I only have praise for Richer Sounds having used them extensively many years ago when I was more 'into' HiFi. In more recent years, in the pursuit of convenience, I swapped to a decent (if uninspiring) Sonos based system. After finding my old Quad 11L speakers in a cupboard over Christmas, I really fancied listening to some half-way decent stereo again, so I set about looking for a decent all-in-one system that I could use the Quad's with. Enter the Denon RCD-M41DAB. Seeing that Richer Sounds did them at a great price, I phoned to see if they had in stock in Solihull and they did, they happily put one aside for me to go into store the following day. On arrival I was pleasantly greeted and whilst they retrieved the Denon I had a pleasant chat with the folks in there, talking about the quality of the Quad's. In addition I also purchased some quality speaker cable. They were clearly still in a festive mood as after we got into a short discussion about a movie that another customer was testing on one of the TV sound systems, the store assistant (I think it was Michael) suddenly produced a number of 4K UHD Blu-Rays (which included the movie in question) as a freebie! That was totally unexpected and really made my day. Even if he hadn't done that, I couldn't really praise the staff at Richer Sounds highly enough anyway, it's always gratifying purchasing from people who clearly love their job. I was interested in the new Cambridge Audio Alva TT turntable and the KEF LS50 Wireless speakers as a way to reconnect with my much neglected vinyl collection without the need for a whole bunch of separate boxes. The new Cambridge Audio bluetooth AptX HD enabled turntable and KEF powered speakers had received excellent reviews but I knew the only way to make a call was to get a proper demonstration. From the initial contact with Ewan at Richer Sounds, Cheltenham to arrange a demo at a time that worked with my availability, him ordering in the KEF speakers that are not normally a stock item and then be giving me enough time to really compare the quality of sound. I knew then that the approach being adopted by Ewan and Richer Sounds was more than just about selling me kit but really seeing if the turntable and speakers would work for me. The demo was arranged for a Sunday afternoon and I was encouraged to bring in a record or two from my old vinyl collection/sample iTunes Audio files and even my bluetooth headphones to test the Hi Res bluetooth audio streaming from the turntable.Based on the comprehensive demo and the quality of the kit, which really did all the talking, I made the commitment to proceed with the purchase. Ewan was able to make the purchase more attractive by offering me a trade in and other discounts that were unique to Richer Sounds and the items being bought. I bought a soundbar from Richer Sounds, Croydon. There was a problem with its HDMI connector. I phoned RS and they talked me though simple things to try to get it working but when these failed RS provided a replacement without a quibble. RS showed real knowledge of their equipment and were very pleasant to deal with. I've since bought a new DVD player from and taken advantage of their VIP club which offers further price discounts.
