Services

Swedish massage is one of our most popular forms of massage. Depending on how it's performed, it can be therapeutic, relaxing, or stimulating. Massage is performed directly on the body using a variety of materials, such as massage oil, massage cream, talcum powder, or medicated ointment. Your masseuse will use a variety of techniques, including:

Effleurage - lightly touching the body to warm up muscles
Friction - rubbing one surface quickly over another to create heat
Petrissage - kneading muscles to increase circulation
Tapotement - tapping on the body to release tension from deep muscles

Sports massage is used to alleviate the stress and tension that builds up in the soft tissues from physical activity. Over time tension caused by activity can build up in the muscles, causing stresses on joints, ligaments, and tendons. Overexertion and overuse can cause lesions and other minor injuries.

Sports massage uses a combination of techniques to break down lesions and help muscles recover more quickly, allowing you to get back to your regular routine. Some of the techniques used include:

Swedish massage
Stretching
Compression
Friction
Toning
Trigger point response (similar to acupressure and shiatsu)

Deep tissue massage is designed to relieve severe tension in both muscles and the connective tissues and fascia.

This type of massage focuses on the second layer of muscles, located below the surface of the outermost muscles.

Deep tissue massage is recommended for people who suffer from chronic pain, are involved in strenuous physical activity (such as athletes), and patients who have sustained injuries that require physical therapy.

Sports Therapy is an aspect of healthcare that is specifically concerned with the prevention of injury and the rehabilitation of the patient back to optimum levels of functional, occupational and sports specific fitness, regardless of age and ability.

Therapy Clinic Initial Assessment

Your session will begin with a conversation with your therapist to discuss your case and your needs. Following this, a physical examination will be performed which will enable our therapists to form a working diagnosis. This will be explained to you, along with your treatment options and an idea of expected outcomes. We always try and allocate enough time to enable us to provide some form of treatment within this first session as well, along with some advice so that you can help yourself progress day to day.
