We have used Robert twice for family pictures after having tried other photographers. We are extremely happy and impress with the quality of service and finished product that he offers. Robert is very professional, his equipment is top of the line, he is always on time, he always spends more time with us than the allotted "purchased" time to make sure we get all the shots we want. He is creative and very good at directing to get the best pictures. I'm mostly impress that every single picture he takes is perfect! They lighting, the focus, etc comes out perfect in every picture so it's always hard to pick a few to print and share with the family. We just did a photo shoot with Robert this week and we already have some amazing photos in hand.  Robert is easy to work with, the consummate professional, and he even manages to make the shoot fun.  I have two young daughters so keeping them happy and focused for an hour on the beach can be a challenge, but even despite some grumpiness, Robert captured great shots and we had a blast.  We did a shoot with Robert a couple of years ago as well and the photographs from that shoot have been proudly displayed all over our home.  We always receive compliments on them.  I already know it will be hard to choose from all of the terrific photographs Robert took this week.  He works diligently with you to get every shot you want and to make sure it is a great one.  His eye for composition and light is impeccable.  I cannot believe I let 2 years go by between shoots this time.  This will be an annual event for us from now on! What an amazing experience!  We did a family photo shoot with Robert at Balboa Park. He was very professional,  easy going and really made everyone feel comfortable and relaxed.  It was actually fun!  We  were pleasantly suprised when we received the pictures so soon after the shoot!  And so many to choose from!  Overall it was a 5 star experience and I would highly recommend Robert Goold Photography! I bought a groupon type deal for Robert.  I really wanted some good family pictures and thought this would be a good opportunity.   Robert was amazing!  I have a 2 yr old and a 6 month old, so as you can imagine, they arent easy to work with.  I came away from the photo shoot feeling happy and confident that we got great pictures.  It was an extremely positive experience and he really worked well with my family and worked off of us to get great family pictures.  When my 2 yr old lost his attention span, Robert played some games with him and got him back into it.  The turnaround time on the pictures was insanely quick!!  We got them in less than 24 hours after our photo shoot.  I would highly recommend Robert Good Photography!!  His pictures came out beautifully and he was a pleasure to work with. We used Robert because of a Groupon for our engagement photos back in January. We were on a very short timeline due to a deployment but Robert fit us in with no problem. I purchased a Groupon for a 1hr photo shoot last Dec 2011. I put it on the back burner, thinking I would use it for next year's Xmas cards. When I got engaged in Feb, my fiance and I thought it would be a good idea to use it for baseball-themed Save-the-Dates. I was a little hesitant when I went on Yelp to read reviews before scheduling because of all of the other negative comments from Groupon users, but I had purchased and didn't want it to go to waste.I contacted him the end of Aug, hoping to schedule for mid-October. I actually had a hard time scheduling between emailing back and forth and calling (don't remember the name of the woman on the phone). Took about 3 weeks to actually lock in a date and time, but I was thankful that at least they could fit us in in October...Robert was great! Prompt, called me while we were on the way to tell me where to park and meet up. Since we didn't know the area very well and we wanted a baseball theme, he had picked a baseball field near Sunset Cliffs. Well, life happens, and unbeknownst to Robert, they had actually torn it down. But Robert still managed to take great pics. He let us do an outfit change for some regular pics, and our session was a little over an hour if I'm correct, but he made sure to get all of the shots and didn't rush us to end. He brought his friend/sometimes assistant Kristen, and the two of them were fun and great conversation. A lot of our pictures are us laughing just from talking to them, and they came out cute :) We got the pictures the following Wednesday (from our Saturday shoot).Overall, excellent!! Had a great time with them, loved many of our photos (I've posted some for reference-the baseball ones and the purple-y dress), and we are proudly using one for our Save-the-Dates (also posted). Robert did an amazing job, and the photos he took came out great!  We had 6 adults, a 3 year old, an 18 month old, and two 8 month old babies at Windansea.  Needless to say, this was not an easy photo shoot.  Nonetheless, he was patient and was able to get those difficult shots of kids.  Robert was also really creative, and during the hour he spent with us, he captured hundreds of different and unique shots.  Afterward, we got all of the images, and there are a lot of awesome ones.  I'd definitely recommend Robert! We just took family photos with Robert and Kate in Balboa Park.  Since we have two young children it was a bit crazy, but Robert and Kate took it in stride with a lot of patience (way more than my husband and I did! ).  They had some great ideas and just let us do our thing as opposed to a lot of posing, which was perfect for us.  Robert sent us his photos within 24 hours!  Kate's were mailed within 3 days!  We were very happy with the service we got and would definitely hire them again! I could not recommend Robert Goold Photography highly enough! Robert is an exceptional photographer. He has an eye for lighting and scenery. I worked with him two separate times and after which I will work with only him moving forward. He is professional, punctual, responsive, and talented. He provided results above my expectations. For some background...The first time I worked with him was for engagement photos in Balboa Park, a notoriously populated park in San Diego. He masterfully took each shot so that no other person was in the background. It really seemed like we had rented out the entire park for ourselves. On top of that, we only spent an hour with him and got 600 photos in 5 different locations. I was even able to change my clothes! I am by no means a model, and engagement photos are awkward enough... but he made me and my man feel at ease. He got us laughing and we really took some amazingly special photos (one of which is my yelp profile picture today!)The second time I worked with Robert was my wedding. He is the ideal wedding photographer. He asked to scout the location and was direct about what places would work best. On top of that, he even scouted nearby parks and found additional special backdrops to capture more memorable photos. He is a true artist that is just as invested in the results of your photos as you are. As though that weren't enough, he was completely autonomous. He  didn't bug me once during the wedding and let me have a fantastic time while he beautifully captured all my guests and my husband and I. Do yourself a favor and work with this guy! More...

