We LOVED everything that came out of sit means sit in Copley. Our dog Gatsby was just becoming a dog that me and my wife never had to train before. His aggression was new to us. One week at sit means sit and he is a completely new dog, we are so grateful! Our next dog will definitely be going there!

My fiancé and I recently just had our German Shepherd, Piper, graduate from Sit Means Sit-Akron/Cleveland! We had attempted everything we could think of trying to get Piper to listen to us and communicate effectively, nothing seemed to be working. She was a very submissive dog when we rescued her so we were not sure what approach to take with her. We finally were referred to Sit Means Sit and it was a complete life changer. We had Jim as our trainer primarily for our classes. He was fantastic! He had a vast knowledge of the training and was full of tips/tricks for at home learning. They completely built up her confidence and she is no longer the very submissive dog we first had. I would definitely recommend this training program!

Honest review:

Pros: staff, in all positions, are incredibly helpful. Very knowledgeable and professional. Offer a variety of packages to accommodate your needs. Jim was a great trainer, and I really enjoyed every time he came over. Lifetime warranty on training collar.

Cons: Holy price. While I think their service is good, it certainly doesn't match the price. At all. It was more than a month's rent by a good bit. We paid less to get our hunting dog trainer, and this isn't as close to the comprehensive training we got from them. Just basic commands. Never really worked off-leash. Which is what I paid them for... That responsibility was on me. Group meetings were at incredibly inconvenient times for me, and didn't provide much benefit. You basically zap your pet into submission (though it's not incredibly painful unless you really turn it up. Same tech used for electrotherapy in muscle recovery/stimulation) until they listen.

The training is much more focused on submission rather than cooperation. My poor dog has necrosis around the middle of her neck from the collar (even using it sparingly and adjusting as instructed). I've moved to sound-based, cooperation focused training and got much more desirable results. She seems much happier, too.

Conclusion: they're good at what they do. If you have a hyper-aggressive/unruly dog, this is the way for you. However, if your dog isn't acting out in an extreme way, there are much better avenues. My dog is much less stressed, more focused and cooperative since I moved to sound-based, cooperation focused training.

We recently enrolled our beloved canine family member in the Sit Means Sit 20 day program, and we are absolutely amazed at the results!! I knew I would never find the time to train our sweet girl properly, and I have a deep interest in getting her certified to be a therapy dog. When we brought her home, the training we received to continue her progress was more than sufficient to maintain and improve all of the wonderful obedience skills she learned during her program. Our dog is all of 17 months old, and her listening skills are amazing. We are so proud to take her places and enjoy her well-mannered demeanor. The 20 day program included life-time group and private lesson follow - what more could you ask for?

We highly recommend this wonderful group of professional trainers!

Our year old dog Guinness could not have been any sweeter but he was running our house. It seemed as though we were constantly yelling at him and he enjoyed the negative attention. We knew we needed to do something to break the cycle and give him an opportunity to become a good dog. He did the 15 day boarding and training program and what a difference it has made! Although we are still developing his skills, he is an entirely different dog. He sits quietly with us, lays politely beside the dinner table, and is so much more affectionate. Instead of yelling at him, we now have commands he understands and usually a reminder is all he needs to comply. He now receives positive attention. Life for all of us (and Guinness) is so much better!!! Thank you Sit Means Sit!

Sit means Sit is an awesome dog training program. Every person that we have dealt with at the facility has been professional, nice, friendly and knowledgeable. I read the review below from "MK" - not really sure what they are talking about - seems like a made up review. Every person I have spoken to that has had their dog there, loves the program and has done wonders for the dog and their pet's training. In two words "it works."

We did the 10-day "boot camp" last summer because our labradoodle was nipping people coming over to the house as well as not "coming" when he was called. We had previously purchased a "Sport Dog" collar, but never used it. We used this collar for boot camp and still do. It's a gentle "reminder" to our dog on what he learned.

My dog is very obedient now and it's been 9 months! Amazing. Love the program and the trainers. I can't say enough. If you want an honest review, come to a Saturday morning group class and ask any one of the participants what they think. Trust me, you'll walk away wanting to bring your pet in for training.

Sit Means Sit Dog Training Q&A

Company Q&A

What inspired you to start your own business?

I learned about Sit Means Sit dog training while I was living in Denver, Colorado. I was looking for a dog trainer and was referred to Sit Means Sit by a man I met in a dog park. I was so impressed with the free demonstration they showed me. As amazing as it was, I was unsure that they would be able to get my dog under control.
My Australian Cattle dog had a ton of energy and he liked to run! He never came when I called him and would jump on people, grab food off the table and had numerous other bad habits. The trainer did a demonstration with my dog and within a few minutes had my dog totally under control and making eye contact with him. I immediately signed up for the training. Within three weeks of training, I had off leash control of my dog and he listened to me even around distractions. When I saw the results, I knew this company was something special.
