A fine listed building early 17th Century Manor House sensitively furnished and decorated in keeping with a building dating to 1600. The Edwardian single room is comfortable, clean with tv, tea & coffee facilities. Not en-suite but shower room just across the landing. For the price and character recommended, would stay again. If you want ambience and old style charm this is the place. We were in the Georgian room which had original Georgian panelling. The staircase is delightful with a huge landing and exactly in the character of a small country house. This is no Travelodge or Ibis (excellent though they are); this is a real old style building - that's our style - which makes you think that you are on holiday rather than still at work. We liked many touches: the pot plant of red baby roses and the other fresh flowers. Every small detail seemed to have been thought of. The residents' lounge was large and comfortable. The beds were comfortable and we had a very quiet night despite the proximity of the road (a village street not a main through route). The breakfast was superb (5 stars). Good parking. We specifically chose a room that did not have an en-suite but our private bathroom was not far away and dressing gowns and slippers were provided. If you need dinner there are several restaurants within walking distance, one of which has top notch fine dining. This B&B is a great discovery. More...

My room was pleasant and clean and the furniture worked well with the age and character of the house. Although the ensuite was very small, i appreciate that if you want to stay in an old building, it's not always possible to have a large modern bathroom. I was pleased with the large TV in my room. The house has character with some creaky floorboards but had a nice feeling generally. Bed was comfortable & warm. Nice to have tea, coffee & hot chocolate in the room. Filter coffee was available downstairs along with a microwave...always a plus for solo travellers who don't always want to eat out alone. The bar of chocolate and complimentary bottle of water was also appreciated. There was a very good selection for breakfast and plenty to eat. I had trouble accessing the internet but it wasn't a big deal as i used my phone instead. More...

My husband and I were staying for one night on the way back from a trip to Lincolnshire just at the end of the last bout of very cold and wet weather in April. We arrived around 6pm and parked and found our way in perfectly easily thanks to the very clear directions we had been sent. It was such a relief to go into a warm comfortable room before walking a short distance up the road to a very pleasant pub for dinner on a Sunday night (not always available in some places). The bed was very comfortable and our breakfast was nice, served by the pleasantly friendly owner. If we had had longer, and the weather better, it would have been lovely to sit outside on the terrace and get more of a feel of this obviously interesting old house. We noticed that newspapers were provided and the sitting room looked like a nice spot to relax in. The only thing I would suggest would be a bit of sprucing up of the bedroom furnishings (e.g. lamp shade was very tired) but these things are personal taste really. A nice stay in a very convenient location. More...

We stayed for an over-nighter on our way to London. The rooms are quite individual and decorated somewhat in the style of the names they are given, e. g. the Victorian Room or the Edwardian Room. The rooms were comfortable and quite well furnished, in an eclectic blend of styles. Some rooms have en suites while others have shared bathrooms and the prices reflect this. Rothmans offer excellent value for money. Breakfast is more than adequate, whatever your tastes, with cooked breakfast being ordered the night before for a choice of times in the morning. We enjoyed our stay and would return if we were in the area again. More...

I booked this B & B because of the very reasonable price and location. I was very pleasantly surprised by the huge size of the Four Poster room, by the comfortable chairs, the quirky furnishings, and the huge television. The large window looked out over large sheltered garden. The breakfast was very good and surprisingly tasty.||Some down sides however. The en suite was tiny, but I suppose there's not much that can be done to expand it. Also it is a creaky old house, which means it can be a bit noisy when other guests walk past. And I didn't really enjoy have to tap in various codes for various doors.||On the whole I really enjoyed the unique quality of the building and would happily stay again.|| More...

Desk and Wi-Fi which was very handy as business stop over. My only minus was the shower was a bit small for a big bloke but not a real issue. Breakfast was excellent full English with plenty of choice. toast, cereals, cold meats and cheeses yogurts etc. Would def recommend and would use again. More...

I stayed here for a few days a week, for 9 weeks, spread over many rooms. Overall, I have thoroughly enjoyed staying here: Peter was very nice at all times (always willing to help with any problem I had), the breakfast was good (with a good selection of cooked foods to choose from, even for a vegetarian like me), and of course the rooms were nice. I would recommend looking at their website for pictures of the rooms, as they are very accurate (for example, the amount of space can vary from room to room). The beds were comfy, and there was decent wifi available in all rooms. An added nice touch was being allowed to use the microwave, fridge and cutlery whenever I wanted to! More...