Okay, I see there are a lot of people upset at the Groupon issues. I was one of them, but to be fair to Robert and his assistants, they made it up to me completely. I really think the quality of the images, the light and the movements that Robert captures are amazing. I've had a lot worse results with other photographers. The only reason I'm not going for 5 stars is that I was not a big fan of the Photoshop editing that was done to the pictures. Since I received both edited and original versions I was able to see the difference. The edited pictures look heavily made-up and almost painted. The originals, on the other hand, are perfect. Just took family portraits by Robert today and we already love how the pictures turned out. Robert was professional and really nice. Robert was great to work with.  I had the Groupon, so I didn't expect $300 service, but he was punctual and prepared and wonderful to work with.  He was super patient and very understanding with our son who is an EXTREMELY spirited 4 year old boy.  He used the 1 hour timeframe that we had as best as possible with our soon going in a million directions :)  Anyway- he ended up getting some really amazing shots that we will treasure forever!!thanks Robert!!! Robert Goold was an Excellent, Professional, Patient Photographer.  I bought a deal with him for my sons 1 year old photos (taken in 11/2010) and family photos. During that shoot  he gave me the heads up for another deal coming soon and I bought one again for my family photos to take the next year.  With that being said, I did have all the issues with scheduling the latest session.  No reply's for weeks, no emails, then finally replies but only through emails.  It was a disaster.  Here is the thing... Robert fired the assistant who screwed it all up (fired Adrienne late December) and now has his old assistant Kristen back who was great to schedule with, just as I had remembered her from before.  She spent 20 minutes talking with me and was genuinely beside herself with all the damage the previous assistant had done.  So why 5 stars if I had issues  Everyone deserves a second chance, and I don't regret it at all.  We did photos at Wind n sea on Friday and I had all my pics and 5 enhanced photos by mid day Saturday.  Robert was amazing with my husband and son.  Extremely patient with my 2 year old and doing everything with us to get him to look at the camera.  Jumping, funny faces, chasing him, he even laid in the sand and got soaked by an incoming wave.  He brushed it off and said "if I don't get dirty, I'm not doing my job".  I had referred his deal to 4 friends and I know they will all turn out great. I used a groupon for my session with Robert, and I have absolutely nothing but good things to say about my experience.  I did a solo shoot on the beach.  Robert made me feel comfortable and the photos I received are absolutely GORGEOUS.  Its exactly what I was hoping for.  And I received the photos the very next morning, even before 8 am!  Kristen, his assistant, is incredibly friendly and makes you feel like you've known her for years.  She is so personable which made for an even more comfortable shoot.  Thanks Robert and Kristen, I had a great time!  I recommend Robert Goold Photography. After my initial review, I received a phone call from Robert's new assistant. She was VERY apologetic and asked if they could make it up to my daughter and me.  I took them up on the offer and am so glad I did!!We met in Balboa Park and spent about an hour together. Robert took tons of photos and his assistant, Kristen was helpful with my one year old daughter.  I received all of the unprocessed photos hours later and am happy with them. Robert is amazing ! I couldnt believe how stunning our holiday photos turned out-  far better than anything I have gotten in the past. . We had a great experience with Robert Goold Photography.  I was skeptical that the Groupon + 2 month wait for a sitting was going to be worth while, but after getting the pictures in hand they are really breath taking.  We did a photo shoot at Balboa park and Robert quickly impressed us with his artistic eye and fanatical approach to photography.  He didn't let a mere water puddle keep him from photographing in the right spot and wiped it off with his bare arms and sat on it and swished around until all was clear.  A half hour later he was tip toeing through Balboa park vegetation to remove a spider web that blocked the perfect shot...quite the hands-on service.  We have young kids with a radioactive half-life of about 2.5 minutes, but Robert and Kristen kept them entertained, happy and engaged.  Their hard work resulted in the best pictures we've ever had of our family.  Robert also did a great job of shifting gears - one moment catering to a 1-and-a-half year-old, the other moment making my wife and me feel like we were taking engagement photos or on some romantic getaway.   The only reason I refrain from a five star rating is that there was a mix up in the delivery of the photos.  I attribute this to RGP being slammed with Groupon business.  Once we brought it to their attention that we were disappointed we hadn't yet received the photos Adriano (Robert's colleague) personally delivered them to our house.  You can tell they are an operation that takes great pride in their work.   We would definitely recommend Robert Goold Photography and bought a second Groupon.  We're sure this next time will be a 5 star experience. I bought the Groupon and my experience from beginning to end was wonderful! Kristen called me back the same day to schedule my appt, which is very impressive considering over 800 people bought the Groupon. We had our photo session outdoors at Sunset Cliffs over looking the beach.  