>About Shift Counselling:
Shift counselling offers a safe space, where we can work together to help you work things out and to move towards a positive change. I understand it can be daunting to come try counselling and it is important to find the right counsellor for you. Therefore, allow me to briefly introduce myself.
My name is Barbora and I’m the founder of Shift Counselling. I am a qualified Counsellor with a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling from the York St John University and a Bachelor's Degrees in Psychology from the University of Worcester. I am a registered member of BACP and also have additional certificates in specific types of counselling.
For the last three years I've been working as a volunteer in-house counsellor for the York Medical Group and have recently re-joined the Counselling and Mental Health Clinic at York St John University. I've been working mainly with adults, but I also worked with children in the past during my time with Mindful - an organisation providing online support and counselling for children.
I always wanted to help people, so following my qualifications and hands on experience in various setting I decided to create Shift Counselling to be able to offer the type of counselling I would want myself. I wanted to create a safe space for people to be able to work through their issues at their own pace without having to adhere to a strict number of sessions per client. I also offer counselling in Slovak and Czech, as well as English of course.

People come to counselling for a variety of reasons including depression, anxiety, stress or bereavement. Counselling is a form of talking therapy where you can explore your thoughts, emotions and experiences in a safe and guided way. It can help you to move on from trauma, increase self-awareness, make sense of your experiences, and develop new healthier coping strategies.

The fees are £40 per session, with the first session charged at £35. I also offer concessions for students and those on a lower income/benefits. For more accessibility Skype or phone sessions are also possible.
