and looks IMMACULATE all the time.2) instructors. again experiencing many different instructors my the past 2 years practicing bikram, the ones at SI are so motivational and provide a lot of encouragement during class. While the style of bikram is regimented, they are ALL the nicest bikram instructors I have ever had. at other studios i've definitely experienced some opposite personalities.3) clientele. everyone is lovely, total judgement free zone. 4) location - it's great, central to a lot and no parking problem during class times :)5) nicole (owner)- one of the most dedicated and professional business owners staten island has to offer! Not only is she kind, understanding and friendly... but she has a TREMENDOUS amount of knowledge about the practice (to answer the 3489 million questions you will have). If you're looking into bikram, just remember to do your research before hand about beginner tips so you know what to expect!! it's not like regular yoga!! and go back the second time because it'll change your life :). I only came a few times, but I do wish I could go more often.  Obviously the first time you think you're in hell because your body has never experienced something like that.  After you leave is when you really feel the benefits.  You are so relaxed and surprisingly want to go back!  If someone would have told me that during the 90 minutes I would have never believed it.  I came to classes instructed by Mark and Nicole and prefer Nicole just because as a beginner I like that she corrected me and I understand her direction better.  Mark was fine, I really had nothing to compare him to because it was my first class, but it was a very crowded Saturday morning so it was overwhelming.  I liked that the studio was very clean, new and smelled pleasant for the amount of sweat that goes on there.  Nicole is very personable and I like her rapport with the customers she has gotten to know since the studio opened.  She has items for sale and the price to rent a towel or a mat is cheap.  I would definitely sign up for the unlimited monthly plans, but I don't want to add another expense right now.  I highly recommend this studio and Bikram yoga in general! This is a great studio and is Hot yoga hello Is hot 104 degrees hot!!!This class is a challenge of the mind, it does not matter how physical fit you are or how long you've been working out.  The brain is the most difficult organ/muscle to train in your body;  to understand that is to understand the concept of any type of yoga. For those negative comments made about the studio or Nicole I assure you is a pure displacement of their frustration and weakness.  The instructors are respectable and very  professional.The only reason why I'm not giving a 5 is because I wish there was more respect on behalf of the people who enter the studio.  Other yoga studios I have visit in the past I was able to lie still and mediate before class but here people are chatting and socializing ... I guess it may be a Staten Island thing not sure :( More...

I was always very hesitant to try Bikram. However, when the studio opened up on Staten Island I knew I had to give it a shot and now a month later I'm addicted!! The first class was definitely not easy and it was a physical and mental challenge to stay in the room for the whole time. Nicole is an excellent teacher who watches the class with a vigilant eye. I definitely recommend reading up on Bikram before coming to class so you know what to expect. Bikram is not like any other fitness class so some research is necessary. The instructors in Bikram do not demonstrate the postures but talk you through them so you can grow and learn on your own. There is no music or talking so you can meditate and focus on your practice. Although the first class is difficult if you push yourself to go back for another class you'll definitely start to see/feel the benefits. Overall, I would definitely recommend Nicole and Bikram Staten Island to anyone looking for an amazing workout for the mind and body ! More...

First of all, I have to say, any negative comments about any yoga studio is pretty absurd. Yoga is all about controlling your mind especially when you want to leave the room because it is too hot, or because you have to use the bathroom. The fact that anyone could write such mean things really is disturbing especially when Nicole is the sweetest yoga instructor. She emphasizes what Bikram teaches, and that is the way ALL Bikram studios/ instructors hold their classes which means you stay in the room to accomplish something, even when your mind is telling you to leave. People who are not used to the heat should do some research about Bikram yoga, or try easier less hot classes not are not as demanding. Writing mean, degrading comments ultimately only promotes your negative attitude and yoga is all about being positive. More...

I absolutely love this place! I was nervous about trying Bikram, but now I can say, I'm addicted. The studio is very clean & very relaxing on the eyes. The owner, Nicole, is very helpful and super nice. Any questions you may have, she will be glad to answer. I always bring my own mat and towel, but if you happen to forget, she has mats and towels for rent. She carries water and yoga clothing. You can sign up online and just check in when you get there. There are usually 3 classes a day during the week and 2 on the weekends. It does get hot in the yoga room, so make sure you are hydrated & dressed comfortably. More...

I'm new to Bikram Yoga so I was excited/nervous before my first class but after 3, I love it! Nicole and Sylvia are really great and talk you through the whole 90 minute process. They don't demonstrate the moves in Bikram but talk you through each movement. The class goes through a series on 26 poses twice. The room is 100 degrees with 40% humidity, if I'm remembering correctly. Basically you sweat like you've never sweated before in your life! Prepare to wear as little as possible. Come to class well hydrated and bring water and/or coconut water with you. You'll also need a yoga mat and a towel to lay on your mat, if you don't have you can rent there. The facility is very nice and clean and I'm completely comfortable going there. Parking is probably your biggest problem since it's on New Dorp Lane but there are side streets. I say definitely at least try Bikram! You'll be sore and, if you're like me, exhausted like you've never known, but push through and come back! More...
