Hi, I'm Emily and my aim is simple - I want you to have fun whilst I take beautiful, natural photographs that really mean something to you. There will be no awkward poses and no forced smiles, just pictures of all the joy, wonder, love, tantrums and humour that make up a family or group of friends.
I'm passionate about taking great pictures that really reflect you. I do not work to a formula but let each and every shoot evolve naturally.
Before the shoot, we'll have a chat about your hopes and any concerns you might have (often regarding uncooperative toddlers and self conscious teenagers). Typically for family sessions we go somewhere you know you have fun – this might be the park, woodlands, farm, beach or your own garden. Newborn and baby sessions tend to take place in your own home and I'll talk you through the best way to prepare for a shoot there.
During the shoot, I will give some gentle direction to ensure you are in the most flattering light and position, then I just let you get on with it so that I can capture your family interacting naturally. Children are at their best when they are relaxed and having fun, no matter what their age - from babies right through to trendy teenagers. So I work hard to make sure everyone is feeling at ease. I always come prepared in case we need help with the little ones – I find a pot of bubbles can work wonders at getting smiles out of the most reluctant of children!
The best times to photograph your baby are when they are less than six weeks old for curly, sleepy shots; at about six months when they are sitting up confidently giving you gummy grins; and then again at 12 months when they might be thinking about taking their first steps.
Newborn shoots are amazing fun, and generally work best within the first ten days of your baby's birth and at your house. This way they are surrounded by their familiar smells and sounds, and you have everything you need at your fingertips. I don't tend to use many props – unless you count Mummy or Daddy! I love to take sleepy shots of them curled up in your arms or on soft blankets, as well as them enjoying time with their new family. I always bring a variety of blankets and baskets we can play around with, and I'm happy to incorporate anything that has a special meaning to you. I'm also sure to get close ups of their incredible wrinkles, and tiny hands and feet. I love to take pictures of your baby that look like your baby - if you want to have pictures taken of your little one scrunched up on a bean bag wearing fairy wings, then I'm probably not the photographer for you!
Parties are a great time to get pictures of everyone spending time together. You might be celebrating a birthday, anniversary, graduation, engagement, Christening or Naming Day, family reunion, or just that the sun is predicted to shine! I love to take relaxed, candid photographs of people, without them feeling the pressure of being captured on camera. And of course I'm always happy to take group pictures. Basically you tell me what you pictures you want and I'll be sure to get them, with a few extra gems on top!
Once the shoot is finished, I'll edit your images to provide you with the best colour and black and white photographs from the session - probably between 100 and 200 pictures. These will be transferred to you digitally via Dropbox to be used however you wish.
I also like to keep things simple, so there is just one price for your session and digital images. If this sounds like what you're looking for, then I would love to hear from you.