Robert and Kristen did a great job. They didn't rush us, and allowed us to take our time with our 2 young children.  The session lasted for 1 hr, which is plenty of time.The best part is that they mailed all of the raw photo images on dvd 2-3 days later.  That type of service alone is remarkable on all accounts!  Also, it was very convenient for us considering that we live in Orange County and not in San Diego.  Receiving all of the raw photo's is way better than the photographer picking and choosing which photos they like and then only offering those to you, since their taste may not necessarily match yours.  With Robert it's no problem, you get every photo that he took.  For us, that meant all 700+ photos (he really must have loved our girls), which worked out well for us.  =)  There were plenty of photos to choose from for each pose we took.  He captured each pose from a variety of different angles.  They were artistic and provided a variety of styles per pose to choose from so that something will line up with your preference & taste.  He did a great job.  Would definitely recommend and do business with again. I have always felt that for a photographer to be truly talented, they had to be a master of both the art and science of photography. With Robert Goold Photography, they changed my point of view.Robert is a very talented photographer...without question. But what sets him apart was his unabashed love and zeal for what he does. He enthusiasm and his personality made it a very fun time for my entire family. While we were all looking forward to having our family pictures taken, none of us really expected to have fun..so much so, we didn't want it to stop.His assistant Kristin just made the entire experience complete. Her wonderful personality, her infectious energy and her genuine joy for children was heartwarming. Put both Robert and Kristin together and you have a team that can turn what would be just technically perfect photographs into the capturing of beautiful and magical moments. Robert and Kristin have a way or working together that brings out the best of everyone. Robert has an amazing eye and captured the moments effortlessly. I don't know what that other person was talking about response time. I too took advantage of the Groupon opportunity this week and I got a quick reply to my email saying I needed to book with them on the phone. And then I got a prompt reply call from Kristin to make the appointment. Then it was just a game of phone tag but within a day, I got scheduled. Looking forward to the shoot in a few weeks-sure, I'd love to do it tomorrow, but what do you expect when they offer such a great deal to THOUSANDS of Groupon members. Robert did a wonderful job on our family photo shoot.  My kids (age 6 and 5) loved taking pictures with him.  I have not been able to get my 6 year old to smile for pictures in a long time. Kristin was great with our kids - we could not have done it without her help!  Our kids are a handfull.  We love the photos of our new baby - just beautiful.  Our family pictures came out great!  We can't wait to share them.  I received all our photos on disk in less than 5 days!  We are so pleased with our pictures.  Thank you Robert!! RGP was one of the very best experiences I have had with a photographer. He was extremely professional and his artistic flair showed through in the photos. I can't say enough about my experience with Robert.  The initial phone call with Kristen really impressed me- she was extremely personable, knowledgeable, and professional.  Robert was just as exquisite.  The photo shoot was a gift for my parent's anniversary,  it was a surprise and they had never done a professional photography session before so we werent sure what to expect.  Our photo shoot was at Balboa Park and Robert made my parents feel very comfortable.  I must add at this point that I never knew what my father's teeth looked like until I was 13 (he is a happy guy, but never ever shows his teeth when he smiles)- well Robert managed to capture toothy smiles in every photo.  Not only did he capture toothy smiles, he captured the essence of my parents marriage, their playfulness, their love for each other, and in the photo's I participated in, their love for me.  I was moved to tears when I saw the pictures.  My parents live in TX so this experience, and the amazing quality of work Robert delivered has given me one of the best gifts I have ever recieved.  The irony is the gift wasn't even for me.  We had fun, the hour flew by, and he even added in a few precious ones with my very uncooperative and slobbery boxer.  Robert and Kristin made sure we got the beautiful pictures before my parents left 3 days later.  It was a very special experience thanks to Robert and Kristin, and I cant wait for the next shoot. Robert did a fantastic job for our family photos in Balboa Park. My 6 year-old son can be a handful, but he was extremely patient with him and was able to get terrific action shots. He also took lovely photos of my 4 year-old daughter that I know we will always cherish. Robert did a great job on our family photo shoot at the beach.  My 3 sons were not looking forward to another boring photo session, but left raving about how much fun they had.  Robert was very comprehensive, and patient.  He kept us all moving, yet didn't rush us.  He used as much of the varied landscape as he could, took request well, and had great suggestions from his extensive experience.  You will not be dissapointed.
