sfvgardens is a garden service company located in Hellingly, East Sussex. We provide contract garden maintenance to our clients. All aspects of the trade are undertaken including border renovations, pruning, hedge-cutting, lawn renovation, orchard management, kitchen gardening, pest control, disease control, soil testing and management, weed control, Garden design, hard-landscaping and tree surgery are provided by associate companies.

What do you love most about your job?
Making a difference! Transforming a wilderness into a neat, tidy, functional but above all beautiful garden gives me great deal of pleasure. My clients usually come to me when their garden or estate is causing them concerns. We agree a schedule of work and a timetable to complete it. When I have delivered the project it gives me as much pleasure as my client. Renovating old borders and lawns is a speciality of mine and as a member of both the RHS and Institute of Groundsmanship I am up to date with all latest techniques and methods, however, my normal approach is based on traditional methods I learnt as an apprentice in the 1980's
What inspired you to start your own business?
I recently sold my I.T. company and my only subsequent intention was to start a gardening business. The company sale enabled me to set up sfvgardens equip it fully and bring my qualifications up to date. I am thrilled to be once again following the profession I started in my 20's!
Why should our clients choose you?
Clients who want the correct job done at the appropriate time using the best methods and tools will want to speak to sfvgardens. It is easy to find someone to work cheaply and make a mess of your garden. Very easy. Finding someone who has the qualifications to back their experience is not so easy. It is also rare to find a sound business head applied to this profession.
Lawn Renovation and repair. Turfing and seeding.
Autumn and spring renovations. Lawn repairs. Lawn weed control, scarification, tining, verti-cutting, top-dressing all provided by an RHS qualified professional and IoG member.
Border renovation
Rejuvenate old, tired borders and beds. Clean up weed infested borders and beds. Transplant and remove shrubs and trees.
Hedge cutting
Formal and informal hedging to a height of 20ft using the latest tools and topiary equipment. Hedges cut square and straight.
weed, pest and disease control
Harnessing all available biological controls, cultural controls and chemicals.
Orchard management
All aspects of orchard work are undertaken. From planning through to rejuvenating old orchards. Formative pruning of maidens and 2,3 year old trees as they become established. Apples, pears, plums, cherries and all other top fruit.
Annual pruning of shrubs and trees
Tidy-up, reducing and shaping of shrubs and trees.
Lawn mowing
Using precision cylinder mowers or large rotary mowers but always with a nice stripe!
Plant & Tree sourcing and planting.
We find the plants, purchase and plant. We also plant any of your purchases.
Kitchen gardening
We will develop your veg plot or allotment with you and guide you through the growing seasons.
