Karen Matcham Design offers a design service principally in relation to figure skating and associated sports costumes and is the designer for SkateCat sportswear. As an experienced designer, I can offer a complete bespoke service to other specialist dress needs, such as orchestral wear, occasion wear and theatrical costumes.

As a beginner and getting my first pair of skates I wasnt exactly sure what to expect but I was amazed by the service and advice and I'm now a happy owner of a perfect fitting pair of skates with guards, soakies and socks to match :-) definitely worth the trip from Coventry!

In the process of getting my first pair of skates. Came across SkateCat from search engine and found their prices to be very competitive.
Gave them a call initially wanting some advice on size but ended up being given tips on how to size for skates, how they should fit and lacing of the skates. Was very impressive with level of knowledge and willingness to offer advice. Will be ordering from their website and would not hesitate to recommend.

Karen is extremely helpful, patient and knows her figure skating .A few months ago my wife had previously been to Skate Cat to buy some new skating boots since her 2nd pair of second hand starter boots had broken. She was there for a while but found the right pair for her and has been very pleased with them.So when I started to progress with my own skating my hockey boots (Bauer Nexus N5000 purchased elsewhere) weren't helping, for numerous reasons, centre of balance are different on hockey boots than figure skates, no toe picks, and in particular that they had never fit me properly & always caused foot, ankle & muscle pain in my right foot (I have wide & asymmetric feet).I went to Skate Cat, with a fairly tight budget to get figure skates. Karen measured my feet and went about finding the correct boot size and shape that was within my budget.Turns out my hockey boots were 1.5 sizes too large in order to accommodate the width. We spent a while trying different brands and sizes to find the perfect fit (including possibly ordering in a 'wide' size that could be moulded to my clown feet).We finally settled on a very reasonably priced pair of Graf 500s that I've skated in 3 times in the past 10 days and found them to be the most comfortable, yet supportive skates I've tried to date.As well as skates (boots, blades, etc) Skate Cat also do clothing, accessories and a range of services from boot moulding to costume design. Wow what an amazing lady! after a bad experience at my local skate shop we read all the great reviews for here...and decided to head on our 2hr journey . ..which was well worth it...the reviews are correct!! The shop is only small & a little hard to find...but it is fab! On our arrival she made us feel very welcome & relaxed. Despite being close to closing time she took time measuring & checking my boots to ensure they were perfect for me...& explained everything as she went along. She even gave me tips to help me on my skating journey. A truly lovely, helpful lady...I now have my first skates & I am chuffed to bits...we will Def be making that long journey to go here again...its been well worth it.x More...
