What inspired you to start your own business?
Why photography? Why now?
Well, prior to owning rkpodderFOTO, I was an engineer working for Northrop Grumman. My job was to develop technology for aerospace.
After retiring early, I went to Film School at UCLA, learned the trade. I directed and produced award winning feature and documentary films. I felt the same challenge of innovation in creating something.
Later I realized it would be unsustainable to continue an 18 hour work day and coordinate with lots of people. In 2014, I started a local photography business. It became mentally more challenging.
I have to develop my unique STYLE
I brings vast skill set and creative mind to photography. In real estate photography either there is a lack of dimensions using just a point-and-shoot camera or over editing resulting in a 'fake' look.
Whereas in Portrait and Headshot photography, the challenge is to connect with the living breathing subject. I know that very well. I directed actors and crew members and brought out the best on the set. Find out what's in their mind. The technical aspects come later.
Every day is a new day and new venture. Nothing mundane. That's what I like most!
Why should our clients choose you?
I bring over 20 years of film making and multi media producing skills to photography. I am an expert in storytelling through lenses.
When it's a real estate photography, I see each property through the point of view of a prospective buyer. What attracts me and what's not so important. Is there anything unique to this property?
I make a mental list of room by room shots before the shooting starts.
When it's a corporate portrait, Headshot or family portrait:
I hold a separate session to understand the need and purpose of the photo shoot. I discuss with them the suitable dresses, make up and shooting option to make their story comes out vividly.
